Prairie Summit Shop - Parkas & Puffy jackets from The North Face at the Prairie Summit Shop

To- 'The Prairie Summit Shop' of Winnipeg…read more I sit here this evening, feeling very frustrated at the customer service I received today. In an industry where the customer is always right, you failed me. For a company who "...is entrusted by the North Face to represent the North Face products in the best possible manner" you have failed yourself and the North Face company. While purchasing a North Face jacket for my daughter (three years in a row), I believed I was buying her "only the best technical product in the industry". I believed I was spending the extra money for a jacket which would serve her well and keep her warm on our cold, wintery days. Boy, was I wrong! While speaking to the store manager today, I was truly taken back by his unwillingness to please a loyal customer. For a situation which he could of easily dealt with himself, he chose to send me away and told me to call head office myself! He even provided me with the phone number! (Apparently too busy to handle the problem himself!) Here is the story. This past weekend my daughter wore her North Face winter jacket for the first time. She was so excited to finally be able to play outside after our first snowfall! A few hours later, when it was time to come in, she was complaining about her chin and how her chin was hurting. I got her to look up and on closer inspection I was horrified to see a bunch of scratches from something in the collar of the jacket. One of the scratches actually drew blood. This was no joking matter. I wasn't able to get ahold of 'The Prairie Summit Shop' until Tuesday morning when the store opened. I explained my case to the store manager, Shawn. I could already tell he was skeptical, however I took pictures of her chin to prove my point. Shawn informed me I would have to bring the jacket in to the store so he could "examine" it. The jacket was clearly defective, as no piece of clothing should hurt anyone let alone a four year old child! So off I went, to take the jacket in to be "examined". While at 'The Prairie Summit Shop' on Grant Avenue, Shawn was not able to find exactly which part of the jacket scratched my daughter's chin. He told me, in this case, I had to deal directly with North Face, blatantly telling me I was full of poo. Now I am really annoyed as my daughter has no winter jacket at all! Maybe I should call up Shawn and let him explain to my daughter why she can't go outside and play in the snow for another 7-10 days while her replacement jacket from The North Face head office is being mailed to her. Maybe then, Shawn would apologize for his laziness and unwillingness to deal with the issue at bay. Thanks Prairie Summit of Winnipeg for making the job of being a mom that much harder. For a company who "is entrusted by the North Face to represent the North Face products in the best possible manner" you should be ashamed of yourself! Frustrated loyal parent of two- Kelsey P.S. - Next time I am told to shop local, I am going to bring up this story and how my local shop screwed me over! I am then going to go on to explain how the online sector of the North Face company came through and stood behind their defective product. If I choose to buy a North Face product again it MOST CERTAINLY won't be from 'The Prairie Summit Shop.'

The flagship store is at Canada Life Centre where the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose play hockey. It's convenient to grab a commemorative item or get a jersey while at this arena. The downside is that if there isn't a game on a Saturday or Sunday, this location is closed on weekends. I was at St Vital Centre and found Jets Gear's second location. It's a few stores away from London Drugs. The hours are much better. It's open when the mall is open, which is seven days a week, with some holiday exceptions. It was cool dropping by. I still don't own a Jets jersey, but it was nice seeing the variety here. I do have Manitoba Moose hoodies and Jets t-shirts. I wanted something different and perused this store. I liked seieng Perfetti's game-winning goal on t-shirts clearly indicatingin that there was 1.6 seconds left in the third period. There were two different styles in white, which is perfect for whiteout conditions when attending a Jets game. I was thrilled to see Teemu Selanne as a bobblehead. He is my favourite hockey player. This bobblehead represented his 76-goal rookie year in the NHL. I ended up getting a Jets whiteout hockey puck. I have never seen one in white. It was a limited edition. I started off as being the only customer in the store. By the time I approached the payment area, there were a bunch of shoppers browsing. Interesting! The man at the counter was cheerful. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I put the puck in my shopping bag. I thanked him and happily left the store. I love this whiteout puck. I have a handful of pucks. This one stands out because it's my only white puck in my collection. I love it. I'm glad that I dropped by this store. If you're a Jets fan looking for cool merchandise or if you're shopping for a fan, I recommend heading over here. It's a good store. (247)

This store is at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport near gate 8. On a side note, I remember overhearing a conversation years ago between a woman and a man at a Bombers game. The woman kept pronouncing bom-bers (both letter b's), which sounded weird to me. Winnipeg has Pembina Highway. That letter b is also silent, so maybe it's a Winnipeg thing to confuse people. Anyway, although the sign at the back had collegiate as a word, I did not see any merchandise pertaining to the Manitoba Bison (University of Manitoba). Perhaps it's merchandise isn't as marketable as the professional ones. It also didn't feature any Manitoba Moose (American Hockey League) merchandise. It has a greater following than the Bison, but maybe it's merchandise doesn't do well at an airport for last-minute gifts. There was nobody in this store. I'm also including staff. The variety of hoodies, flags, lanyards, and more for the Jets and Bombers were great. It also had a decent plushies section. The downside was that there weren't any sales items. I guess that's always the case at airports. You do pay more at them. I realized that The Scoreboard is a franchise. When I touched down at Toronto Pearson, I saw The Scoreboard in Terminal 1 that features Toronto sports merchandise. I own Jets merchandise. I oddly don't have any Bombers items. Maybe I'll cave the next time I'm at this airport and have the urge to support this team by getting a cap or something. (76)
