I'm sorry I am not the type to complain but the staff I encountered today had a peanut as a brain.

April of 2024 my car broke down on me. I took it to my normal mechanic who informed that I needed a new engine and transmission. I reached out to Brandywine Auto for a quote for a used engine and transmission, not a bad price. I schedule the service with them to drop my truck of May 7th. Once I did that everything went downhill from there. They nickeled and dime me for so many other things. They told me my compressor was bad, and they will install a new one. Find no problem, then they said I needed a new catalytic convertor, ok. They had my car until Oct 11th. I proceeded to leave my car shut down on me in the middle of 301 interception. Are you freaking kidding me. They do not know what they are doing. Every engine and transmission they had did not work at all. Their service is below subpar. I believe they are only capable of handling minor repairs, like brakes, window replaces, tune ups that all. Please do not take your car for any repairs and do not trust the parts that you need. Their warranty sucks. They lie and say we ordered a new part and if something happens then they say no it was used because the warranty will be voided after 30 for used parts. Currently I have my truck being looked at not by them of course Because my ac isn't working after I was told that I paid for a new compressor. Go figure.

For one of my visits I needed to buy the additional tools needed to replace my sparkplugs and a few other things like an air filter. Anthony assisted in me in finding the right aisle for the spark plug sockets, the anti-seize lubricant, and the air filters. I picked up a few other things like the orange goop for my hands and the good blue paper towels. I had everything I needed for a tune up. I went back a couple times the following week as I wanted to replace my battery next. I had to come back since there weren't enough staff members available at the time for someone to be able to change out my battery, but was able to come back the next day and get this done. Mike was very helpful in assisting me with getting this done. While I got the new battery, John came over and gave me a detailed explanation of how the battery worked and when I should add distilled water. Another employee Floyd was also super helpful and was there even thought he wasn't working at the time. Overall, you can tell this is a friendly neighborhood auto parts store and the staff was friendly and helpful. In the short time I was there I could tell that lots of people like to come here and talk about cars and the staff is willing and able to help everybody.

My wife and I have taken both of our cars to Goss in Crofton for years. Thousands spent. Always…read moretrusted them. But after our last experience, we'll never be back. Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.

Staff were very professional, personable and respectful. And I received a thank you card in the mail. Very nice personal touches that go along way with earning my business. She kept that same attitude the entire time I was checking out, which made the whole experience unpleasant. I've been to this same location many times and never had an issue before. When I showed my veteran ID, which I've used here plenty of times without any problem, she said it wasn't valid. That kind of inconsistency and attitude isn't what I expect from AutoZone. I usually like this store and the staff, but this visit was disappointing. Management really needs to do better.

Most of them involve either sales associates talking down to me (like I don't know the difference between a carburetor and a cabin air filter) or trying to upsell me on things I don't need, because they think I don't know enough about my vehicle to know when I'm being taken advantage of. Oh, and let's not forget the unwanted advances...yeah. My experience at this AutoZone location was everything that a trip to the auto parts store (or any store, really) should be. Chris was AMAZING from the very second I walked into the store. I came in for two items and even though he only had one in stock, he looked up the nearest store that had the item in stock, printed out an image of the item they didn't have (so I wouldn't have to ask the sales associate at the next store to find it in the computer), and wrote down the address for me so I wouldn't have to look it up in my phone. It's also worth noting that I didn't ask him to do any of these things for me... didn't even have the time to. He was already problems solving before I had a chance to even consider next steps. Solution oriented customer service... Other stores, take note. Because I felt so comfortable shopping at the store, I ended up buying another $50 worth of detailing accessories and other things that I didn't necessarily need. As he rang up my items, I thanked Chris for treating me both as a valued customer, and as a person, because this was not an experience I've had at any other auto parts store. This store has become my new go-to for all of my car care needs.
