A few months into the coronavirus pandemic, I realized I needed to talk to a professional about the…read moreoverwhelming anxiety I was feeling, and fortunately a friend recommended Dr. Burstein. We met for a two-hour teleconference that was absolutely what I needed. He told me, "I'm a person first," and it proved true. His compassion and warmth were so genuine, and he supported me through exercises that really led to what can only be described as a breakthrough. Our conversation was essentially a reset button that left me feeling stronger and better able to cope - and to be able to give more to loved ones who are also struggling. It sounds cheesy, but I'll be eternally grateful for his help at such a critical time!

Above & beyond care. Usually psychiatrists tend to be dismissive and leave deep conversations for…read moretherapists, but this was pleasantly not the case- Sarah cares about patients enough to ask personal questions, and has a great approach to consider lifestyle changes in addition to medication management. She's understanding, non-judgemental, intuitive, and will meet you where you're at to develop a plan thats unique to your mental health needs. For me that included traditional medication, but I never felt pressured to take anything. Also she is totally qualified(I noticed another review mentioned a licensing issue, but I was a patient for ~6 years. the only difference from MD I noticed is that you can't have telehealth appointments out-of-state, which is pretty typical, but she can still prescribe meds just like a doctor and has experience.) Getting under her care changed the trajectory of my life for the better. I definitely wouldn't be a functional adult today if she hadn't helped me develop the skills to get out of a dark place and stay focused on goals. Never had any issues with her booking schedule or med refills. Amazing, 10/10, can not say enough good things! :) Edit: I have bipolar and ADHD and made great progress learning to manage these conditions. :)

Sarah Schumacher is simply a nurse, not a psychiatrist. On the Colorado board of licensing she is a…read morenew one at that. She supervised herself according to official records, so I wonder how she became a psychiatric nurse or a nurse practitioner. What you expect and need from healthcare is transparency and honesty. Sarah doesn't seem to have had any mental health official training, yet is passing herself off as a quasi-psychologist and a psychiatrist. I was told by a referring nurse practitioner that she was a psychiatrist, with requires and MD and years of additional training. This woman is barely a nurse. I think Nurse practitioners, which I always thought needed additional medical training have created a cottage industry and refer each-other. I'm always suspicious of anyone who doesn't allow reviews online too.

One of my first meetings with Dr. Bercot, he pointed out the positives of the situation I was dealing with - which often times are overlooked and people focus solely on the negatives. I always end our appointments feeling heard and on a positive note. His staff is always reachable via email and phone whenever I've had a question about medication. I cannot recommend Dr. Bercot enough. I too found him a few years ago via Yelp and the rest has been history!
