July 2025 Review - This clinic failed me on every level--clinically, ethically, and professionally. After receiving multiple cavity fillings at this clinic, I began experiencing pain and returned for a follow-up. Instead of properly investigating, the attending dentist (Dr. Keem) dismissed my concerns entirely and shifted the blame to my wisdom teeth. He either deliberately misled me or was grossly incompetent. The real issue was right there in the X-ray--which my new dentist pointed out immediately after I switched providers. That X-ray (attached) shows two critical problems: One filling was poorly done, leaving an open gap where bacteria could easily enter. This is a clear sign of negligent workmanship. Another filling was placed far too close to the nerve, which led to an active infection and now requires a root canal--something entirely preventable with proper care. Let me be clear: I do not blame the original dentist (Roya) who did the fillings. She performed five in one sitting, and while not perfect, she was professional and did her best. My issue is with the follow-up dentist, who didn't just overlook the problem--he ignored it, gaslighted me, and made me feel foolish for asking legitimate questions about my own health. This kind of carelessness isn't just inconvenient--it's dangerous. When a patient raises a concern and is met with arrogance instead of proper diagnosis, that's a failure of ethics, not just competence. What adds insult to injury is the fact that since switching dentists and raising these concerns publicly, the clinic has remained completely silent. No apology. No ownership. Not even a basic acknowledgment of the issue. That silence speaks louder than any scripted reply ever could. It tells you exactly how much they care once they've been paid: not at all. I will be reporting this case, with documentation, to the appropriate dental regulatory board. This kind of negligence and unprofessional behavior should not be allowed to continue unchecked. I had to insist--only to find there was no issue with the wisdom tooth at all. Worse, he never examined the actual tooth causing the pain and dismissed my concerns entirely. Even a simple bite check was rushed. I walked in with discomfort and walked out without a diagnosis, resolution, or even a basic level of care. It's been nearly two years since I'd moved to Toronto, and just about that long since I'd last had a dental checkup and cleaning. Needless to say, whatever unlucky dentist and hygienist that were going to take a crack at my pearly greens was going to have their work cut out for them. Luckily, Adelaide Dental rose to the challenge. Sol at the front desk is very friendly and expedient. Extra points for being open on Saturdays! Both the dentist and the hygienist were pretty gentle and extremely thorough. It's probably the most thorough dental cleaning I've ever had -- and that's a good thing. I left with a much pearlier set of chompers and a clean bill of health (no cavities! yay!). I like that the downtown location is extremely convenient to the subway, and the office is very clean. The only downside is that they use the regular x-ray film rather than digital x-rays (the latter, in my experience, is far easier and faster to take). Other than that, my experience at Adelaide Dental has been stellar. It's too bad I won't be living in Toronto very much longer, otherwise they'd definitely be my regular dentist. read more

i came here because i've read they do tooth extraction. I dont have insurance and i wanted a dentist to perform this to avoid further consultation fee of going though another referral. my tooth was totally broken and i already have the mindset to extract it. when i came they charged me emergency consultation, xrays and had me come back at later time to perform the extraction itself. My experience with this dental office was entirely positive. I hadn't been to the dentist in a while and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was immediately put at ease. It turns out that all I needed was a good cleaning, which was cheerfully done by a hygienist whose name I can't recall. I found the Dr. Shahmolky herself to be brisk, efficient and cordial. so far it was OK, I had a root canal and fixed some teeth that a Polish dentist hiding under a British skin screwed up in London, UK (James Goolnik, Bow lane dental London,UK) Ms Shalmolky is 10 times more intelligent and skilled dentist than anyone in the UK. However if I notice any failure to my root canal I will get back here and post my opinion. I do not trust root canals and I am in constant worry when will my tooth fall out. I recently fell down and broke my front tooth. I emailed Adelaide Dental, requesting an emergency appointment. To my surprise, I got a response right away, offering me an appointment for the next day. I found the dentist, Dr. Shahmolky, to be meticulous and super nice. After she fixed the problem, she explained my options and the pros and cons of each. She did not pressure me to go with a particular option. I am visiting Toronto for few months and I wanted to do teeth cleanup (no insurance). I looked up the closest dentist to my place. I have got appointment at 11:15 Am, reach the office at 11:10 AM, met the hygienist at 11:45 AM and left 12:20 PM. The hygienist recommended to do xrai which I didn't do. she was very kind and nice. However she only did lower side teeth cleaning and asked me to come back to do the upper side. I do have a healthy teeth which I cleanup regularly. It's the first time I see half cleaning ! I am pretty jaded about dentists, and I've been to about 6 over the last 15 years, but I have had nothing but really wonderful, professional experiences here! They go out of their way to accommodate. Once when I was going to be losing dental insurance for a period of time while traveling in between jobs, they went out of their way to make sure I would be okay for a few months, and even took picture of a tooth issue for me in case I needed to show a different dentist in the future. The worst dentist I've ever been to. As another review said, the receptionist was extremely friendly and kind. Dr. Shahmolsky is another story. Although the emergency filling she did on my tooth was fine, it was her non-existent professionalism that was the problem. No one wants to go to the dentist, but when you're there, you'd expect a kind professional and not the unfriendly, condescending and cold dentist that is Dr. Shahmolsky. If you want to be talked down to, be subjected to rude comments as she works on your teeth, then yes, she is the one to go to. Otherwise, go somewhere else. I went to this office in an emergency after two doctors and another dentist could not diagnose the pain in my mouth. Dr. Shahmolky recommended an action plan for me on how to get medical help after it was determined that my issue was not tooth related. Booking an appointment by e mail I was met with replies from a mobile device signed "Reception' who is not actually at reception or anywhere discernable when I called the actual reception. A slew of e-mails and 2 phone calls later I had an appointment. Unfortunately they seem to have booked a buffer period in such that I was guaranteed to waste 15 minutes sitting in their reception. They did this after being told I had another meeting right after. The greatest currency in downtown Toronto is time, if yours is precious this may not be your first choice. The dental office is average as others. I joined this center as I was visiting a client in the area and needed a dental services that time. I had noticed following issues and finally decided to quit them. - the receptionist now is very rude, they let go the previos one, who was very nice. - they treat patients like customers and each visit is like a business transaction, no personal touch. they bother you with so many emails and calls for an appointment as if you are about to miss your wedding. - lastly they push services that may not be required, because insuraces cover it. I was recommneded something and I was hasitant as it would require few sittings. I was clearly mentioned time and again that the expenses are covered by insurance. When I refused politely (that I will think about it later) as I did think it was necessary, I used to get calls after calls to book an appointment until I said NO I DONT NEED IT. My other dentist confirmed later that it was not required. All in all, there are numerous dental centers they are no diffetrent, in fact, my experiences were not so good. I went into this clinic, reading the positive reviews. I went 5 times, all for fillings. The first time I had a problem (one filling was uneven and ultimately caused the bottom tooth to crack due to pressure), I never realized it was due to Dr. Shahmolky's "work" so I'll not put this at her door. However, the last time, I came in for a front tooth filling, which she did. Right after the anesthesic wore off, I could tell that there was a problem. When she drilled, she exposed a gap between my front two tooth, allowing air to go in and causing intense sensitivity and pain. I rescheduled a follow up (as they never do any follow ups), hoping to get that fixed (even willing to pay, but didn't imagine I would be asked to, as this was clearly caused by the last work done). I never dreamt that a) Dr. SH would keep me waiting and even send in her assistant to question me, because she didn't want to ask me directly (for whatever reason), b) be EXTREMELY dismissive and condescending of my concerns, basically saying "I" created this problem (didn't deign to explain how I could cause it without a drill) and said the words "this is what customers (not patients) do, they get work done and then they come back crying about problems"!! I have NEVER been treated like this by anyone who rendered me services, least of all a doctor!! Even then,she wasn't willing to fix my problem, despite the fact that I told her I was in pain. She palmed off some toothpaste and told me to get back to her in a week. I was reeling from the TOTAL lack of responsibility she took for her clearly shoddy work! And then, after two weeks, when I told her office I was interested in getting my X-ray back, the flurry of calls started. Last one finally managed to admit that the reason to call is not to enquire about my condition, but because apparently the X-ray (I was told this was billed for in my original appointment) has apparently "not been paid for"!! This is outrageous usury and I have declined to pay. Do NOT go to this place if you value service (or even honesty). I went for convenience, as I work downtown, but I have paid for it. This review is from a medical practitioner. This "dentist" is almost incompetent, almost malpractice-worthy in my personal opinion. I came in for a problem with one tooth. Before the dentist ever came in, her tech looked at the tooth and mentioned it doesn't look good. To anyone without a medical degree it wouldn't look good to the unaided eye. It's that obvious. Anyways, the tech decided to take a whole mouth x-ray instead of an x-ray of the affected area. You don't take a whole mouth x-ray when the problem is one tooth only! Exposing someone to that much radiation when there is no need to is virtual malpractice or unethical at best. The "dentist" came in afterwards and looked into my mouth but didn't touch anything inside. She said nothing was wrong after looking in there, that everything looks normal. I tried to explain to her the problem, my pain, its location, its derivation, and precisely why it's not normal and how it looked normally before the problem started. She still said nothing was wrong and didn't listen. Then she prescribed me something for my problem and, in short, said goodbye and gave me the bill. Hey "doc": why prescribe something if nothing is, according to you, wrong with my tooth? Why take an x-ray if nothing is wrong? That's malpractice or unethical too, isn't it. This fool needs to go back to dental school. She did not do the proper work necessary to thoroughly and properly assess nor treat my problem.
