I had to call them the last hour of my window to find out through corporate that they had pulled it off the calendar and fired the manager for other reasons. Probably the WORST home security I've ever seen. We have a doorbell camera & a camera in our backyard.. two nights ago someone lit our car on fire & the neighbors car. Give the customer the requested service. ADT was suppose to replace our hard wired system with their system. They change it to a wireless system instead without telling us, Now we have wall panels that do not work, not connection to fire alarms, no security alarm for indoor monitor detectors, windows that can't be opened do to incorrectly installed windows. The manager has not called as promise to correct the problems after two service personnel came out and said what the installer did is confusing. I am extremely frustrated with ADT. In October I had a install at my house I wanted two flood light cameras installed. The install tech. said that they had to contact an electrician and they would install it for $500. Then found out that their electrician would not install it because it is 12 feet high. However they are still charging me $500 for the electrician fee for a service that never happened. I have record on my cell phone where I have made multiple attempts and spent hours to contact them only to get the run around. I am at the point where I am going to have to contact the BBB and local news don't waste your money! read more

If I could give ADT a zero star review I would. Their equipment went off randomly and the fire department was involved a few times. One time it was in the middle of the night!! We had told them about this but they said it would cost $$ to come out and that's ridiculous when you just get a service and they want to charge you for their equipment being junk. An ADT sales rep came to my door on Aug. 1, 2025 and sold me a three-year contract for security monitoring. After reading reviews of the company that night, I decided to cancel using the 3-day "cooling-off period" provision in the contract. On Aug. 2, I called ADT customer service and asked to cancel. The sales rep provided an email confirmation that he would cancel the order and refund the $26.95 deposit I paid with my credit card. I also sent copies of the official cancellation notice provided in the contract to the Cincinnati branch address as well as a corporate office in Aurora, CO, on Aug. 2. I still have not received the refund. Additionally, ADT charged my credit card $104.43 for the system activation and monthly fee on Sep. 2, 2025, despite the fact that the system was never activated and I cancelled my contract within the allotted amount of time. On Sep. 14, I received an automated email from ADT informing me that they will charge me an additional $53.99 on Oct. 3. I called ADT 's corporate account management department on Sep. 15, and they told me that I needed to talk to the Cincinnati branch office. I had already called the sales rep on Sep. 14, and he promised to call me on Sep. 15. By the end of the business day on Sep. 15, he still had not called. After texting him and calling him twice, he finally picked up and told me that his supervisor and his supervisor's supervisor were not responding to his message about my situation. read more

I set up an appt with ADT for Nov 4th. During the 4 hr window of expected arrival, they called me and canceled. I scheduled another appt for Nov 8, they failed to show up and did not call me to cancel. Rescheduled with them for Nov 11th. I called them in the morning to ensure someone was coming out. Was transferred numerous times, one person said yes, we have someone coming out, but her voice did not sound confident. I called back, finally got a hold of someone who read notes on my account, it read the local branch office is having staffing issues, no tech available today. Insufferable clowns. Over a decade of paying bills to these fools and they treat you like trash. A mouse chewed through the power cable of my adt pulse gateway. It's a very unique power cable and I could not locate a replacement so I decided to brave the vapid wasteland of common sense and basic intellect that is customer service. It's not ADT's fault that the power cable was ruined, so I wanted to purchase a new one. I was even ready to buy a whole new gateway since sadly, that's typically just how things end up going these days. I wanted to see how far down the stupidity rabbit hole they could take this and I was impressed. OVER 2 full hours on hold and spoke to 5 (FIVE!) different human beings (presumably all brain injury recovery patients - props to ADT for giving these people a chance) and no one had any clue on how to solve this seemingly simplest of issues (they provided the original power cable and set up my entire system btw). I brought the system to it's knees and finally they put me into an infinity hold (ironically said, "please wait one second while I look something up") before perma-holding me. If these people can't manage replacing a cord, are you going to entrust your home and family to them? They will let you die. Stay the hell away from these people - look at the reviews. We installed an ADT system a few weeks ago and I have to say the install went fantastic, he explained and was very patient. Our satisfaction ended when he left. The system works fine but the billing is nothing but smoke and mirrors. When we've called to get an understanding of the charges it is nothing but double talk. The saga continues with ADT. After my review, several ADT people reached out to me to resolve the problem which was good (too bad they weren't as responsive when I first had the problems). By the time they reached me, I had already lined up several different alarm companies to give my estimates. I went with a regional alarm company that has local monitoring which is much faster in responding, easier to understand the agents, and much simpler to deal with. I have tried several times to cancel my account but end up being transferred a "higher level" of customer "service" (which required me to verify my account several more times in the same phone call) only to be disconnected. I finally reached someone today who told me I had signed a contract which doesn't end until 1/2026!!! So I owe over $500 in monthly fees (from when I stopped paying my monitoring fee and being monitored because the ADT equipment is sitting in a box in my basement!). ADT is telling me a can cancel my contract but I still owed the money and it would go to a collection agency if I didn't pay. They did offer to discount the amount I owed... how nice, given the "new" equipment (which I paid over $10,000 for) they installed in Jan 2023 NEVER worked (even after multiple service tech came out, 1 even saying ADT should have NEVER recommended the upgrade bc of the thick wall in my house - again it is over 110 years old). So the huge expense for the new equipment and NOW they are trying to collect $500+ or send me to a collection agency. I refused to pay and now have to search out someone at ADT who will let me cancel without paying. This has been a nightmare. Horrible customer service- mainly billing department. Our system was not working properly so ADT offered to send a service tech to look at it free of charge. Service tech was able to resolve part of the issue but not all. Apparently ADT has selective memory as we have been billed for the service tech that was supposed to be no charge. I have been on the phone 4 and now going to be 5 times as I received another invoice from them. Every time I call to resolve the issue it is no less than an hour and I'm always assured the problem has been fixed. Like I said - we got another bill. This company clearly has no clue as to what they are doing or they do know and just want to burn their customers. I would not recommend this company to anyone. On May 23, ADT posted an answer to my negative review of their services and underhanded business practices, offering to help me with the outstanding $511.40, which I do not owe. I was a loyal customer for nine years and feel that I am being billed in error due to a technicality. Today I received a bill from a collection agency, trying to collect on this amount. Looks like their offer to help me was just empty words, since I am sure that there was enough time between May 23 and July 6 for them to "help" me. Don't believe them. Cincinnati ADT over promised and under delivered. Bought a package with outside cameras, inside cameras, doorbells, thermostat, etc. Cameras almost never work, don't alert us and app never is able to pull up the picture. Have called the company and have had reps out here to try and fix and nothing works. Now the doorbell rings on its own and was swapped out for a new one that lasted a day and then did the same thing. We started complaining on week one and here we are in month ten and still complaining. Have been told since we are past our 6 month mark it will cost us $4000 to cancel. Regardless of how many complaints we lodged we were never told we had to cancel within six months. Corporate has told us the local branch has to let us out of our contract which is ridiculous that corporate can't override one of their branches. The Cincinnati branch is telling us corporate has to let us out of the contract. The local branch in Cincinnati hung up on me when I was trying to get out of this contract and told me once again corporate will have to help but since it has been over 6 months that they will not let me out of the contract. We currently pay over $150 a month for a system that doesn't do what they promised. I was told that these are old cameras and may not be able to pick up the signal as well and was told to just wait until they get new ones next spring. Never go with ADT, they used to be a good company, but their equipment doesn't work because it is antiquated. ADT and their installation agents have been a disaster from day 1 for us. We moved to Cincinnati in 2017 and unluckily picked up ADT as our security provider because of an Advertisement that really misrepresented their monthly charge($19.99 pm). When the installation guys came they said that was a basic charge and for us the charges will be close to $50+ pm, because we are using some features that are not part of the basic deal! By then the installation agents are already at your house and it is a chargeable visit, so we went ahead with it. I told them that we will be leaving Cincinnati in two years, but they still put us on a 3 year contract. No paperwork is given, everything is signed on a tablet, so you don't really know what is happening! When the time came for us to leave, they said that we cannot get out of our contract and that it would cost us a one time charge for all the remaining months of the contract- around $600+ ! Big mistake, never again! No wonder the new startups are running circles around ADT. read more

We've had ADT since the fall of 2014 when we purchased our home. The installation went well and the installation technician was very imformative. In 2015-2016 we experienced problems with one of the window sensors and the alarm kept going off. While I am relieved that the multiple "alarm activation" notifications were false, it was very disconcerting to get these at work. (The alarm would be triggered by high wind rattling the window.) This continued off/on for about 6 months and we had to keep calling to get satisfaction.They would come and adjust, but it would reoccur. We had to demand that the problematic sensor be replaced, and they did this. Security cameras could not be added with the initial installation due to the density of our outside walls. Early 2019 we have experienced some break-ins in the neighborhood and wanted to try security cameras again. We hoped that maybe new/improved technology would make this possible. Sadly, the same problem persists. But... I have to credit the technition for doing hes very best to make it happen. Overall, we are satisfied with ADT and would choose them again. Due to their being lax and having to push them to make good on the window sensor, I am giving 4 stars. The phone app is great but very slow to connect. read more

We recently had a problem with one of our cameras looking cloudy. We had a technical come out this morning and replace but it did not clear it up. Actually made it worse. So after calling again, another technician came out. Each time I was very specific not to move the camera position . It is on the same position for over 2 years. Well after the second technical TIMOTHY came he moved the camera to face the ground and when I told him to move it back he refused as said it was against the law. The cameras that we have on the side of our yard Are in no way shape or form illegal. Law states that cannot be pointed into a window or door which it is not because there are no windows and doors on that side of the house and our neighbor. Besides the fact that initially the technician installed as placed in this position the second technician that came out this morning placed in a position and only this person decided he did not want place in a position and made the choice to move it without my permission or knowledge. After refusing to move the camera back and claiming that it was against the law which by the way he needs to actually look up and read the laws in Ohio. The only thing I can say about this technician is not only is he rude but he is also ignorant and uneducated. At this point I believe that anybody would be better off purchasing their own home security system and not having to deal with ignorance of this person or company. The only reason they even got one star was because that's the only choice you have. As far as I'm concerned they don't deserve any and the technician Timothy needs to be fired!! read more

Just warning about ADT service contracts...their standard term is for 3 years....they TELL you that you can always transfer this contract to a new location if you move.....what they do not tell you is that, to them, "transfer" does not mean simply move the existing contract over to new place....nooooooo. to them it means you do not pay a cancellation fee BUT you DO have to sign a brand new contract (for an additional 3 years) at whatever price they are charging now. We opted to pay the cancellation fee and will NEVER USE ADT EVER AGAIN! read more

We moved to OH in January of 2014 and had an ADT system installed. We were promised a $100 VISA gift card for signing up. All we had to do was fill out a rebate form and provide proof of installation and 6-8 weeks later it would be mailed out. Low and behold, 6-8 weeks after sending in the rebate form and proof of installation, we had yet to receive the gift card. I called to check on the status and ADT said they had not received anything in the mail and because the rebate had to be sent in within 30 days of installation, we were too late, nothing could be done. Never mind the fact that because of the 6-8 weeks processing time, there was no way to be sure they'd received our information within 30 days to begin with. We have also had our bank account charged for our monthly charges, as well as someone else's monthly charges for the past two months. ADT customer service could not tell me why were being charged twice but asked me to fax in a copy of the charges from our bank and they would get back with us when they solved the issue. Four faxes later, we have yet to hear back and are still getting charged for two accounts. While it appears that the service itself is working out OK (we've tested it a couple of times and they seem to be quick to respond), the customer service and failure to provide honest and dependable solutions is ridiculous. When our contract is up, we will be switching to a more honest and reliable provider. read more

I have been an ADT customer since 2008. Today I found out that my alarm has been off-line for the past two years and they've been charging me for services I haven't been receiving for that entire time. Even though they had my phone number and my email and my physical address we received no notification about our alarm being off-line. Are they so lax that they did not know my alarm system was off-line? Aren't they a monitoring company? They were certainly willing to charge me for those two years of them monitoring my off-line alarm. How are you going to plead ignorance for an alarm system that's been off-line for TWO YEARS when you are a monitoring company?!? When I confronted them about this issue, I was told I would not receive any money back but they would give me a 6 month credit once I upgraded my system for $100 and the new charge would be $20 more per month than I've been paying....for them to do nothing...for the past two years... I guess that's the service you get for 9 years of customer loyalty I have lost all faith in this company. I wouldn't trust them to monitor my garden tool shed much less my home. They are either so INCOMPETENT that they did not realize my system was off line or they cared so little they couldn't be bothered to reach out to us (their customers) to let us know this was going on.... Received a flier in the mail claiming ADT monitoring for $27.99 per month, free activation, free sensors, free $100 gift card... all provided by Protect Your Home....oh, and a free upgrade to include fire monitoring!! Great deal, right?! Called right away and scheduled installation for the same day. Told Alex #7512 with Protect Your Home my exact situation, the number of sensors needed, he told me exactly what I wanted to hear.... unfortunately, none of it was true! Company is a total scam, misleading and dishonest!! The installer was unable to answer any questions, kept calling someone every time I asked a question, had no idea what was to be done, couldn't/wouldn't confirm what work was ordered and that no money was due! I contacted ADT Security about moving my existing security system to a new location. The process to be painless until they charged my account $2,500 instead of $25. This sent up a fraud alert with my bank and all my purchases for that day were suspended, including airline tickets hotel rooms and car rental. My bank has notified me with one minute all for the discrepancy and I contacted ADT immediately. After numerous calls I was told it would be taken care of and I stipulated that it must be done by the end of that day's business and that they should not try to take out the additional $25 until the funds were already back in place. Needless to say it wasn't done and I lost my unrefundable airfare. As a warning to all do not trust ADT they are too large of a company to worry about their customers and they did nothing to help resolve my issue in a timely fashion. However every time I called back to check on my money they thought they had taken care of the issues even when I reminded them that I've lost my airfare I couldn't take a trip. Now the good part of all of this is that I found SimpliSafe I installed and activated the system in 2 hours and I'm now monitored 24/7 buy a ul-listed Central Station at a third of the cost of the ADT system Hallelujah I found a winner. read more

My 3rd "service call" yesterday... between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, but they didn't show until after 1:00. With that being said; I had another full day off work waiting to see if their system is even going to work in my home. I received my system on 7/1/2015 and I still have no service on 8/15! The 1st appt. was a disaster with a salesperson named Gino who was arrogant, pushy and all about the upgrade to a more expensive installation. When I called customer service to say I should have been given a call, not needed to make the call when they were running late. I had "horrible" customer service by a lady named Susan who was very inpatient, curt, hateful and interruptive throughout our conversation. After a few minutes I explained that I would prefer we just cut our losses and take the system out. She proceeds to tell me they must have 5 service calls before they will allow that option. What? 5 service calls and almost 2 months of no service?? Security Alarm Now is an authorized dealer for ADT Security out of Columbus. Bypass this company if you are considering ADT security. This first salesperson they sent out made me more uncomfortable than a stranger in my home. He added a code to my system that nobody else knew but him and when another guy from Security Alarm Now came out to work on the system 2 weeks later he had to call Gino direct to fix it.
