I almost don't want to write the review. I fear the place will become even more discovered than it already is. Every Tuesday beginning about 16:00 there is pure, untraditional, lovely fado music and singing. Get there early. It's very small. We heard very little English (though the very friendly regulars turned out to be quite fluent). The singing is superb. Half the customers are also singers or guitarists or, even, the poet who wrote most of the songs (Fernando Alves). Small plates are available but good luck ordering them unless you are there early. But a half-liter carafe of wine will set you back 1.55 euros (!) and you can nurse it through all 3 or 4 sets of performances. You've probably guessed this was a highlight of our time in Portugal. Kudos to the bloggers at Portoalities from whom we learned about Adega Rio Douro! read more
