It's a big establishment that looks beautiful outside and inside. Our waiter was very observant, bringing another customer napkins when he saw the customer had spilled something on himself, and bringing us more bread when he saw we were almost done. However, he mixed up the combinations of our orders. The beef steak order was supposed to have Portuguese sauce with fried eggs but there were no eggs and it came with mustard sauce, which didn't taste as good as the Portuguese sauce. The chicken steak was supposed to come in mustard sauce and no fried egg but it was covered in Portuguese sauce topped with a fried egg. Pao Torrado Fatitas (bread) - .65 euros. 2 Manteiga, 2 Manteiga Alho (4 packs of butter)- 3.20 euros. The garlic butter was too addicting for my own good. The beef/chicken steaks drenched with either Portuguese or mustard sauce came with two free sides (rice, salad, etcand a fried egg for an extra charge. The chicken steak was only 9.95 euros while the beef steak was 15.60 euros. I absolutely loved the spinach purée side, it didn't sound appetizing but it was so bomb. Try dipping your fries in it! Overall, the chicken steak was a bit boring even with the sauce. They didn't have hamburgers left.

Upon seating, you'll be served homemade bread with olives, cheese, hot and juicy sausage (I'm pretty sure it was the chourico assado). As our main meal, we ordered the sea bass, sardines, and French fries. Although it sounds like simple food, it was insanely fresh, hot, and delicious. We had a whole bottle of vinho verde, only amount to about 6 euros, and it was amazing. This place was filled with locals. If you're headed to Lisbon, go here. Go to the local places. You may just have one of the most memorable meal of your life

So I'm…read moregoing to assume my experience was totally different because of staff or just over time decline of service. But it completely soured my experience of Portugal. We wanted to try authentic homemade food and everything at first was great. They had olives and cheese placed on the table and then someone handed us some chorizo. They handed my husband the plate and said "chorizo really nice" and he placed it on the table. We looked confused said we didn't order it but he gestured to try it. We said thank you and went to order our food (basic and okay. Maybe 6/10. They didn't have half of the items we initially wanted to try) finished and got up to paid. The olives (which we didn't eat because I'm pregnant and they made me violently nauseous)cheese and chorizo (which I also can't have because it's cured meat) were surprisingly on our check. We mentioned we didn't order it, that it was on our table & they said "well you ate it". We assumed it was a nice gesture, and the attitude we got from that simple statement after asking about it changed their entire mood towards us. Then one of the staff said "they just don't want to pay". We didn't carry enough cash on us to pay the entire bill because of it and they immediately started accusing of being thieves. They told my husband to go get cash while I stayed behind as like collateral? We were traveling in another country and I'm pregnant, with no cell service. That's not happening so when we said no that's not an option they became more hostile and aggressive. You hear about scams on the streets but beware of this particular place that will trick you into paying more then get aggressive when you question the bill. MAJOR SKIP.

The room is bright, lively, and full of energy, with an open kitchen and wood fired oven that immediately sets the tone. The pizza is exactly what you hope for. Light, airy crust with just the right amount of char, simple ingredients, and perfect balance. Every bite tastes intentional and well executed, the kind of pizza that does not need anything extra to impress. The pasta is just as strong. Rich, comforting, and full of flavor, it feels like something you would be served at a neighborhood spot in Italy rather than an Italian restaurant abroad. Nothing feels overdone or adapted for tourists. It tastes authentic and confident. The atmosphere adds to the experience. It is busy without feeling chaotic, polished without feeling formal. You can tell people come here to eat well and enjoy themselves, not to rush through a meal. Forno D'Oro delivers exactly what it promises. Exceptional Italian food, a warm and energetic space, and a dining experience that genuinely makes you feel transported. If you are craving true Italian pizza and pasta in Lisbon, this is an easy yes.

Everything else about the visit was extremely pleasant though. There was a bit of a wait for our table even though we had a reservation, but the folks ahead of us who were at our table were having such a good time that I didn't even mind waiting for them to finish up their drinks. Our server was attentive the entire time which was very much appreciated. There's a cool ambiance about this restaurant -- everyone here (except me!) were dressed very trendy. We started off with a round of caipirinhas which were well made and strong. For pizzas, we went with the caprese and margherita pizzas which were a nice balance. The caprese was topped with fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes which were refreshing. The margherita was everything you'd expect it to be. If you're craving pizza in Lisbon, give this place a try!
