I have had nothing but trouble with adt. The latest was my smoke detectors needed new batteries. I changed batteries and spent 3 full days talking to representatives to stop the chirping from the panel ( after I removed the detectors and took batteries out. Talked to 5 representatives with no resolution. I had virtual appointment set for Thursday morning only to be awoken at 3:30 with panel going off. I talked to virtual representative for 1 hour 17 minutes and was told the detectors needed to be replaced every 5 years at a cost of $308.46. After I paid I looked at the detector that I've had for 4 years and it states on the back replace by 10/2034. Another lie from adt. I have spent hours on ladders fixing the system while adt was on the phone. It is a neighborhood joke how often I was out there fixing their equipment. Shop around before buying into ADT . I'm going to try to get an explanation on the replacement dates on the detectors but I honestly believe that I will not get a honest answer read more

ADT is the worst! They installed our system and we had connectivity issues from the beginning, the hard wired key pad doesn't work. When I called they made me trouble shoot with them, unscrewing it from the wall... nothing worked. It has been impossible to cancel, finally I got them to agree to close my account, they quoted me my final payment which I confirmed included any cancellation fees (for a system that doesn't work) and made my payment of $550. Just got another bill for $225! I called and they said that department that took my payment isn't authorized to tell me that was the final amount and refused to pull the call or honor their own company's commitment. My husband and I are very disappointed in ADT! My grandfather worked for this company many moons ago so to feel safe when we bought our house we decided to go through them! We have had nothing but issues with equipment...and the installation! Who puts the panel on the middle of a wall? Excuse of having to be right above an outlet! Ummm many other outlets that aren't in the middle of my wall! Then the system decided it was going to arm as away when we were in the middle of dinner! Kept putting in our pass code and it would try and arm again until we opened the front door then had to call! Trouble shooting with them! Rebooted the system and set up for someone to come out to look at it! That was canceled by ADT and rescheduled for Christmas eve. We said we wouldn't be around on Christmas eve. So then we were told we had to pay to have someone come out since we had to cancel that appointment! Like seriously? We have tried and tried to cancel our service and they were going to then decided not to! We paid out right for the equipment and we have disconnected it all! Yet we are still paying for the service we aren't using because they refuse to let us cancel! Ridiculous! Never ever again and never recommending!! read more

ADT did NOT SHOW UP for our appointment in Blue Hill, Maine today!?!? I own THREE properties so they actually lost THREE ACCOUNTS!

I would discourage anyone from dealing with ADT. We've had nothing but trouble with them. The worst of it is they entice you into a long contract without explaining they charge a huge cancellation fee. I thought the 75% cancellation fee would be for the balance on the equipment(which would be fair), but no, it includes the balance on the remaining monthly fees for every month remaining on the contract! Just outrageous. It wouldn't be quite as bad if their service was good, but it isn't. Most of their agents are terrible. And you never get the same person twice. That means if the problem persists you have to go through it all over and over again. In my case they finally sent a tech out, and the problem occurred again the very next day. When our contract is finally done I'm going to be through with these people, and I hope those reading this won't be as foolish as we were. read more

Despite being an extremely long-time customer with Protection 1 (now ADT), we cancelled our service. After waiting days to schedule an appointment, the company was unable to fix a system problem and the same problem reoccurred soon after. Again, it took days to schedule an appointment only to have the tech repeat that the issue had been resolved. We had to cancel the service. Now after NOT fixing the system, they continue to bill for this "repair" call. Terrible company and terrible customer service. read more

ADT is awful, cancelled the account as soon as the contract expired and they have continued to auto deduct payments monthly even though we asked that the credit card info be removed. Every time I call I'm on hold for an hour just so the customer service rep can tell me that they have no record of us cancelling..... read more

We have had this service for 8 years. The past two years the keypads have not worked properly. I scheduled a service call yesterday and they gave me a customer unfriendly 9 hour window for when the technician might arrive. He never did. I called after 5 pm and they had no idea what happened and did not seemed very concerned - 'just schedule it again.' his also happened two years ago. Our house is not hard to find. I am currently looking for alternatives as they do not know what customer service is. read more
