If anyone is apprehensive about travelling far for their wig, I would say don't be with Diane!…read more I have visited several wig consultants in the past with never being fully pleased with the outcomes, perhaps I'm a bit fussy but I now look forward to my journey from Norwich way to Cambridge for my regular hair cuts and wig fits. Diane is extremely thorough with her consultation I remember and each visit is a friendly outing which makes me feel confident and refreshed!

Well worth a visit! Was welcomed into the salon by two very friendly and well-presented staff…read more(unlike many I've seen in Cambridge with just jeans and a t-shirt), had a very theraputic indian head massage, which wasn't rushed! The experience was lovely with a refreshments in china tea set with fruit and biscuits, they treated their clients exceptionally well and was cared for consistently (not rushed out the door either)! After going through all my colour choices and different options I could have, I felt reassured I was in safe hands and was always asked questions and given advice before going ahead with anything, although the phone kept ringing often, I did have to wait a while before the lady ressumed to my hair, I can't complain! My afternoon was pleasant both for the experience and result! Before I left I bought some Moroccan oil shampoo and treatment oil which is out of this world and definitely will be returning for some more! 5 stars, no question about it!

The good is the young lady that did my hair is good, seems hardworking and skilled. What took away…read morefrom this experience is the receptionist seemed to not really be interested in me, only on regular customers so this was a bit off putting. End the day I was also paying for the service and experience but hey ho. Another negative is they only offer cuts for certain hair types, I had asked for my daughter who has tight coils and they couldn't offer a service or suggestions. In this day and age would think they would offer a service for more diverse population. Sadly not!

When you have a bad haircut, life is a daily struggle. You have to wake up every day and fool with…read moreit until it looks tolerable to you. When you have a good haircut, it's one less thing. The moral here is: a good haircut is always worth it, not only because it makes you look better, but because it can take 15 - 20 minutes off your morning routine. And that is just worth it. 15 - 20 minutes of extra sleep? Sign me up. I hadn't had my hair cut since coming to the UK from the States for grad school, so when I realized I could no longer just ignore my hair situation, I yelped and found Scruff's. Good reviews, I thought, and a handy pricing system: slightly less experienced (but still very well trained) stylists will wash, condition, massage, cut and blowdry your hair for a very reasonable 30 pounds. This pricing level is the 'graduate' level because the stylists are more recent graduates of Scruff's training program, though it subtly appeals to Cambridge's glut of graduates who are a bit short on funds, too. Not knowing anybody at the salon, I asked for first available, and got Abi. A quick rundown: before the scissors came out, she sat down and talked with me about what I wanted. She was always extremely helpful and clear about options, from the shampoo and conditioner she used to the cut itself to the blowdried style. She was very, very communicative and friendly. In fact, the whole staff was quite friendly. You won't be dehydrated at Scruff's, nor will you deal with the unwieldy burden of your coat and scarf. Scruff's is nicely decorated (I was so happy not to be in the weird yogic decor idiom so often seen in US salons) and extremely clean. Even at 10 am on a Thursday, the place was hopping, and most of the clientele seemed to have a very good, friendly rapport with the stylists. I'm guessing they have a lot of regulars, which is always a good sign. On that note: call and schedule an appointment; walk-ins are probably a no-go. It's a paradox in life that there's often less to say about excellence than failure, so I'll be brief: Abi gave me a very, very good haircut. I've had my hair some 23 years, and some cuts have been good, and others have been bad. This one was among the very best. Do give Scruff's a try. I'll be heading back.

I visited this salon to get a simple cut…read more When I inquired as to whether certain things I was interested in would cost extra, a gentleman who I believe is the manager sarcastically quipped "You want a haircut, yes?". Well, yes! I was not directed to where I needed to sit to wait or where I could put my coat. The managers general attitude was surly and unprofessional, at this time and also when I went to pay. However, I did not have to wait long and was given a friendly and polite stylist, who completed my cut within a reasonable length of time. She actually listened to what I wanted, and also did not continue to chatter away through the parts that obviously required some concentration (a pet peeve of mine). I was happy with my cut, and feel many stylists could learn a lot from her manner. So why the one star? When my cut was complete, the stylist told me she was new, and needed a superior to approve the haircut. She called a lady over. Without offering so much as a simple "hello" to me, this lady silently picked up some scissors and started snipping into my hair! She did not explain what she was doing or why. My stylist tried to protest, as she and I had agreed I did not want much layering as I have thick hair, and this make it stick out. This lady finished what she was doing and just walked away. My stylist apologised profusely. At this point I think I was shocked and just wanted to get out, so I simply paid up and left. Later on in the day I sent an email complaint regarding my experience. I did not receive anything back except a poorly worded email a few days later informing me the silent lady "would be spoken to". No follow up, no compensation. I sincerely hope my stylist ends up in a different salon as she deserves better. So, in conclusion, you get what you pay for.

He followed me out side and again abused me verbally in a very intimidating way. I am still shocked to the core and shaking from this terrible experience and advise any one who cares about their hair or more to the point their personal safety to give this place a wide birth. For a manager to react in the most inappropriate way for the sake of a ten pound hair cut is beyond belief.Be warned.
