Very grateful to Jay and all of of Central Garage for coming out in the rain on Father's Day weekend when the Horse Show was also in town to tow my Subaru. They went to a lot of trouble getting the right replacement part and performed an expert repair at a fair price. Thank you so much. Highly recommend.

I scheduled a diagnostic when I had several known issues going on with my car and an emissions code…read morethat had all the other local tri-lakes mechanics scratching their heads. 3 dealerships either gave me $5000+ diagnostic, tried talking me into replacing the engine, or buying a new vehicle (Plattsbugh dealership even scheduled me to do an o2 sensor repair then turned me away after seeing how buried the sensor was and I left in a fury). Main Line Auto gave me a quote of $1200 to do all the undercarriage work AND the hard to reach sensor and guaranteed me they'd get the check engine light off. Although I did end up trading my car in for a newer vehicle a year later, I'm grateful to Main Line for being one honest business out there. Not ripping people off and having the integrity to stand behind one's work is rare these days.

Smoke billowing from under the hood and heat sensors spiking. YIKES!! Marc Counter (Owner) took me as a drive-in, (and trust me, vintage Jags arent their usual car.) He was friendly, professional and just a regular local guy, who wants to get you back on the road. (He even invited me to have some chicken wings! lol) He was highly recommended by a few locals, and within a few hours, he had the parts delivered on-site and a decent price, he replaced some radiator tubes, flushed/replaced all the coolant and I was on my way again. Hopefully wont need them again.... but if i do.. i know where im going.

A DEC officer kindly pointed us toward nearby repair options, as we weren't familiar with any local mechanics. By grace, Madden's Garage was just one minute away. Despite being extremely busy, the team at Madden's Garage was welcoming, helpful, and genuinely accommodating. Mr. Madden went above and beyond--allowing us to keep our disabled camper on his property while a replacement axle was shipped all the way from the Rockwood plant in Indiana. Once the part arrived, the repairs were completed quickly and at a more-than-reasonable cost. We were never charged a storage fee, and every interaction was marked by professionalism and kindness. Madden's Garage turned a stressful situation into a reminder of how generous and supportive people can be. We are grateful for their help. Cheers to Madden's Garage from Leta L. Don't double up your jobs…read more They were supposed to tow my car. They took another call after already putting my car on the truck My car didn't make it to the garage until it was too late in the day on a Friday to be serviced. During a recent business trip to Lake Placid, we ran into some unexpected transmission issues…read more After asking around, Hoffman's came highly recommended by several locals--enough that we stopped counting. Apparently, they operate almost entirely via text, which seems to be a post-COVID communication adaptation. I explained the situation via text with "Taylor"--though to this day, I'm still not sure if Taylor is a real person or just the automotive equivalent of Siri. I let him know we were only in town for a short time and asked if they could get us in ASAP. The response was quick and honest: "We don't do ASAP." Fair enough. That said, they did manage to get the vehicle in within 24 hours, which all things considered, was pretty ASAP. Unfortunately, the part we needed wasn't available through their usual sources. Fortunately, we sourced it ourselves through our dealer and had it overnighted. When it comes to car repairs, the old saying goes: You can have it good, cheap, or fast--pick two. Somehow, Taylor and the Hoffman's team managed to deliver all three. They got us in as fast as realistically possible, the work was solid (as evidenced by the fact that I'm typing this 1,000 miles later, well on our way back to Reno, NV), and the final bill came in nearly 15% under the original quote. That's a rare trifecta. Dealing with Hoffman's does come with a few quirks, but in the end, they're a small price to pay for honest, competent work--especially when you're far from home and just trying to get back on the road.

The plastic front of my car was smashed up -- and God only knew what else was messed up under the hood. Darrah's had never had a totally electric car to repair. It's not a job I would have taken on, believe me! There were long delays in getting parts because of supply line disruptions (hey, this is 2022 and it's still screwed) but they kept in touch. When I got my car back, it was indistinguishable from a new car. They got every little detail right. I wouldn't think of taking my car anywhere else -- but then again, all the deer are on notice to stay the heck away from my car.
