I needed to buy an antenna for my car cuz I went to the car wash and didn't put my antenna down. The large horizontal roller picked my car up by the antenna, rip it off and dropped my car about 2 feet off the air and slammed hard into the ground. The back tires blew, my exhaust system fell off and also wrecked my gas tank. Well, needless to say the antenna came off but it also ripped off part of the trunk and the roller, which didn't have a clue what was occurring, proceeded to repeatedly beat my car with the trunk shrapnel as it went back and forth across shattering the back and front windshield. At this point my seven year old Caedmon is screaming at the top of his lungs in desperate panic as I try to get the glass off my body. I try turn the engine on but it won't start since it the drop must have shut the electrical so I tell Caedmon that we are going to jump but all he does is scream. I realize that the whole time there has been a chunky uniformed teenager with his hands on his head switching panicked stares from us to what I suspect is a missing manager in the far yonder. I try yelling at him to hit the emergency shut off button but either the load ruckus of twisted metal and breaking glass is preventing him from deciphering my urgent plea or he has been lost to the abyss of frozen fright. Not sure what happens next but the machine suddenly shuts off probably since it finally decided that the soap wasn't quite being spread correctly or something but it gives my son and I the perfect moment to make a run for it. The door is pretty stuck but the power window magically works (but not the engine for some reason) so I slip him through the window and he takes off and I follow. At this point I smell gasoline and smoke so I leak a bit in my unmentionables as I catch up to my son. I approach the has station attendant who has not even noticed anything wrong and I tell her to get the manager as it's an emergency. The attendant whom I have interrupted from a cell phone call with her BFF scoffs copiously as she dials and speaks garbled speech-like sounds into the PA. I'm still in shock from the intense soap and metal wash but I start wondering why it is important to use the PA in a store smaller than my bedroom. She gracefully volunteers the much needed information that her manager is in the bathroom pooping or something and she won't be out for a while. I look over to the car wash of death and notice the chunky teenager has finally thawed and seems to be scrambling back and forth from the side of the building to my newly demodeled car with a bucket in tow. That's when I notice the smoke billowing and I launch to the hose I see on the ground. I quickly connect it to the faucet chunkster was using to slowly fill a bucket and turn it full blast and proceed to become a fire-fighting citizen of awesome. I put out the fire under the car before it blew and run back to wait for the manager. After 20 minutes of hearing gas station girl tell her girlfriend all about Dillon's inability to pay attention to her the manager lady, if you can call her that, gelatinously waddles to the counter as she straps her belt back on. She asks what she can do for me and I explain everything that just happened. As I await her response she continues to stare at me until she shrugs and asks what I want her to do about it. As I ready to present the good old damages inflicted argument she points to the sign on the gas station stating that are not liable for any damages to cars and especially damages caused to antennas. Dumbfounded, I lastly ask if this happens often to which I am shocked that I am apparently not alone. So as I'm waiting for the tow truck to come pick me up I call this Advance Auto parts store to which someone named Evelyn answers. I explained my dilemma an my need for a new antenna. She was super kind and very knowledgeable about cars especially ones that have caught on fire and have had severe structural damage. She recommended I get a universal antenna to replace it. I don't think I'll the car will be functional ever again but the radio still works thanks to Evelyn at Advance Auto Parts! read more
