No one in our family or friends circle really had any idea what they were in store for. First, the staff at Spillian was amazing!! From Mark, Tracie, the chefs and everyone else involved, thank you for having us, we will never forget it! From the very start, Mark was extremely easy and supportive to work with! He takes great pride with the venue, and we really fell in love with it from our first visit this past winter, when there was still snow on the ground. The second we drove off we knew we had to book ASAP. We booked Spillian for the entire weekend, from Friday afternoon through Sunday! Mark was totally flexible with check in time on Friday and check out time on Sunday, which we greatly appreciated. Mark walked us through the entire process and welcomed any suggestions or ideas. He also gave us his advice and suggestions, which was awesome, as he knows Spillian weddings best! He was always open to email and phone calls through the entire planning process, and response time was rapid fast. The weather really held up our weekend, but the staff was always prepared with a backup plan. We kicked off the weekend with a beautiful rehearsal dinner for our closest family and wedding party. This included open bar with wine and beer, and an extraordinary and delicious BBQ, with a few vegan dishes for some of our guests. After dinner we all went to the area where reception would be held to practice. After several glasses of wine and beer, thank god Mark was there to give the entire wedding party some suggestions as well as playing DJ for us! On a side note, Mark always knew when I was getting a little stressed, before rehearsal dinner and before the ceremony, he would come up to me say " I know what you need" and come back with a little liquid encouragement haha. Thank you for that! For a couple who really loves the outdoors and were looking for an intimate wedding venue we are truly blessed that we found Spillian. It truly is a magical place, it was our fairytale wedding in the forest. All the food from rehearsal dinner, to morning brunches, and reception is all cooked on site and was unanimously voted by all guests as amazing! The band even emailed us separately letting us know that it was some of the best and freshest trout that they have ever had, and they host a lot of weddings! Cocktail hour was on the porch and although we did not get to see the charcuterie board because we were taking pictures, we heard that there was always a line to get to it. It ended up being a beautiful night in the Catskills, with almost no clouds in the sky. We had 10 picnic style tables around a bon fire, and a live band next to them. It really was a unique venue! Most of our guests were really astonished and I believe had a great time. The house itself and all the bedrooms are amazing and unique, one with a patio entrance as well as several bathrooms. Can't go wrong with any of them. Thank you to Mark and the entire Spillian family for hosting our special day, we will never forget it!! The warmth of the fire is exceeded only by the warmth of your hosts, Linda and Hugh. This is my country home and I don't have to worry about maintenance. Just splendid!

We didn't use all the perks that come with a stay, (the pool The Kaleidoscope show, the restaurant or any paid spa services). We did their hot steam sauna, which was as it should be. The sauna entrance is an antique- just lovely. One can make a cup of tea/coffee in the lobby there. Our suite had complimentary slippers, which I wore the whole time I was there, three TVs, which we didn't use, a fridge as well as a little coffee station. The spa had lockers and long bathrobes available. We walked outside quite aways to get to the spa from our suite. But I have a feeling if we'd been unable or asked ahead they would have picked us up with a golf cart. As it is, we rode the loaner bikes they had outside of the lobby on our way back. Note adjust the seat to be higher or lower- it's easy. Our suite was very spacious and part of the Old Lodge. There's a nice creek flowing out back and we sat on our little balcony while we had coffee. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the relative privacy. Yes the rugs and the countertops/shower/tubs should be upgraded. (I think there's a newer section of the Emerson so ask). As it stands we were pretty happy with our stay. We had family in other rooms and paid about $500/night for ours.

As a guest, it is pretty cool to pretty much have a place for the weekend, and do events the entire weekend. Also not to mention to not have a curfew or any time restrictions. First on friday, in the evening, we attended the toast. it was nice, and pretty cool to ride in a golf cart on the way to your destinations in between places. Only thing is it is a little cold to do things outside. the heat lamps at the toast did help, but everytime the wind blew and that the ground was wet, it was making everything cold, including me. Anyways tho, the event was gorgeous, and it was a perfect stay underneath the pavolon. The next day was the wedding. And again a bit cold to be outside, but bundling up helps. The view was gorgeous with mountains surrounding everyone. Next we took the golf carts to the barn. Will admit, since there was lots of people, it should have been a little more organized as far as getting people on the golf carts, but i think they managed pretty well. Now the barn, is so beautiful! Love the big setting with the bar, and the bar outside as well. Didn't really like the music tho, but that's more up to the wedding party-- like a little less electronic sounds and more full songs. If i danced to the full everytime we touched by cascada it would have been awesome! the floor is heated in the barn and it was pretty warm in there, which helped the people who were cold from the outdoors at least. love the atmosphere and it is a big place also. On Sunday, we went back to the barn for some breakfast. again tho kind of cold if people leave the barn door open. Overall fun atmosphere and cool place. Definetely different from the normal city husslers.

We wanted to have a different wedding from the "cookie-cutter" country clubs that we had been to so…read moremany of before. We couldn't have wished for a better location, right from the moment we saw Stone Tavern Farm, we fell in love with the place. The fact you have no time restrictions and can pretty much do whatever you want for a whole weekend meant our wedding would be completely unique.We got married at the end of September and had stunning weather as well as early fall leaf colors, it was perfect. We worked closely with John (the owner), Ashley (wedding coordinator) and Colin (onsite manager). Leading up to the wedding, John and Ashley are clearly very busy and sometimes didn't respond as quickly as we would have liked, but when they did, they calmly fixed all of our concerns. We were having nearly 200 people for the weekend and due to there being another wedding location nearby, finding accomodation for later responders was challenging but John promised everyone would get somewhere and he personally insured it happened. When it's your wedding week, John and his team make you feel like the most important people in the world and they handle EVERYTHING. From the cake topper breaking the morning of the wedding, to making sure all the guests are well taken care of while waiting for the ceremony to start (because our first look photos took longer than expected), to ensuring the bridal and groom actually get to eat at the cocktail hour and reception, to a STUNNING fireworks show! As with any wedding there is a great deal of planning involved. Because we were having a 3 day event, this workload was tripled. We started by looking at vendors recommended by Stone Tavern Farm as well as some of our own. Friday night we had John's BBQ (delicious!) and karaoke. Saturday we had cold cuts for lunch and lawn games and then for the ceremony used the phenomenal Rhinecliff as our caterers (Dale and James were LEGENDS) and the sublime Larry Siegel Band for our musicians. Sunday was a wonderful brunch in the pavillion (STF provided). Our flowers were provided by the Catskill Flower Shop and they were simply stunning, Lydia was extremely easy to work with and thoroughly professional. The talented Hendrick Moy was our wedding photographer. Also, Ashley did a wonderful job with our drapes and decor. All of these vendors were some of the finest I had ever seen at ANY wedding. The Rhinecliff catered to our Italian family on the bride's side and English family on the groom's side. Cocktail hour was well served and the main courses were hot and delicious (go for the short ribs!) The Larry Siegel Band were a 7 piece live band that played for almost 5 hours, they had a varied repertoire and all of our guests were floored by their talents. The drummer even played with the B52's in a previous life! When we met with Lydia at the Catskill Flower shop she took our "vision" and turned it into perfect table arrangements, bouquets, and other details into reality. Lydia even helped us to build on our ideas and gave us great recommendations for candles and other small details that made the ceremony site and barn look absolutely beautiful. Our only issue was with Rolling V Transportation. They were providing transportation for our guests to and from the ceremony. I would not recommend them at all, they wanted to pick up some guests at 12pm for a 4pm wedding start! They were completely useless and didn't seem to know the area at all. Thankfully John and Ashley stepped in and personally ensured that everyone got to and from the wedding. All in all we had a completely stunning and memorable wedding. Many people commented that it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. Standing outside the barn at the cigar bar watching the climax of the day a huge private fireworks display cannot be put into words. Thank you everyone at Stone Tavern Farm for making our wedding the greatest day of our lives.

We texted our friends who were bowling to kindly bring us a tampon and before they were able to reach us an older women with fully white hair banged and opened the door saying she was going to call the state troupers on us. All we were doing was staying in the bathroom stressed that one of us started our periods. we all felt extremely paranoid and uncomfortable by the workers and disliked the whole experience.

I don't quite know how to describe our getaway to Winter Clove Inn this December. My overall sense…read moreis that many guests are returning families, for whom Winter Clove Inn holds special nostalgic memories, and they love it here. However, new guests that are expecting a 5-star resort based on Google classification will likely be pretty disappointed. The main Inn is old and charming, but it and the adjacent property buildings are showing their age in a not-so-charming way. For example, two of our five guest rooms in Oak Lodge had broken heat, which the property was certainly aware of as they had placed space heaters in the rooms before our arrival. During our last day, there was no water at all in the Carriage House, so guests could not flush toilets or wash hands, even after bowling! Really basic features you would expect in even a roadside motel, such as tissues in guest rooms, were not provided. Toilet seats that needed replacing are mismatched, with oval seats on square front toilets, and the toilet cover in the main lodge was broken and not repaired during our stay. Despite being "pet-free," blankets smelled like dog. Despite the rustic accommodations, our family created our own fun together. Our reserved table in the dining room was uncomfortably tight for 13 guests, which was continually apparent during the slow food service. The amount of food at each meal was plentiful, but servers were poorly trained as they repeatedly failed to clear place settings from one course before bringing another course, and repeatedly miscounted orders bringing the incorrect number of soups, desserts, etc. Aside from some disappointing low points, such as the embarrassing frozen mixed vegetables being served as the "vegetable of the day," or uncut unripe honeydew wedges served as the fruit option, the meals were basic but acceptable fare.

Will definitely be working with their amazing customer service team the next time we take a group trip. The River House in Catskill, NY is a beautiful property with unique charm and character. The setting is peaceful and scenic, and we really enjoyed spotting deer, bald eagles, groundhogs, and other wildlife during our stay (lots of ticks). - We chose this property for a combined bachelor/bachelorette trip with a large group of ~30 people, so our expectations were understandably high. For an occasion this special, we hoped for a comfortable, clean, and well-equipped home that could easily accommodate everyone. While the location and layout had great potential, issues with maintenance, cleanliness, and limited kitchen facilities made the stay more challenging than expected. - The house had 2 spacious living areas that were great for indoor games and hanging out, especially on rainy days. It was one of the highlights that made the space enjoyable for a large group. However, there was a strange, unkempt stage-like structure on the property that felt out of place and made a few people uncomfortable -- it added to the sense that parts of the property weren't well maintained. - We chose AvantStay after months of research because they specialize in large group rentals, and while the booking process was smooth, the experience lacked the warmth & attention to detail a local host might provide. - For the $13,000 price, there were quite a few disappointing issues. We found wrappers and earplugs under the bed in the master suite, dead bugs in the basement rooms, worn-out couch cushions, and a dirty sponge in the sink. The shower curtains were cheap, the kitchen pantry and cabinets were disorganized, and the dishwasher shelves were broken. The indoor plants were dead, the flower beds overgrown, and there was only one small stove/oven -- not enough to cook for 28 people. - That said, the local concierge was responsive. He brought us extra tables and chairs when requested and quickly replied when we flagged the house being too hot and the lack of extra linens.

The trails are pretty easy and I do love the shredded mozzarella one since there's a lot of little hills to do jumps and have fun with it (no, I didn't do any of that LOL). Fell a few times getting off the ski lift. It was pretty funny and tragic at the same time since I actually grabbed my friend and pulled her down with me. I have no idea what I was thinking but def wish it wasn't so icy and a little flatter would be great haha. Other than that, it was great! It was snowing but it wasn't sticking so the trails were a bit slushy and icy. Again, nothing to do with the location just nature being nature! It was definitely fun. Not my favorite mountain or anything but it was great! The bathrooms were spacious, they even had changing rooms. The lodge itself was pretty cool! LOVED the indoor fireplace. The 2nd floor was where it was at: the bar! These people were amazing, serving away, great energy great drinks. The Jamaican Hot Chocolate was to die for (I think that's what it was called!). Basically spiked hot chocolate with coconut rum. SOOOO GOOD. Plenty of food options: chicken tenders, fries, pizza. You know, easy stuff! Outside there's a little waffle stand so you can go get your waffles before they sell out! Outside space is great too, you can chill by the seats and heat warmers or the fire pits. It's really a great space to even come and watch others ski and snowboard. Would I go back? Yes! Immediately, no! But yes I would :)

There are some great vertical drops. But... this is a mountain mostly for people with experience. I think it was a small family place that has grown and become more popular. The facilities and slopes haven't kept pace with that growth. -Most of the trails were ungroomed -Trails are not marked properly ... something is labeled a black diamond on the slopes, but a double-black on the map -There is one green run for kids and only 2 wide open blues -Most of the blue runs are chutes or narrow lanes -There are 2 lifts only. Crowded in the morning, not a big deal later on Lift tickets -Fairly priced -I accidentally bought tix for the wrong date (Sunday instead of the Saturday were were) and there is a $20 "rebooking fee". Seemed like an unnecessary money grab. The staff person was curt and rude. The lodge -Geared towards families that come there a lot (they get lockers) -Apres ski bar/music thing ... which kind of looked fun, just saying -Small and crowded on a Saturday -It's hard to find a table at lunch. Eventhough there are signs warning against it, people put their bags on tables to reserve them. We sat at one such table for 45 min without issue, and the older couple rudely kicked us off saying it was there, they had claimed it and were theirs. -Another 3 tables were pushed together and taken over with piles of half eaten food and a sign saying "don't touch our food". This isn't your personal freaking dining room. -One kid (12 years old?) mouthed off to a staff member (30's?) who responded to the kid "how would you like it if I punched you in the eye". IDK what the kid said and maybe they are related. who knows -2 bathrooms with long lines and the downstairs one was in desperate need of cleaning. -I got a veggie burger that was not a black bean burger as promised and instead some awful veggie patty connoction. It was ok once drowned in ketchup. -The parking terrible. It's $20 for the better lot, which is unpaved and as it got warmer turned into a river of mud. I'll be hosing off my equipment and clothes for sure. Otherwise, the 2nd parking lot filled up and people had to park a 1/2 mile down the road.
