We recently finished a full basement renovation with Plantation Renovation and honestly couldn't be…read morehappier with how it turned out.
When we first met Wade, we weren't sure what to expect - he was quiet compared to other contractors we interviewed who came in with big sales pitches and immediate opinions. Wade basically listened, took measurements, and left. We were like "...okay then." But he came back with a completely reworked floorplan that honestly improved what we had in mind in ways we never would've thought of.
From there, what really stood out was his ability to make things happen. This was not a cookie-cutter basement. We went all in - exposed ceilings, concrete floors, brick accent walls, custom lighting, a ballet studio, and a pretty specific (and slightly chaotic) design vision that most builders probably would've run from.
I will fully admit we were... very involved. We were down there almost every evening, pointing things out in real time, changing ideas, tweaking details, sometimes mid-thought. Wade deserves an award for patience alone. But instead of getting annoyed, he rolled with it and made adjustments as we went, which made the whole process feel very collaborative - and helped keep the project moving instead of waiting for a final punch list.
This is not a "design-build" firm - you do pick a lot of your finishes yourself - but Wade was incredibly helpful and patient during the big decisions like cabinets, countertops, hardware, and flooring. And when it came to the hard stuff, Plantation Renovation really shined. Rerouting HVAC for an open ceiling, custom shelving and built-ins, plumbing re-routing, concrete work, brick installation - they just made it all work.
There were a couple bumps along the way (a French door order issue and some broken custom light fixtures), but Wade handled things directly and took ownership, which we really appreciated. No project of this size is completely perfect, but what matters is how things are handled - and they made it right..
Special shoutout to Cary, our foreman, who was personable, hardworking, and genuinely excited to make our vision come to life. The brick workers, painters, and HVAC teams they brought in were also fantastic - we'll definitely be tagging them separately if possible because they deserve serious accolades. The wallpaper professional and home theater team we sourced separately will also be getting glowing reviews.
Overall, this was a very custom, very "not standard basement" project, and Wade and his team somehow made it all come together. We're genuinely thrilled with the final result - and still impressed he didn't run for the hills when we said "what if we change this again...?"
