Always a great experience going here. Fun vibe and everyone is mostly pretty nice and giddy. Thurs and Sundays are usually free entry and fri and sat is ticketed. There's a good amount of food vendors and they take card. There's a couple of main areas with different shows, dancing, music, etc. Fun to come with friends or family and chill, eat good food, and drink beer. Talk about a great event to have a fun time, try some great foods and drink some beer! Addison Oktoberfest is one of the funnest events that this city holds. If you have not been yet, you should check it out if you want to have a fun day. I went during the nighttime so that the weather was cooler than during the day. Everything had long lines, but if you wait until about 9:30-10:00PM all the lines pretty much went away and all the food was easy to try. There are a bunch of vendors to shop from, so many foods to try, and the main party hall was so much to see all of the dancing and festivities. 5/5 experience! read more

first of all, it's not Oktoberfest it is September fest and it is 100° in Texas in September and the website did not tell you where to park or where the entrances were so you left your own guessing it was not wheelchair friendly. Been going for about 12 years. This was the worst. They tried to make it family friendly, but kids don't belong at Oktoberfest. No Spaetzle...bad food in general and you had to wait 30 minutes for a beer. So get your beer and immediately get back in line because you'll be done by the time you get back. Total trash festival. It was the most popular! Lol. I loved the German Costumes, the Weeny Dogs and the popularity of the Wennies. Heck, it was more like a Weeny Fest! They might as well call it the Weeny Fest! Lmbo!.. I also enjoyed the old school rides, indoor seating and backdrops for photos. I recommend going when its free so you wont complain about the the prices for food and drinks. How would I describe Oktoberfest? The mini drunk version of the Texas State Fair. I mean this in a good way. Being completely unfamiliar with what Oktoberfest celebrated, my friends and I traveled here on Thursday (free admission) to see what all the fuss was about. We scored free parking at a garage near the festival, and avoid the hefty $20 parking fee near the Circle. There were two places to buy tickets, which is the currency used to purchase food and drinks at the festival. 1 ticket = $1. They are located at tents at the entrance or back tent of the festival. I recommend bringing cash to valid standing in the long credit card lines or paying the $3 fee from the atms. Beer was good, super crisp, plus you could purchase memorabilia for this year's festival. The main places to buy food are the booths along the right side of the park, or the large tent in the back of the park. In the booths you'll find more State Fair type items: funnel cake, sweet tea, potato tornadoes, popcorn. In the large tent you'll find a cafeteria styled setting with large tables to sit at, and food stations to order. They offer turkey legs, soft pretzels (dry AF, avoid), and other German delicacies. There are a ton of booths through out Addison circle where you can get free things for walking up to talk them them. Entertainment was found at the front stage near the entrance, or in the large tent in the back of the park. Overall I had a blast. I got my funnel cake craving filled for 7 tickets, and had a blast with my friends. Probably would only come on the free admission day as parking is expensive if you can't find it for free, and events are similar to the state fair (to me anyways). read more

The wife and I came here this past Sunday and had a nice time. It rained the day before so the grass area was wet and muddy. That's ok because we spent most of our time walking on the concrete paths. This place is 38 minutes from our house in Fort Worth, so we're glad it didn't disappoint. Oh and it's free admission on Sundays. WINNING! The atmosphere definitely screams 'Oktoberfest'. You see people dressed up in their beer fest outfits and there's all sorts of fall decorations around you. Wish I would've came with a big group of friends to drink with. My wife doesn't drink so I just had one beer by myself. Prices are a bit steep for beer and food, but that's expected at these annual events. My cup of beer was $8. I had the light Paulaner Munchen. It definitely tasted like Oktober and was super refreshing. The wife and I walked around and got a bunch of freebies, so no complaints there. We also watched the Dachshund race and enjoyed being around all of the celebrations. Would I come back next year? Heck yes! I love the fall and this event definitely gives you the fall feels. One of the BEST festivals that I have gone to in the Dallas area. Parking was free on the Saturday that we went (We parked in a garage across the street). It wasn't that hot and the food was delicious! We didn't end up getting any beer/alcoholic beverages that day, but we did end up getting the awesome tin beer mug that we filled up with root beer. That was 15 dollars and it can only be purchased through cash/credit. The root beer refills were also unlimited, which was a great plus! We went into the tent to watch a few shows and to cool off throughout the day and enjoyed the sausage plate inside. I believe it was 9 tickets? Not sure. It was worth the price for the amount of food you got. We also got a flaky, sweet cheese strudel! VERRYY good! We got it from the booth outside and was well worth the 5 or 6 tickets that we used for that deliciousness. The corn was also heavenly! So much so, that we ended up getting three ears of corn. Yes, we are huge corn lovers. We drenched it with butter and put on a lot of the sauces and powders on the side to devour them. We also got a freshly squeezed lemonade, which was not too sweet and not too tart. We also had a pork flank? It was verrryyyyy tender and literally melted in our mouths. We came here on Sunday to avoid the crowd and also because admission is free on that day. It was the perfect weather, slightly overcast which kept it cool. The organization was great from the pre-provided map and menu, to the parking, to the traffic flow of the festival. I felt that it was not that crowded and there were plenty of things for everyone (including a carnival area for kids). There is a ticket system so that you are not paying cash or card at any of the booths. This forced to to plan out what you were going to spend so you are not left with extra tickets at the end of the day, which is annoying. I thought the vendors were very good and offered food true to the festival's namesake. However, the beer selection was not as vast as I would have expected. they had Marriott and Crowne Plaza as vendors. They made some changes this year and structured it a little more, reducing the amount of food stands a little, adding more seating on the grass and moving all the entrances into one area to be able to check bags. The food is still excellent with lots of variety, all of it somewhat Germany related as is the theme. The beer offerings were limited to the sponsor's beers, so Paulaner Oktoberfest, Wheat and Pilsner. The prices aren't cheap, with $6 for a beer refill and food around $6 to $10, but the fun atmosphere and the food you otherwise won't get is well worth it. read more

We go every year, except when I had to waddle too much from pregnancy. Wonderful food, great games and rides, plus you get to see people walking around in chicken hats. Really what's better than drunk people with chicken hats ;0) really fun for the kids and they get to stay up late. It's the best thing we go to besides the State Fair. If Selim's is there with their gyros, GET ONE!!! They are the best I have had outside Germany. Bring your older steins and they'll fill them with the refill cost. Really nice if you have the bigger ones from previous years. So far they have had if you get there before 5p you get a discounted cost, check their web page if they offer it the year you're going. Plus Kroger or Tom Thumb have discounted tickets and they have the bring such and such, etc. days. The big food tent is always full unless you're there at the start of the day. It's loud and may not be liked by the kids. Towards the evening it'll be hard to find seating. Really you can get better food outside. But hamburgers and hotdogs are inside for kids then go outside to eat. At least it's air conditioned if it's hot. They have the dancing there too. Really great to watch your kids do the chicken dance! I say go, have fun, forget your adults, but bring money cuz you'll want to drink, be merry and try all the food and rides. I heart Oktoberfest. I wait for it every year! There were a few years where I wasn't able to go, and it was very sad... I went every year as a kid with my mom and my best friend (our moms tended to spend time with their beers while M and I rode the rides and ate sausages. Ahh, the good ol days!). Finally, I've been able to start going again. I'll tell you going into it: it isn't cheap. $5 anytime admission tickets are available at local Albertson's stores, but they can sometimes sell out well before the end of the event. Regular admission is between $5-$10 at the gate. Then $5 for a beer ($12 for the collectible glass beer mug, refillable for $5), $4 for a brat, $6 for potatoes, $3 for lemonade (or $5 for a refillable cup and then $3 for refills), $6 for a potato pancake, $5 for strudel.. Not to mention the rides if you've got kids (or, you've got a friend who always rides the rides that make me want to puke. Like our friend R): and in that case you can add in cotton candy ($5) and funnel cake ($6). Once inside, head to the tickets line. And if you are there on Saturday, you'll be waiting a long long while. That was the main thing I noticed on Saturday... SO MANY PEOPLE. A lot of this can probably be attributed to all the rain on Friday evening, so most of the folks who would've gone on Friday came on Saturday instead. But the lines were insane. Over an hour to get tickets and one beer. That's nuts. My blood sugar plummeted while waiting in line for tickets (I was waiting for all the delicious food and failed to eat before getting there...), so my friends were nice enough to get me tickets as I sat inside the air conditioned tent with the loud Oompa band and all the people in lederhosen. Another complaint I have is the people who come to Oktoberfest JUST TO SIT in the tent. They'll camp out on a section of table and be there for hours. Everything in there is open, family-style seating at long tables with benches. Be polite, people. If you've been in there for 4 hours, maybe quit saving an entire table for your buddies and go walk around with them. I get it: it's air conditioned and the band is there and there's booze at 4-5 different stands. But c'mon. Don't be jerks. Share the tables. Especially on Saturday. I also finally got my Oktoberfest hat that I desperately wanted last year. I regretted not getting it, so I ran there on Thursday and got my hat. It's red. With a feather. And a flag pin. :) And some skillet potatoes (worth the $6 and the 30-45 minute wait in line). And some bratwurst (eh. it's been better). And a potato pancake. Also, I'm broke now. Completely skint. I mean, it's worth it: I went to Oktoberfest twice (Thursday by myself and Saturday with a group), I drank so much fresh lemonade and ate so much delicious food, I might be in a diabetic coma RIGHT NOW. But it's cool. I don't even mind that two bugs flew down my shirt while I was waiting in the line for tickets. All worth it. I will most definitely be back next year, but I'll probably avoid Saturday... simply because I felt that we waited in line more than anything else. Or, I'll go on Thursday night by myself, again, get my fill of the delicious foods with a quarter of the wait time, and then go again with friends on Fri/Sat and wait in line with them. Open aired tent (no a/c), $19 for a turkey leg that didn't even come with potatoes and sauerkraut, and the first band hardly played any German music. No rides either. Not really being one for festivals, I was hesitant about heading over to Addison's Oktoberfest. I was impressed from the get go. Free parking in the business parking garages across the street, free admission on opening night, several activities going on at once, amazing food and even carnival rides. I was there during the "pretzel" obstacle course for agility dogs and it was so fun to watch. There was also a local rescue, Duck Team 6, there raising money with the help of dog lovers. I had the best soft pretzel of my life here, so good in fact, I got another to take home! The streusels are fabulous, the chicken schnitzel is something to crave and you can get your beer in a big pilsner class. The food is pricey, but less than the state fair and tastes way better. Whether its solo, with kids, on a date or just with friends, Addison Oktoberfest allows everyone some fun! read more

Always fun each year. What's not to love about being in the outdoors, drinking beer with your friends, and enjoying some brats? The only things that can be a buzzkill. The crazy long lines for food, tickets, and portapotties. Maybe additional food and ticket stands around the site, and maybe a few of those giant portpotty trailers, those usually get people in and out a helluva lot faster than the individual ones. Plus, those have lighting. Have you tried to pee in a portapotty in the dark. Its disorienting! So we finally figured out how to Oktoberfest! Purchase tickets for the Chamberlin's Brau Haus around $50 a person (This also gets you free entry which is $10 per person). You also get a $25 Chamberlin's gift card per person. Get the earlier tasting on Saturday around 6:00. Print out your tickets! Show up at around 4:30 to get parking in the free garages a few streets over. When you approach the entrance go all the way to the right, they have a shorter line for pre-purchased tickets. Walk around and enjoy the booths! Get to the Chamberlin's hostess stand 15-20 mins before your allotted time. You will get better seats! They give you each 3 beers! (Thats about $21 each if you purchase them outside.) You then get a 3 course meal. But wait there is more! You also get a huge mug to take home. I am not a beer drinker so my husband drank 4 beers at dinner then we put two in the large mug to walk around the other booths. He had a blast! Best Oktoberfest ever! read more

If you have a family come early because after 6 or 7 it's a party. Here are my tips don't drink and drive get a hotel it's like 70-80 bucks it comes with two tickets a beer stein and 10 bucks in tickets. In the long run the Hotel will be like 30-40 bucks better than a DWI. Bring your own stein or buy the biggest one they will fill it the same as a 16-20 oz pour and will cost the same. This event has gotten to big for its own good. I think relocating to a larger venue would bring this event back to its former glory. This year there was just massive crowds, ridiculously long lines, scarce seating, the beer not cold enough and the food subpar. I went 3 times this year; Thursday, Saturday midday and Saturday night. Thursday was free admission and that was the day I expected to be the most overcrowded but it was the least crowded of the 2 days that I went. Don't get me wrong there was still a very large crowd though. Saturday I would avoid all together because there were long lines stretching well across the roundabout to enter the festival and once you're in you are greeted almost immediately by the lines for the coupons. Accounting for the crowd and adjusting for peak hours there was just too many people for this park which it clearly has outgrown. My bf lives in the vicinity and I noticed unearthly hoards of people throughout the weekend. Now to the important stuff, the beer and food. I knew it would be hot so I froze steins in an effort to keep my beer colder for slightly longer. The issue was that upon taking my first sip of the light beer it was not the cool temperature people prefer. My second issue (not to sound like I'm complaining) but the people pouring the beer had no idea what they were doing. My first serving I received more than 1/3 of my stein capped with foam and my second serving was less than the full amount. I got the red velvet funnel cake with cream cheese frosting and powder sugar was so delicious! The carnival area was the only place I found them. The wurst and sour krout were okay. I also got a cinnamon pretzel which was basically a soft pretzel with very little presence of cinnamon. I always enjoy Oktoberfest and that's mostly because of the friends I go with and not necessarily the actual event. The dancing and live music inside the large tent at the back is a great time and the musicians are very talented. I may skip out on Oktoberfest next year but I hope they move it elsewhere so that I don't have to. read more

Have been attending this event for many, many years. It's always so much fun! We typically just stay in a Hotel like the Radisson (across the street) and just walk to the event. Staying at hotel will cost you about 100.00, but it includes room, 2 tix to the event, 2 steins, and 10 coupons to get you started. That's a deal! By not having to worry about driving and traffic allows you to enjoy your beer and just walk 5 mins back to your room. And let me just add that I've never seen a fight or argument here. This festival is crazy I got soooooooo drunk lol. I don't think I've ever been to a festival with so many happy people everyone had a beer and a smile it was great. I didn't get a chance to try all the food I was too bust drinking but I did get the two sausage combo and it was really good. It came with two links potatoes and sourkrout or however you spell it my phones auto correct isn't helping me with it but you get the point I'm still a little hung over from it. They had these monster turkey legs there I didn't get a chance to try them but they did look good. Overall I loved it the only downfall is like any outdoor festival or event it's overpriced. They use the ticket system but it's a dollar per ticket not like the state fair where you at least get 20 tickets for 10 bucks nope you're paying 10 dollars for turkey legs and sausage so be prepared. I forgot to mention the most important thing I'll put it in all caps BRING YOUR OWN CUP NO MATTER THE SIZE THEY WILL FILL IT FOR THE SAME PRICE!!!!! GO BIG PPL GO REAL BIG!!! This is my third year of attending this event, and I'm very pleased with the festival. I purchased a hotel stay through the Addison Oktoberfest website that included a reduced price at the hotel (within walking distance of the event), a free glass mug, and $10 in tickets. A very good deal that allows for some good beer that can be enjoyed responsibly. Plus, no hassles with finding a parking spot or worrying about drunk driving when you can just walk home. One thing different this year was the later opening of the gates. I remember previous years that the gates were opened by the time I got there, but this year I got there before 6 and the gates were still not open. There was quite a line up of people waiting to get in. I think that the event organizers are missing an opportunity here to get people in and enjoying the event earlier. Rain this year did not hamper the event either as the main tent still had room to get people out of the rain. The band and dance floor were a lot of fun, and ease of access to good beer and food inside the tent is a huge plus. The cost of the food is what you expect at any fair or festival, which is much higher than normal, but the quality was good. The more traditional German fares are the better route to go than a hamburger. The pretzels where surprisingly good as well. Overall, I will be going back to this event again and will be looking to stay close by in a hotel. If possible, I'll be using the booking feature through the website to do so. We have been to this every year for many years. As a half-German, I love that my city has an event to celebrate my heritage. I love the food, the German flags, the German events, the dancing, etc. It is very well organized and well planned. The hotels in the area offer discounts for people wanting to stay the night and drink. There is so much to see, buy, and experience. The ONLY downside is the massive hoards of people it attracts now. Over the years it has grown and grown and grown. Saturdays even early in the day it is packed now. I guess if you want to experience it, you just need to go early because at night (which used to be the most fun) it is impossible to get food and seats because it is so crowded. We came at lunchtime on the third day (Sunday). This day was free admission, which in my opinion is the best day since you have to buy tickets for all of your food and drink once inside and an entrance fee on top of that just seems excessive. This festival is very well organized. Ticket booths ($1/ticket) are right near the entrance, and there is a separate line for cash only that goes very quickly. When you enter you're given a "menu" that shows he food available, locations, and ticket prices, so if you're the planning type you can figure out how many tickets you'll need to get through the day ahead of time. Most of the good food was NOT in the main tent, aside from the German chocolate cake which was absolutely delicious. We opted for a jalapeño chicken brat with kraut and some potato pancakes from a vendor outside the main tent, and it was all yummy. I was pretty disappointed in the general beer selection, which seemed to be comprised solely of dark, light, and wheat. There were all kinds of dog shows happening and a ton of vendor booths where you could spend your money or tickets on random junk you probably don't need. For those of us with small humans in tow, there was a decent face painter and lots of rides for little ones (most requiring your kid be at least 34-38 inches tall). My toddler adored the rides. This event is definitely worth checking out. There's something for everyone. read more

What more can I say but WOW! What a great yearly event,held right here in north Texas! I make it a point to attend every year. You can never go wrong with bratwurst and beer. The atmosphere is very family friendly and they offer a wide variety of entertainment. Ok, I wear my lederhosen! Don't judge me! If you have never had the opportunity to attend Oktoberfest in Munich , you shouldn't miss our local version. The location of the festival is in the beautiful Addison circle area, and has plenty of parking. The beer tent is my favorite spot. It has a real German feel with an authentic polka band playing all the German standards. The food options are not as authentic. They seem to be trying, but have missed the mark on authenticity. Don't go with a group of people from Fort Worth, they get confused and intimidated with the construction on 635. Aside from that I had a pretty good time at the Addison Oktoberfest. My personal body count included the brat on a stick, the funnel cake fries with powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle and coconut shavings. A soft pretzel and three Paulaner Hefeweizens.
