When he picked up his car, he was hit with a $1,250+ bill for replacing brakes and rotors all around. With a $50+ shop fee included. UNBELIEVABLE / ABSURD !! I've done the brakes on this car several times in past and aware of material cost being ~ $300. I went to the shop the next day to discuss. Manager tried telling me that cost have gone up. I'm aware you can buy a rotor online for $45 each while he stated they go for $100. I guess they saw $$$ to be made off of a 25 y/o. Would NEVER use this shop. When I picked up the car, th guy who fixed my car asked me if I wanted to look at the pieces. Simply due to being a woman and not being taken seriously at any auto repair shop, I followed their suggestions and brought my '05 Ford Focus in for work. I was having serious issues with my brand new battery draining. It took me several visits to actually get the problem officially resolved--mostly due in part to the fact that the batteries I was buying from Autozone on N. Broad were all defective. I was informed "this kind of thing happens". I would say all in all it took me three different visits to R&S to rectify the matter, but I only paid once. The first two times were merely inspections that I wasn't charged for, and on the third trip I was charged for the labor to replace a deeply corroded battery lead. (The real problem!) A mere $40--in exchange for the headache I must have brought them I believe that to be fair. Also had work done here replacing a fan belt. Between the two brothers, I prefer to work with Sam. He's joyfully pleasant, upbeat and doesn't speak to you like you're some kind of retarded kid that's never operated a vehicle before. The receptionist is also very nice and really appreciates good handwriting--as she said when I handed her a personal check. "People don't spend the time these days with their penmanship. Yours is very nice." I don't care to work with Ray, who I perceive as the real-life version of Oscar the Grouch, just without the trash can which I assume is not too far away. He's grumpy, curt & generally seemingly growing tired with his work or tired with people. Either way 2 out 3 ain't bad. Quick repairs, decent pricing and informed throughout the process.
