Come for the lunch counter not the drug store, which is small and has limited availability. The lunch counter is straight out of 1930's with friendly service and local ambiance. The $3 pimento cheeseburger special was outstanding but order a double as it is fairly small (lettuce, tomato, etc extra). Strawberry shake was average - like something you would get at a fast food place - but the oreo shake was above average. read more

An Athens staple! This convenience store, mixed with a pharmacy, mixed with a post office, mixed with a lunch spot, is a great experience. Breakfast & lunch is served until 4 pm. The staff is incredibly friendly. For COVID, masks are required in the store but dine-in is open. One employee was sanitizing each appliance frequently. We got one oreo milkshake, one chocolate milkshake, and one "frots" (fries + tots). I loved the oreo milkshake, definitely my favorite. And only for $2.95! The fries are crinkle cut and cooked in front of us, definitely better than the tots in my opinion. Loved this place and want to go back for breakfast! read more

As others have said this place is great. This is a throwback to the old counter service growing up. The staff is friendly, the food good, and the prices inexpensive. The day we had lunch there were young kids to the more seasoned citizen sitting at the counter. We ordered a cheeseburger and a double cheeseburger. My wife wished she would have gotten the double also. I ordered the fries and she ordered the onion rings. The fries were particularly good because they were crinkle cut fried perfectly. The sweet tea was on point. We really glad we remembered this place and had the opportunity to eat a great lunch. Can't wait to try other items on the menu. read more

You can't tell it from the exterior -- as is usually the case -- but this pharmacy is actually a time machine. The space-time continuum becomes unexpectedly flexible as you walk in the front door. Right past the cash register and to the left of puzzles and toys is an old fashioned diner, replete with a milk machine, metal stools, deep fryers, and signed memorabilia. I had a wonderful lunch here last week, consisting of a pimento cheese burger, a regular cheeseburger, fries, a coke, and a chocolate milkshake. The other diners, average age 6, seemed to approve of my selections. The pimento cheese burger was gooey and wonderful [and rang in at under $2.00!]. The chocolate milkshake was thick and bordering on a little too sweet, but as a dessert, was perfect. Service was friendly and familiar, with patrons greeting the server/cook/milkshake maker by first name. ADD Drugs is an institution and a wonder. There's nothing like underage regulars sliding up to the counter and ordering snacks and drinks with their allowance to snap you out of your annoying postmodern apathy. I really could have tried quite a few things because the prices were so reasonable! Well...after settling down my inner foodie, I decided to go with 2 hot dogs cooked well with chili, mustard and onions and an order of french fries. Y'ALL....in my most Southern foodie voice, those hot dogs were SO freaking good! They were beef, full and abundantly beef. The chili was not home made but it was ADD Drug Store griddle good! The onions were just the right amount of musty. I know that is weird but a true hot dog connoisseur understands what I mean. I remember reading the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Clearly growing up and she always talked about this burger place she loved to go to that had french fries that were "crisp on the outside and mealy on the inside"....THESE are those fries! On the road with all of the other restaurants in walking distance to the football stadium at UGA, this jewel was a special find. I had a double cheese burger with bacon and onion rings with a drink, all under $5. The counter is a cozy spot on the left wall about mid way of the store. The place is rather popular so a seat or two may be a few minutes. While you wait you can shop around the drug store which has everything you may need while traveling. You definitely will not wait long so dont go far. Once you have a seat the ladies working the counter will get your order with a BIG smile on their face and in their voice, what a welcome attitude! VERY cheap lunch spot that's straight out of the past. It's a single counter diner located in the drug store that open until approx 5pm most days. I had the pimento grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and a cheese burger with tomato and lettuce, french fries and a milkshake. The whole meal was under $10. It's got a parking lot right in front so it was super easy to park and pick up a quick lunch on the go. I was seriously shocked at how low the prices were - I mean they must not have changed that price board in decades. There were two very sweet women working when I went - the service was very prompt and my food came quickly. All that being said, I def think it was a must-visit for the unique-ness factor, but the food wasn't spectacular/special. If you order a cola they can add cherry flavor to it. Also this is where I go instead of a post office. I've been to heaven, and it tastes like a grilled pimento cheese sandwich from ADD Drug. At ADD Drug, they take their ooey, gooey homemade pimento cheese and generously spread it between two slices of grocery-store brand wheat sandwich bread. Then they slather the outside with butter, and finally the magic happens when it hits the grill. Even if you don't like pimento cheese, I guarantee you will like this sandwich. Apparently this place really fills up during lunch time, so I wholeheartedly recommend it for a late afternoon snack, or just a simple milkshake break. And oh that milkshake. It knocks the Grill's version out of the water. They hand scoop them and make them right in front of you. The best part of the whole experience? The bill. I love the ability to drop off my packages here at the USPS counter. ADD Drug stays open a lot later than the Post Office! Plus, I met the store owner's wife the other night (she's fabulous!) while buying an Uga statue (Uga is the mascot for the University of Georgia, for those of you who aren't from around here). My parents get their precriptions filled here and I've been a regular at the counter since I was 5 years old. My friend and I would walk down here, plop down on a stool and have a burger, fries and chocolate milk shake..for $5. I like to pretend that they staged sit ins here back in the 60's. Great lunch spot. Very very cheap, and very delicious. I had the pimento cheeseburger, which was fantastic. The toasted warm buns definitely add to the deliciousness. The french fries were freezer stock fries, but they fried them up so they were good. Sweet tea was fantastic. Atmosphere is exactly what it says...a drug store. Except that it is a drug store that remains in the 1970s. Very quaint and enjoyable, especially with all the nic-nacs around. Service is also very very nice and friendly. This is ADD Drug Store. Don't let the name trick you. This is a very unique place with an old set up. In this store, you will find a post office, a pharmacy, and other drug store items. When we entered, we were greeted by April, our waitress. We ordered the pimiento cheese grilled sandwich. we didn't had pimiento grill cheese before so she gave us a sample to try before we ordered it and told us exactly how the cheese was made. It is made by them. My son enjoyed the cheese very much and without asking she gave my son more cheese with crackers to enjoy. We also ordered crispy onion rings. The onion rings that were cooked were very crispy and delicious. They were the best onion rings I ever had. We ordered a strawberry milkshake as well. The milkshake was very smooth and made right in front of. All in all this is a great B&L place. I would recommend it to everybody as the service is extraordinary, the food is wonderful, and the set up is unique. read more

Wow, great place to go, we just had a chocolate milkshake and it was $2.95..the menu like others have said is really inexpensive, like 2.00 for a cheeseburger, great counter space to meet new people and nice employees! ADD Drug is my favorite lunch spot in Athens. Hidden next to Earthfare in Five Points this place features a lunch counter. The food is delicious and the ladies who work there are very friendly. The price can't be beat with lunch costing between $3 and $6. They have delicious grilled cheese, burgers, hot dogs, BLT's and pimento cheese sandwiches. They use crushed ice for their drinks and their milkshakes are much cheaper and better than the Grill's. It seems that every time I bring friends here the Fyer is broken though, so sometimes you can't get french fries or their delicious fried chicken sandwich. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they have a limited number of seats and it tends to fill up at lunch time during the week. I would either reccomend coming after 1PM or be prepared to wait, but you can browse around the drug store. read more
