There were 2 women when I went in working at the reception area. One woman looked as if she absolutely didn't want to be there. Never smiled or greeted me into the office. The other younger woman was more pleasant. Both though could use a Course on, "Reception Area Requirements!" My visit with Dr. Barton was pleasant as usual. I may have unintentionally left out other carers that I am not aware of. All the staff at Select Specialy Hospital in Miami Lakes are great. While all are state-of-the-art and the level of care is what you pray for and expect, this hospital starts curbside. They have complimentary valet that needs no stamp. It's no-nonsense. Get there--take ticket--go in. There's a security point and quick check-in for paperwork to sign, then directions are given where to go next in the outpatient care process. At that juncture, smooth strides all the way to Triage and your room. The facilities are immaculate with a library, gift shop, and a café that serves up good food--so much so--that I observed workers from the area go in to the Clipper Café to enjoy it. It's not only good, but big portions. We ordered the pancake breakfast and I had a typical tostada cubana and café con leche. The pancakes are huuuge! I would have taken a pic. for you, but my civility with J's dad would have crossed the line there! The croquettes looked fresh, so I ordered a couple. They were creamy delicious, like the ones my abuelita used to make at home from scratch in her iron table mill. There's only one other place I've found so far that makes them like that and it's Little Havana, Coral Springs. Getting back to the hospital care, we had knowledgeable, professional, funny and compassionate nurses who were attentive to every detail and need. They also have an "activities coordinator" who came by often to offer fun things for my daughter to relax before her procedure. There were many "angels" to thank and we did, so I'll spare you the agonizing list. Suffice to say that if you should need a children's hospital and have a choice, this one should be yours.
