My husband and I rented e-bikes from Adam Solar Rides to ride the GAP/C&O Canal. The Bulls Iconic Evo 750's were perfect for the trail. The bikes' tires, suspension, and frame provided a comfortable ride on the gravel and occasionally muddy surface. The Bosch 750 batteries had plenty of power and range for our needs. Since we traveled to Pittsburgh from out of the area, Adam provided a lot of helpful advice for planning the trip. Adam's enthusiasm and knowledge of local cycling is obvious in every interaction. We especially appreciated his suggestion that we extend the bike rentals extra days for a very fair price for our post-ride visit to DC. Adam is definitely a "Can-do" guy that is very accommodating and so easy to work with! He set us up with an Ollie and Bull e bikes with panniers, rain covers, tools, etc. - all that we needed for our 8 day trip on the C&O canal and Allegheny Gap. Adam is awesome. I needed a step thru ebike, and his Gazelles were just the smoothest ride ever. He includes everything you'll need in the event of a flat tire. As well as panniers. He guided us to the start, and took photos. At the finish 5 days later he met our shuttle bus with a smile and lots of help to get our things sorted out. He's always smiling, and takes care of the details. Great sole propeieter business. Working hard to make the experience excellent for his customers. read more

Highly recommend this folks! My wife and I rented two e-bikes for our trip to Washington DC via the GAP/C+O Canal trails (350+ over 7 days). Ever aspect of dealing with Adam and his staff was easy, convenient, and professional. Adam rented us two delightful bikes (Gazelle and Bulls) that held up to the rigors of the trails (dirt, puddles, etc.) and went the distance (no "range anxiety"). At the end of the ride, Adam picked up the bikes in Washington DC, making the whole experience very convenient. Would rent from ASR again - whether for getting around Pittsburgh or going off on a long-range adventure. Can't recommend these folks highly enough! read more

Without a doubt, Adam runs the smoothest, most helpful, most considerate, handiest bike store ever! Need I say more? We came from Colorado to Pittsburgh to meet up with a GAP tour and wanted to rent e- bikes. I checked several stores, and they weren't quite as well- stocked as Solar Rides. Adam was willing to go to the ends of the earth to find us the perfect e-bikes that fit our needs. When it came time for him to deliver our bikes to the hotel, he was a bit late due to a street art show in town, so he forgave our delivery fee! The bikes seemed brand new and were in tip top shape for a week's ride. No problems with the bikes! Pickup back at the hotel was timely and swift! Value for the quality of bike (Gazelles) we received is on target! Adam even included a bike bag, a helmet, a lock, a spare inner tube, a handy repair tool, and a water bottle! Adams dolor rides is a bit of a tricky place, it sits on a back road and hidden in a building that can be easily passed and forgotten about. I had the gps handy and seen the tent set up out front. I came here for demo day to check out the hype about all the electric bikes. On walking in the store me and a friend where greeted. Super small and I mean small shopping area. There's not many bikes to choose from so I can't really say there's something for everyone. There was two skateboard and a few accessories but nothing crazy or anything to blow your mind. The shop where they do everything is huge tho, Adam took us in there for a quick tour and to see the skateboards and that was pretty sick. Then onto outside the actual guy who set up his van and test gear was pretty chill. There wasn't really a big selection of bikes at all. A few full suspension bikes, one road bike that was not running plus it was super small. A few comfort bikes maybe overall around 7 bikes out to test. The whole concept was awesome and being able to go up a hill at almost 20mph was so cool. But not having a wide selection of test bikes and sizes for everyone just jumping in to buy a bike doesn't seem worth it. I wanna actually test demo bikes on the trail and that would convince to buy one cause I'm still on the fence after how choppy both bikes shifting was. Another few things to mention is Adam did take us for a ride in the Tesla and that was insane and so awesome. There was free drinks to help your self with as listed on the flyer but no snacks or food that I've seen. And I guess the downtown location is going to be closing soon due to a issue with the building. Overall this place is pretty cool and it's been here awhile so clearly something is being done right. Also Adam and the other guy can't remember his name was super funny and good conversation. This whole event seemed like it was just thrown together last minute from what I understand so It turned out more of a hit than a miss. Would I ever return here? I doubt it with the group tours closing down I don't have a reason to. But if any other events or demos pop up I'll definitely show up. A solid 4 star establishment in my eyes based off my experience at this demo. read more

What a great place to test drive an electric bike or scooter, or shop for solar panels! If you're in the market for any of these, this is the place to be. Adam is very friendly and knowledgeable about electric bikes -- and solar panels (maybe get some to charge your bike!). There are many different models in stock to try out, as well as hover boards, scooters, and golf boards. While you shop, you can even charge your electric car outside -- free of charge. On special event days (see website), you may even come across food or other treats -- today we had some delicious ice cream from a nearby farm. There are also bikes for hauling your kids around with you, or taking your doggie or other gear along for the ride. Check it out! read more
