It appears that ADT is just another scamming company. I thought it was legit. I had used them before with NorthStar in between. ADT bought them out. So I returned. My experience. My system was about 20 years old, batteries needed to be change throughout and I wanted to upgrade. A technition came to my home. Saul. He explained the new one and did a handwritten quote. $785.24. I asked for a breakdown of the the costs. One would be provided later. So the initial cost was $785.24 plus the month fee of $45.99 with a 2 year contract. Plus ADT still owns the equipment. Ok fine. It was installed. The first bill was $44.99 plus and additional $49.99. I call to find out why. (Another problem. the only humans you can talk to are overseas) Turns out that they have double billed me for another $1,103.76. $49.99 for 24 months? After 2 phone calls to Erika and Kumar, they told me the first contract was canceled and that there would be a $74.98 refund. I asked for a breakdown of the original $785 payment. Oh it will be emailed. Never got it. And so the saga goes on and on. My take. DO NOT DEAL WITH ADT. I don't know what they are smoking but it's not tobacco. Zero stars. read more

Have been on the phone with them THREE separate times all ending with promises of it being credited back to my account and it never happens. Its March 2021 and im still dealing with trying to resolve so many mistakes made by this company. I don't understand the level or incompetence that these employees at the office and on the phone have when it comes to billing and record keeping. We were told several times about random balances that are for leases or equipment not returned after they told us they didn't want to pick it up and after getting it all resolved they added another random amount and sent us to collections. They didn't even know why they thought they were still owed money until a year later and now claim its from a past due bill from April of 2020. (We canceled in February 2020). If I could give ZERO stars I would. We had ADT for 15 years. Over the years, we had continual problems getting the web-based products to work. The cameras, doorbell would always drop off. I paid for numerous tech visits and was told by the techs that this is just the way it works. I finally had enough, tested another company's system and have not had any problems with the system going off line. I am now 2 months and 6 hours of phone time trying to cancel the services. For some reason they can't seem to process it correctly and I am still getting billed. I'm having to dispute the charges now with the credit card company. I've been on hold for 2 hours now - and they have disconnected me twice during the soft transfer. The reps have terrible phone connections and are difficult to hear/understand. read more

Surely I was under the impression that somebody could hook up the light camera combinations. There's already existing power to both locations where the cameras go. All they have to do is remove the other motion, light and wire in the new ones , the list goes on. I am very disappointed with ADT and I want some type of confirmation that this is going to be resolved and some type of return on this horrible experience with ADT that I've already paid cash for and nobody is following through with anything, I don't want to deal with the Fresno office anymore , they are very unprofessional right down to the sales person and I'm not happy at all. So as I'm sitting here trying to CONFIRM service cancelled, dead, terminated without penalty fee and I'm still within the 6 month money back guarantee. My equipment has been pulled uninstalled by service tech already. I was told by ADT 800 number in account services dept that in order for me to terminate contract I would have to try to resolve any system related issues for them to honor the 6 month $$ back "guarantee". so ok. Tech comes.. Come to find out by the nice tech service guy my home was not compatible enough to have 2 cameras. FYI WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS OR AWARE OF WEN INSTALLATION happened. If it was possible to give a ZERO STAR, I would rate ADT with ZERO. Dealing with ADT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!!!!! I sold the house that had the system and they made it extremely difficult to terminate the contract despite my paying the whole balance of the 5 year contract. When I called to cancel in September, I was transferred to several department, each representative, trying to talk me out of cancelling. I repeatedly told them that I have sold the house and the new owners do not want to take over the system thus I had to pay for the remaining balance of 4 years. I was told that as soon as they processed the payment, they will cancel the system. SO I PAID THE FULL 4 REMAINING YEARS and asked for the final bill to show that the contract has been terminated as I have to present it to probate court. A couple of weeks passed and no letter in the mail. To my surprise, when I logged online to check if there was a letter I could print, it showed that it is scheduled for cancellation next month due to the fact that "I might change my mind". I called and once again explained to the representative, Beverly, who claims that she is also the supervisor, that I cannot just print the current bill showing a $0.00 balance. I pointed out that the statement shows that the system is located at my house, which is located in Washington State, and not at the actual location (in Oregon State). The online dashboard shows the correct address. Unfortunately, the court will not accept a printed copy of the dashboard information. The court will only accept a statement. She said she cannot do anything to correct the bill. I asked to speak to a manager as this has dragged on for over a month now and not a single representative will tell you how to cancel properly. Beverly mentioned that there is no manager available, which in my previous dealings with them was informed the same thing. NO MANAGER AVAILABLE and they do not know when one will call me back. We've had ADT Security System for 5 years, and overall it's been a great system. The customer service is questionable. We bought and paid for a monthly warranty with our system. The warranty covers parts and labor for wear and tear and failing equipment. Well this new issue is wear and tear on a part that ADT installed. The customer service representative said there may be a charge to have a tech come by and install it correctly. I said, you just said my warranty covers parts and labor. She said it does. However we sent out a letter to our customers stating that you may now be charged for those services. What the Heck, does that even mean? You either cover it or not. She was so rude and indecisive that I don't know what I'm paying $5.00/month for. I asked to speak to,a supervisor and she said she'd connect me to one, then the recording said the office is closed, please call back. I will call back and update this review. I put a deposit of 15k down on a security system and once I did I started to get really bad customer service as if they had already earned the job so they didn't need to help me any longer. No phone calls answered on time etc. so when I canceled and asked for a refund, they charged me a bunch of bogus time and fees and the small amount of money I was supposed to receive back I have not been able to get for over a year. Terrible customer service. The commercial representative I dealt with was Alan Roberts. He sold himself as a really good security analyst, and after dealing with another company I now realize he has no idea what's he's doing. Stay far away from these guys. Same thing as Vivint they installed junk product in my home that half of it didn't work. Now trying to cancel is costing me multiple hours and arguing over the phone to resolve.They try to tell you multiple managers need to come and say the same thing, that they should have never tried to sell me on this system ($1,800) system that don't work. Also end story make sure u transfer to straight to a manager at ur local store. Talking to anyone else is pointless and will waist ur time. And yes they will make u wait for a call back in 48 hrs. WORST COMPANY EVER! First, they snag you with cheap intro rates not telling you that when they get there, those entry rates are for systems that use OLD ANALOG lines that unless you have a line adjacent to a power source, there is no way to get the system you REALLY want installed unless you go with their OVER THE AIR system, which of course is 10x more expensive. Then they get you with this ridiculous 2 year contract that unless you read the fine print, getting out of it is impossible without incurring a HUGE penalty. I don't care, I'm paying for it rather than stay with a company like this. Lastly, today, I find out that there are two accounts: MyPulse and MyADT. Nether are connected to each other, which is total crap. So I never got an invitation apparently and when I called today to get it, I'm asked for a password. A password that was asked of me over a year ago, and was not given any kind of form to write it down because, hey, you will NOT GET HELP without it. So I ask them to give me hints, nothing. They have to MAIL IT TO ME. OH, by the way, you cannot cancel your account without the password!!! "So sir, do you want us to mail you your password?" Hell yes, so I can then use it to CANCEL this stupid service. UTTER RIDICULOUSNESS!!!! I told them, ask me my security question which I know, I'm looking right at it. I'm logged into my ACCOUNT!! Just cancelled this service after honoring my two year contract. Was told monthly service cost would be $35. However $44.99 was taken from my bank account every month. Called to request a sensor on the back door be replaced and was quoted a cost of $300 to do so. Cancelled service yesterday and have received three calls today offering to replace the sensor for free and monthly charge to be reduced to $32 and then $20. Also even though my contract is completed, they say they will be taking one more payment next month. Will NOT recommend ADT to anyone. Scammers! read more

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone hoping for a dependable security company that will make you and your family feel safe. There has been so many issues with the system, and I have only been a customer for around 2 months and I regret ever minute of service. Promotional credits for 3 months were promised, as well as a $100 gift card. The sales representative "Able Cendejas" & the District Manager "Terese Kent" are 2 of the most unprofessional individuals that I have ever came across, not to mention all of the other customers service representatives, and account specialist. I've been hung up on multiple times, no notations in the system of my concerns every time that I call. They "REFUSE" to allow me to cancel my service, and come pick up the equipment, even though they offer a 6 month cancellation guarantee with no penalty. My family & I feel very unsafe with ADT as our home security provider. If something so simple can not be honored and followed through with, and every representative has treated us like absolute garbage, why would we believe that they have our families best interest in mind. I have been on hold for over 2 hours at a time, and I'm even on hold with the corporate office while I writing this. I was on hold with the account specialist to get my service cancelled per their 6 month guarantee, when she randomly put the original dishonest sales representative "Able Cendejas" on the phone to tell me he never said what I was stating. DON'T DO IT!!! I OWN ONE AND I SAY DON'T DO IT. ADT is something else. 30 minutes wait for them to answer and I pushed the option that my alarm was going off. I couldn't turn out off they took 30 minutes to get on the line, I verified everything still no help. Then I asked for a supervisor and she kept telling me she contacted a supervisor and she will not be able to transfer me to a supervisor. So refusing to turn me to a supervisor. Finally time marker 57 minutes she said " I just contacted a supervisor" and should like your best contact number will call you in 5-10 minutes. #1) 30 minutes wait for someone to get on the line. #2) she wouldn't help even that I verified who I am and all other questions #3 very rude from the get go. #4 she never contacted a supervisor *Alarm going off for an hour So I grabbed a hammer and bashed the alarm system to pieces till it stopped. Don't do the ADT system because they don't care about you. All they care about is the money for someone to go out and press the buttons as they can prompt on the phone. I've been with this company for one and a half year now, I signed up for a two years contract and I can't wait for the contract to be over so I can move to a vendor with better service. Since I signed up for them, my security camera must have worked only for a combined total of six months. I called and they fixed it and it would work but after a few weeks it would break again. Their technical support is not a walk in the park either. I was even charged the first time I called. Now, nothing works. I think I'm better off with Ring. I just don't bother calling them anymore. Im just waiting for the remaining six months of our contract to be over. I was never sent a copy of my contract nor did I receive a DocuSign agreement. As I stated, I was handed a tablet with nothing more than a signature line. No mention of being locked in 3 years by signing that tablet. Once more, the agent knew we had just rented the office and never asked about our lease with the building. We feel he didn't bring it up because he wanted to close the deal. Bottom line: I was forced to pay over $600 for the remaining year of the contract with threats of collections and damage to my credit if I didn't do it. If you can find a way to return the money we paid for NOTHING, I will remove this post and not post my terrible and costly experience anywhere else. Wish I could give them no stars. I am the trustee for a trust that owned a building in downtown Visalia. We had a tenant for over 20 years that was a non-profit. They installed ADT in the building and had it for many years. Because of the Covid-19 the tenant lost their funding for the program they were running and I had to let them out of their lease because of a clause in the lease that allowed for loss of funding. I had to switch over all the utilities in July 2020 when the tenant moved out. The building was already for sale and so when I spoke to ADT I told time that I only needed the monitoring until the building sold. Unfortunately I am located 2 1/2 hours from where the building is located and had to have my husband meet with the tech to switch the monitoring to the trust. My husband did not realized that he was signing a contract for 36 months of monitoring as we explained to both ADT corporate and the tech that this would be only temporary until the building sold. Well the building closed escrow on 10/22/2020. When I called to cancel the monitoring I was told that we would have to pay the remaining months for a total of 1511.35! The only remedy that ADT was willing to offer me was if the new owners of the building continued the service (which after contacting them they have decided not to do and they are going with another service) or we could move the service to another location. That is not a option because the trust does not own another location. My husband and I are senior citizens and we feel that this was not explained to us properly. I can't believe that a company the size of ADT does not have temporary monitoring service when a tenant moves out of a building! read more

Pay attention to all of the reviews here. They are accurate. --- I'm paying $52.99 a month, so I am a current customer. Do I want to be? No, and here's why. I was told by the sales team, including a manager that my rate would be $27.99 as advertised (despite the rate being only available to people with landlines) and additionally I'd receive two cameras at no extra charge because that's what I was originally looking for. They required me to put in a $100 deposit, to secure my deal, which I did. The technician came out, sat down with me and discussed the rates. He told me that this rate was not possible. Also, that the cameras were indoor only and that I would require wi-fi. I didn't have wi-fi at the time and originally wanted them outdoors, this wasn't disclosed to me. So he said he can credit the cameras(owed to me by the sales manager) to cover additonal Door Sensors on the remaining doors. He then started giving me different package options, suggesting that I have to choose additional add-ons to secure my home, which I refused because I immediately saw that they were extremely above market retail value.That should've been the last red flag and I should have stopped there, but, because my house has been robbed on multiple occasions, I wanted to test trial the product anyway -- it clearly stated in their contract that you can cancel within 3 days and get a full refund. So I went ahead and signed it. The products are cheap, and upon researching what they were, I found out you can set up your own system for about $200. I called to cancel on day two, and they said that I could only cancel though mail. (Really? You can take my money easily over the phone but to stop future payments I have to go through archaic means?) So I sent the mail. Months later I looked at my credit card and I was still being charged. I called to ask about this and they said that they DID receive the cancellation papers, but that it was postmarked ONE DAY too late, that I was no longer eligible to refund this and cancellation would require me to pay the full amount $1300. What? You can google these simple Door Sensors(which was all I got) and see that they are clearly not worth that much. I discussed with them and they said, the most they can do is give me the rate that was originally promised to me for $27.99. Fine, a lose situation for me but for the lesson that "these companies aren't trying to help you but take advantage of you," I'll disgustingly take the hit. It's been 3 months since and I'm still getting charged $52.99. --- Everything above is an honest and accurate description of the events. However, below is my honest opinion. The employees of this company should be ashamed of themselves. There should be no room for pride when you make your living off screwing people over when they're vulnerably sensitive about the safety of their loved ones. This is the WORST customer service for an alarm company!! We used their service for 7 years, then when we moved I called to cancel. Apparently they didn't process my request and my account was still being debited for the monthly service fee. I promptly called to get it corrected. They told me that the cancellation will take 30 additional days to process. I have to pay $150 for 3 months that I'm not getting service for. This is ridiculous!! Plus I had to call 3 different phone numbers customer service gave me just to cancel. Do yourself a huge favor and DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!! It is a hassle if you ever need to move or change service. June 12, 2019 First of all I called the 877 number and told them I would like a establishment for my home. Talked to Mike # 23818. He told me about a system then gave me to his supervisor Kelly. She said she had to get a credit card # so some one can come out to give me an estimate. I said I have to pay for that? She said no , but if I install there is a $99.99 fee. It would not be charged unless they installed. Now I have to keep an eye on that.... So today Juan came out trying to sell a system that was $5,954.00 but I would get 50% off. Plus to monitor, it would be $59.99 a month. Juan gave a good presentation thinking he would sign me up.But I just wanted an estimate today . I told them this but they sent out a installer. I just cancelled my service. They sent me a bill 77.00 and I paid ,but than double charged me from my checking account in the same month for 129.99. Horrible customer service, so rude ...they would not refund my money back since I paid with a credit card. I've had this service for 2 months but I've paid for 4 months. My husband called head quarters with a local ADT rep and the woman working in the billing and customer service said she was being " bombarded" and wanted the local ADT rep to get off the line so she could just talk to him. Moved to a new (existing) Home and got all sorts of ads for ADT. We called and were told we could basically get a system that would be monitored for $27/month and no installation costs. Upon arrival the rep proceeded to show up all the high end options with a out of pocket of $4500 and about $60/month. We kept asking about a basic system and could never get a straight answer. Just kept going back and forth with a variety of options and prices. Nothing below $1000 our if pocket. FINALLY after we said we weren't interested the rep got down to $0 our if pocket. By that time though we were done. It's a total bait and switch. It took over and hour and a half and then we had a hard time getting the guy to leave. I called Adt to activate the alarm system that was in my home. Technician came out removed my existing alarm system and installed a new system. There was nothing wrong with the old system. It was activating fine but I didnt have a service plan. After a few months the new system would not activate. Adt called me about the errors the were receiving. They wanted to charge me to come out and check their system. I refused to pay them to check the new system that they installed. So for a year and a half I paid for a service that I was not receiving. do not get adt!!!!! i was looking forward to them installing my system. they showed up first, the guy was a complete idiot. i would ask him something and he didnt seem to know the answer to anything. second, they said they would do something we had agreed on over the phone and when they came in person it was something else. i decided to give it a try. once they installed the cameras sucked and the system sucked up my internet i couldnt even use it. i told them to take everything off, i never ever signed anything and now im getting a bill for 77.72. ive been on the phone for over 40 minutes and no one seems to know how to do their job on getting this bill off my name....im glad i went with royal security....do notttt go with adt!!!!!! read more

I just waited 5 hours for their service rep. They told me he would call when enroute. Now they say he came to my house and left. I didn't leave my phone all day, they didn't call and now they want to act like I am at fault. I think I will be looking for a new security company. read more

My home was recently broken into so I called out ADT the following day. I originally contacted them because the previous owner had installed a system that just wasn't activated. I thought it would be cheaper than others because of it. Anyway, online and in subsequent mailers they advertise free equipment and monthly fee of $27.99. However, the tech wanted to charge me $125 for a couple extra sensors, and $47.00/month. He had many "reasons " why the advertised fee didn't apply.....I originally ordered and then thought better and shopped around. I found a different service for half the price (with some startup equipment costs) and another local company charged the same monthly but no equipment cost. I then cancelled and wanted a refund for the equipment I never received, and the sales guy didn't return any contact. Eventually the local rep returned my email, said the guy no longer worked there, and refunded my bill promptly. I would have given much lower stars if not for his response and professionalism. I'm still irritated at the monthly cost though given I just received another mailer with the advertised price! read more

As loyal ADT customers for 5 years, we have unfortunately ADT does not do as it said it would, which is secure our home. Our alarm was recently set off. After 4 minutes or so, we had no call from ADT, no contact from the authorities, and the alarm stopped sounding. We called to query about why it had not properly worked. We were told the issue was on "our end" and we should've been aware of an error message on our wall unit. After arguing with the customer service rep a few times back and forth that we have NEVER seen an error message on our unit and him persisting that we must have, we finally asked for a supervisor. We use the unit daily and numerous times per day at that. No error message ever was seen. Once transferred to the supervisor, he stated that there was indeed something wrong with the system. After explaining our concern that we pay for a service that promises to protect our home and that had not done so, we asked for upgraded equipment or some other type of reassurance that ADT could indeed protect our home. None was given. We then asked to cancel our service and he transferred us to a department that is apparently closed until Monday, without informing us that it was closed. This is extremely disheartening as we have been loyal customers for 5 years and thought we were protected. I do not recommend ADT to anyone and we will canceling their service and switching to Comcast as soon as we can get through to the ADT cancellation department Monday. read more
