They advertised a free engine light check yet refused to do one. To replace a side marker light a clerk said he could not do it because the bumper had to be removed. Went home and pulled it up on internet and all it required was prying off the light cover. An associate said she couldn't replace my headlight bulb because she said her hands were too fat. The transmission would not go into gear. She had the car towed to the Nissan dealership, who checked the car and stated the car needed a transmission but also needed a motor!??? Over $7800 estimate!? She didn't know what to do. I told her we use Lexington 1 Stop Auto and to let them them look. From the moment of her calling, Jason (the owner) arranged a tow truck to pick up the car within just a few hours. We explained what the Nissan dealership said, their response was -- let us look at it and be the judge...too many times dealerships take the sales approach method and may attempt to oversale the issue. Well he was correct! Within a day, the owner responded back: we found a used transmission and he sent us the history on it (and it included a short warranty). Secondly, we believe the motor can be saved, it needs servicing to remove the sludge build up. Let's try this before you spend $1000s on a different motor. Within three days, the owner contacted us. The transmission was installed and working properly. The motor was saved! Saving her over $2000 in repair costs. But the service didn't stop there. They fully explained what they did, and asked the car be brought back in two weeks to change the oil out since it was an extensive service -- this will remove any additional gunk that breaks free. Then they will inspect the motor once more to make sure it is sound. That's going above and beyond. My family member said when she spoke with Jason that he was very respectful to her (and her lack of knowledge of cars) and didn't talk down to her. She really appreciated his professionalism and felt that he was trustworthy. That made me feel good because I recommended them. Two days later, she said the car drives like it is brand new! Thanks to Jason and his mechanic staff, she got her car back for a third of the cost the Nissan dealership was quoting.

That directly contradicts what you stated in your response. You also stated that repair shops do not keep replaced parts to show customers. That has not been my experience. Every dealership and independent repair shop that has worked on my vehicles has either offered to show me the replaced parts or kept them available until I picked up the vehicle. It is a common practice for shops that value transparency with their customers. At this point, my concern is not just the repair itself but the inconsistent explanations and lack of accountability throughout this process. I've gotten a lot of maintenance work done here. Throttle body cleaning, tires (alignment + balance…read more+ rotation), a serpentine belt and tensioner pulley. But after my check engine light came on for EVAP codes. I started to notice their lack of communication. The EVAP codes could be multiple things like a purge valve, vacuum switching valve, charcoal canister, hoses etc. I ordered a vacuum switching valve after some research and they said it was the wrong part. It wasn't the wrong part, because I just had it installed somewhere else, and the VSV already on there wouldn't click at all. So the part I previously ordered was the right buy. But old school wanted to put a new part in that they ordered. A vent valve. I had no issue. They're professionals they know what they're doing maybe my vent valve was faulty. But when I asked how they diagnosed that it was indeed a faulty vent valve. They wouldn't tell me. Keith said "you can't really tell if it's bad". So you're replacing a part that you're not sure I need? Sheesh could at least run the smoke test. Then trying to ask for more info about the part they're ordering and putting in my car, was a hassle. I felt like a nuisance. As a customer I shouldn't feel nervous asking about my car but they sound extremely annoyed talking to me. I'm at performance express and was just told I had a massive head gasket oil leak. Old school didn't catch that. Thank god I was able to catch it. But old school is good overall. Parts come in quick. Labor prices are pretty good. Just communication is meh. Chris is awesome tho.
