In November 2022 I received the worst haircut of my life here. I asked for layers and gave the stylist a generous tip. When I washed my hair post-appointment, I was dismayed to see the horrendous results. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. I had a very nice mani/pedi. The worst is the stairs to get there. They are horrible. It's in a very old building and the stairs had missing linoleum type pieces. I will continue to go due to excellent service and hope the building owner fixes the stair. read more

Have gone here for several years. Takes me about 45 minutes to get here. Received a reminder by text 2 days ago. Drove up and they tell me that the stylist I've seen for years isn't there anymore and I have no appointment. But they can see me on Friday! Then claim they tried to call me twice in September, but strangely I never got a voicemail. Very disappointing, Not going back, not worth burning the gas money on people who waste my time. I've come here 3 times - for a manicure, haircut, and hair color. The manicure and haircut were pretty expected for a small Aveda salon. Good service, fairly quick (45 min each) and the usual: head and arm massage before the haircut, etc. I came here to get my hair colored with balayage and regular highlights. I came at the right time since everyone had recently gotten training on new trends. I was really happy with the result! Service is pretty good. I like my stylists. The front receptionist always seems to be busy when I step up front though. I find that their prices are very good compared to other salons in Cleveland. When I was working in Oberlin, I was happy to make appointments here. Overall good salon and no complaints really. read more

Went in for a couple highlights, left with a totally brassy hair color all around. Only purpose of going in was for them to fix my roots, they didn't touch up my roots at all. They cut my hair before washing it while it was still dry. Obviously this led to uneven bangs and crooked bottoms. read more

I've been getting my hair cut here for a few years now- although it's a bit pricey for me, the hair dressers are incredibly reliable and I walk out with exactly what I wanted every time. I also get my eyebrows done occasionally and they do a great job- I like to keep them thick but groomed and they never overdo it! Highly recommend. read more

I had a bunch of unsatisfying haircuts back to back for 5 or 6 years until I made an appointment with Miriam in 2015. Ever since then, she has done an amazing job with a number of things: giving me long layers, a bob, and lightening the tips of my hair to perfectly match my natural highlights. I was so used to feeling regret and disappointment after haircuts, but I've walked away super happy every time I've worked with her! I really love Adeva and feel so lucky to have found such a great spot in Oberlin. I actually had a bad experience here as a sophomore when I asked for my hair to be cut "above my shoulders" which resulted in my hair being chopped to chin-length. But Adeva has been 100% redeemed since Miriam started cutting my hair. I'm leaving Oberlin for good in a couple weeks, and I made sure to schedule one last appointment, because I have no idea how I'm going to find a stylist who is so great, friendly, and reasonably priced in New York. Went to Aveda with my girlfriend to get a color and a cut. 40 minutes after arriving, my girlfriend texts me and says that they won't cut her hair because it wasn't scheduled for the same day at a color. I try to talk to them about it, and explain that we did in fact schedule a cut and a color for the same day and same time. But the management there is by far the worst I've witnessed. The place is run by college girls that don't understand customer service. Their service is so bad, that when I said, "we may just leave then" she said, "there's the door". I was appalled by this. She promptly when to the back to get my girlfriend, and made her leave. This is the worst business I've ever been to. Highly recommend finding another place to have your hair done. read more

I'd actually like to give this salon a 3 1/2 star rating because I think it's better than 3 but not quite a 4. First let me start by saying that I adore my stylist Amanda, she is talented and passionate about her industry. I believe she is especially talented with color. She is the type of stylist that explains to you why your hair is the way it is or what you need to do to get your desired results..I love that!! Also need to give props to Leia the esthetisan, she also very talented and professional. I have had multiple facials and waxing services by her and none have ever disappointed. It's a cute and stylish salon in the top of an old building with great windows and a cool layout. The 1 thing that I don't like about it is that the waiting room has really uncomfortable chairs. Anyway that's not really a big deal..my only other small critique is this past week I decided to get a pedicure and it was alright. My heels were actually still pretty rough afterwards, which was a disappointment considering I upgraded to the spa pedi which meant more exfoliation. Overall cute, trendy, young place with some talented people working here!! read more

I had burn marks from the brow wax, and I have been getting my eyebrows waxed for two years now and that has never happened. Also they tell you that it is 12 dollars for the brow wax but somehow it totals up to 15 dollars. read more

This is an Aveda salon/spa, so they use good products and the stylists, etc. have to meet certain standards. The only place in town that I would consider having treatments or getting my hair cut/colored. The person who does the waxing (only place in town, as far as I know, where one can get a bikini wax) only comes on certain days, so make an appointment. The place also looks pretty, tidy, relaxing, and professional, unlike they other salons in the area. read more

I got my hair cut here and was extremely upset by my experience. Courtney cut my hair and it was awful! I asked for a BLUNT cut just above my shoulders that requires no daily styling. She completely disregarded what I asked for and needed. She cut my hair to my chin with tons and tons of layers. When it was done she told me that I should blow dry it, straighten it, and add product daily. So literally the opposite of everything I asked for. I am now stuck with this egregious hair cut until it grows out enough to go pay for another (more experienced and better) hairdresser to Fix it. Until then I am sporting the chic mushroom/mom/little boy hairstyle. I cannot express how upset and sad I am. Fighting to hold back tears while Courtney artlessly lobbed off the last of my self confidence is not my idea of a successful visit to the salon. Please, if you value yourself, your confidence, your wallet, or the sanctity of hair everywhere-- DO NOT GO TO ADEVA SALON! read more

I have had mixed experiences at Adeva because I've never had the same person cut my hair twice. The first one was super cute and I loved it! The second one, which I got days before my graduation, is one of the worst haircuts I have ever gotten. As my hair has grown out in the months after this haircut, it's become more and more apparent how badly it was initially cut. Something about the layering is just poorly done so that whenever I put it in a ponytail, there are random pieces sticking out. I wish I knew more about hairstyling to pinpoint exactly what's wrong, but my hair just looks crazy. read more

I got a gel manicure and pedicure here in December and both were very poor quality. My nails were uneven and the polish was sloppy. The individual employees are friendly and nice but the customer service is horrible. Their phone etiquette is very poor and flippant, not very polite or accommodating. I recently called to get an appointment and the 2 staff members I spoke to don't make it easy to understand what options are available or make a big effort to help. It seems as if I'm doing them a favor to come into their salon, not the other way around. This salon is nice inside and the people I have dealt with in-person are nice and pleasant but trying to get an appointment or get information is uncomfortable and frustrating. Plus the services I have received are not the highest quality. I am going in again this week to give Adeva another shot but the receptionist I spoke with was short on the phone and not very friendly. read more

I visit Oberlin periodically and came in to have my brows, etc waxed by Leia. She was fantastic! Very clean, knowledgeable, gentle - no after wax breakout, no red or burned skin. Loved the eyebrow shaping! I felt well taken care of and beautiful when I left. What more can you ask for? As for the price - well worth it! read more

Great place to get a haircut. My hair is straight as a pencil, and my face is as round as the full moon -- which presents a challenge to any creative endeavors. I was looking like Cousin It so I gave Marissa free rein and asked her to work her magic -- love love the result. Marissa did a great job! She layered my hair (I was nervous) and cut it in a way that it "curls" and frames my face without extra fussing in the mornings. I've gotten many compliments. I've also been there twice for a lip wax, and that needs a little more attention to detail. They always miss something, but I'll try again with a third person. Kelly, the receptionist, is very helpful and has set up my next appointment with a different staff. (Don't you love staff that listens and pays attention?) So like any place, one has to figure out one's favorite staff. Aveda is located on the second floor in an old building that does not have an elevator. This can present challenges if you have difficulty going up / down a long flight of stairs. But I think it's worth it and plan to go back again as long as Marissa cuts hair. read more
