Been using Trailways for 30 years. WAS excellent up until most recent takeover. Prices suddenly doubled whilst service has become very poorly. Lack of manners regarding bus drivers been downright rude. read more

Bus seats were painfully uncomfortable. No tilt whatsoever. I believe they have been fixed so you can't recline. I normally prefer bus or train over airfare. But these seats were so close together it felt like a plane. Bathroom was fine and clean on the bus. read more

From Washington DC to Plattsburgh NY: ok, crowded, two uncouth rowdy passengers were removed at NY Port Authority terminal at the bus switching and reboarding. The ac plugs at each seat are worn out so v hard to keep phone charged and that's crucial in this day and age. From Plattsburgh back to DC: "terminal" is a self-serve Mobil gas station/dunkin donuts parking lot. The tracker (grayhound app - pretty nice by the way) showed my bus sitting at the Canadian border. ETA Plattsburgh said it would be 1.5 hours late - meaning I would miss connection in NYC for DC! I checked AMTRAK and a walk to Penn Sta looked like that would be my plan (expen$ive) B : ( While waiting at dunkin, talked to a guy had to catch plane at JFK NY - he was desperate. He told me last winter he waited hours in the snow before a bus showed up. Tracker still saying bus stuck at border (covid issues?). Anyway suddenly a bus arrived and only about 20 minutes behind schedule - and NOT one stuck at border. It was an empty clean bus and about 8 passengers boarded. The driver did a good job and got us to NYC in time so I made my transfer and arrived in DC in time. Tips - bring water and snacks - there are some vending machines but be prepared for anything. Don't forget phone charger. Earmuffs or plugs in case feels like singing or arguing with partner. When boarding and stowing a bag get a tag from the agent and use it in bag. The agent in Plattsburgh Dunkin Donuts seems to be a very nice and capable young lady. In DC it's an office in upper level bus terminal. read more

Dear Adirondack Trailways, 'Member me? Good. (J/K, guys.) Anyway, I'm writing to let you know that you have a pretty tight customer care team working behind your 800 number, including Glenda. When I purchased online tickets early for my son to come home in late November - but forgot to change the passenger's name to his, resulting in buying tickets for myself to travel from upstate to Manhattan, where I already live and had been since this past July - I was unsurprisingly dumbfounded when my son caught the snafu while printing what should've been his tickets the night before his trip downstate. As I explained to Glenda in my initial email, I'm savvy when it comes to buying Trailways tickets online, but I somehow got the holidays off on the wrong foot. Anyway, back to Glenda... Um, girl rocks. She got back to my first email within, like, an hour letting me know about the partial refund I was entitled to after purchasing replacement tickets with my son's name on them. Then, she spent the next two weeks making herself available to me by phone (oh, shout out to Customer Care Specialist Cathy too, who would read my weekly follow-up emails, let me know - using the same email thread I'd started - when Glenda would be in the office so I could call, and, I'm assuming since she explained what she was going to do with my penultimate email, keep the email thread in "unread" status so Glenda would definitely see it). The level of communication and team work this involved should be acknowledged by whoever hired these two. Although I didn't get an instant partial refund (I saw the reverse credit card activity two weeks after my first email to your customer care staff), and although I never got the confirmation email regarding my refund (which was what Glenda stated, via email, that I'd receive), I got my money. I don't know if Adirondack Trailways offers bonuses or when Glenda's next job review will be, but if you could stick this in her file, I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to label her work ethic old-school, but nowadays professionalism like hers (and Cathy's) isn't as expected as it should be. Thanks for reading, Trailways. Happy Holidays! read more

Had not taken a bus since +10 yrs. Took the Montreal-Albany on a Saturday morning. Boarding process was manual but efficient. Robert was a perfectly calm, funny (but not annoying), clear and helpful bus driver. Process through custom was simple and well explained. The drive was smooth, bus was super clean, had very decent space and the crowd was quiet even with 30 some people on board including kids. The drive was flawless and the scenery was beautiful. I did not remember how much I like bus rides but thanks to Adirondacks Trailways, now I do! read more

We were traveling from Ridgewood to Albany and the address given on the site is for Rt. 17 South and only at the very bottom of the page if you click "view more" is there a tiny note that says ("northbound") and my group wasn't aware we had to cross the overpass. We missed our bus and called customer service about it and they did not help what so ever and even assumed the mistake me made so it's clearly happened before and Trailways purposefully isn't changing jts website info to help customers. Also no social distancing regulations on the bus. This company just wants your money and does not care about customer service so best to spend your money elsewhere. read more

I took the bus to NYC on Fri, came back yesterday, they were helpful but there a few things, #1 the driver on the way down talking on the phone with out a blue tooth. also on the way back having a flat tire and wait for another bus for almost a hour and a half. The other thing is the location in Schenectady is not open for business. read more

Picked my boyfriend and I about twenty minutes late, which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't so cold out. On positive notes, the seats are comfy, the bus has WiFi, the driver is respectful and a safe driver. Currently on the bus, on my way to eventually get to NYC. read more

Okay, I've read the reviews and I must say, that I must be the luckiest guy when it comes to traveling with Trailways. I take the bus from Albany to New York City every now and then which has started 2 years ago and just recently went on a trip again this past Saturday from Albany to NYC and I must say, the drivers, the ride and the experience was to say the least very, very easy and pleasant. This latest trip was on Saturday, December 3rd 2016 and we had this driver who goes by the name of DOUBLE H (HH). Very courteous, funny and a great driver. Went down without a hitch. Pleasant ride and cheap. On the way back from NYC to Albany we had another great driver (forgot his name) it was the 2:30 PM bus back to Albany but he was great too! I forgot to mention, when my son and I arrived at the station, it was really crowded for a Saturday morning (7:30) run to NYC but instead of one bus, three buses showed up to take all the passengers down to NYC. Yes, the terminal at the Albany Station is a bit gruesome but you're not going to be there for too long anyway but it can use a sprucing up and probably some sort of security there. Definitely can use a makeover. Parking is great. $5.00 for the day. You go to the white shack, get the envelope that is in the box, put you license plate number and the date that you are taking the trip and slip a $5.00 bill in the envelope and slip it into this metal box they have hanging there. I've been doing this for about 2 years and not once did I have a problem. So, all you folks who gave Trailways a bad rap, sorry to hear your experience but every time I have used this company, never had a problem. Oh, by the way, I also do use AMTRAK down in Albany. Great experience there too. Much more expensive but once in awhile I treat myself. Love AMTRAK! Great station too! Beautiful experience there... read more

This was awful. Just awful. We had never taken the bus and clearly there are SEVERAL unwritten rules that they don't share with you when you call, arrive, pay, etc. So, there is a bus to XYZ location - say at 1pm. You arrive and ask in which line to stand for the 1pm bus to XYZ. They point, you pay, and you stand. And stand and stand and stand. AND, what we didn't know is that even though we had paid for the "1pm bus" to XYZ, THEY DON'T COUNT how many people are there!! So, the couple in front of us were THE LAST COUPLE to get on the "1pm bus". *WE* were put on the next bus. It was supposed to leave at 3pm, but as of 3pm, the bus wasn't full, so they just waited and let extra people on the bus until it was full, therefore, the "3pm bus" left way later than 3pm. We left 51 minutes late. (well, 2 hours and 51 minutes late, if you count the fact that we were trying to be on the "1pm bus"). There was rain (out of their control) and therefore traffic (out of their control), BUT, had we been on the bus that we had paid for, or even left at "3pm", we would have made it to our destination in time for our event. Encountered a rude driver on the Albany to New York route. Otherwise ride was comfortable.

This is the worst bus service I have ever taken. Avoid at all costs. I always take megabus but they had sold out for a trip to albany since I wanted to long. They oversell every bus and then expect you to wait for the next bus which can be an hour late. On my trip to albany I wanted for an hour for the bus to finally arrive at 730 when it did the driver got out and told me that this bus is full and I can take the next one at 8:30! Due to the fact that I was standing on the side of the highway in 0 degree weather I was not pleased so I called trail ways and asked for a refund and I would simply drive to my destination. I was then informed that refunds are not possible and all time are EXPECTED I understand that weather or traffic may delay the bus but blatant disregard for your customers by overselling a bus is outrages. You know how many tickets you sold why would continue to sell tickets for a full bus and lie to customers saying they will get on that earlier bus. read more
