Adam and Don helped me out of a bind. A stranger ran into my friend's garage and bent struts on two panels. As a handyman, I thought it would be a simple trip to HD or Lowes for 16ft replacement struts. They are unavailable publicly everywhere in SoCal. Went through basically all of Orange County's garage services and found only a few that were willing to sell and most at an egregious amount. The short version: I would highly recommend these guys for your garage door repair. Their Great pricing, Terrific guys, and Good work should have you GTG in no time. The long version: As a lot of home repair jobs go, you never plan them until you need them done, and typically not until you need them done ASAP. When something breaks like a water pipe or other basic utility you are quickly reminded of the awesome benefits we all enjoy living in a 1st world nation. That said, I never thought I would add garage door to my list of basic utilities. As it turns out, if you are one of those people who actually park inside your garage, your garage door is pretty much the gate keeper to your outside world, and if it breaks you are screwed. So Thursday morning I get ready to head out of the house and, uh oh, the garage door only opens 2 feet. While I've had the door not work due to a circuit breaker being tripped, but I'd never had it sorta work but not all the way. Getting out the step ladder and looking into things more closely I noticed that one of the tension springs looked different than the other and apparently had snapped. With a bit of fiddling and added man power I was finally able to open the door, but really, I needed a permanent fix and I needed it quick. I hit up about 5 different garage door repair places for quotes and to see if they could do same day repair. While a couple mentioned they could come same day, Adam's pricing and over the phone customer service easily won my bid. Adam not only offered the lower price, but he also offered a cash discount. I hung up the phone with Adam around 1:30PM, text messaged my home and email address to him, got a text back from someone saying I had the wrong number, figured out where I had incorrectly typo'd the number, and was getting ready to resend it when Adam called back concerned about not receiving the address. We got the squared away, and he confirmed his partner Don would be by in a few hours. Don showed up around 5:00 coming off of a couple of other repair jobs in the area, and unfortunately did not have the correct replacement springs as the one's he had expected to use had been needed on an earlier job. Don was very pleasant to deal with and he performed some minor maintenance such as greasing the joints and bearings and adjusting the retractor motor power so that the door would functioned as best as it could with only one spring and promised to be back the first thing the following morning. Don called 10 minutes before arriving the following morning, and was even slightly ahead of schedule which worked out great as I needed to get to work as. He replaced both springs in under 30 minutes, and my garage door is now working better and much quieter than it had even been. He also let me know that Home Depot or most other similar type stores carried light bulbs specifically made for garage doors which were better able to handle the vibrations that tend to burn out standard bulbs much quicker. I have not had a chance to do that yet, but will check it out next time I'm at HD. My only recommendations for Garage Doors by Adam, would be to improve the paperwork and agreement process. When first speaking with Adam by phone he asked if I could text msg my Home and Email address so that he could know the location as well as email me the invoice. This was fine by me, however when Don showed up and did not have the correct springs on hand, Don asked for a simple $20 deposit (which makes sense), but he was unable to provide any it form of receipt other than a business card. I felt that both Adam and Don were good people, but sadly we no longer exist in an age were all good sounding people keep their word, and it would have made all sides more comfortable to have had some form of document to formalize the deposit. Don was very understanding of this and quickly offered to waive the deposit (of course he knew where I lived though :P). The following morning after the work was done, there was also no paperwork to formal sign off on work completed, or for the warranty/guarantee of parts/labor. I was very satisfied with the work and with the nature of the guys I had dealt with, but still I would have preferred to have had some more formal onsite type of signoff/acknowledgement of service. I did text Adam at 8:45 after the job was done, and received an official nvoice by email within an hour. So while communication was easy, pricing very competitive, work well done, and people pleasant to deal with, the documentation side of the agreement, deposit, payment, and work signoff could use some improvements and really boost the professionalism of the company. I wish I could have gotten the same service as everyone else here claims they got from this company. I found this company on Craigslist (which he's blasted his ads all over). I called him and left a message for him, albeit after hours (around 7 pm). I expected a phone call from him the next day. The next day around 1 pm, I get a text from him asking for the address. He said he would be there between 4-6 pm. Then around 5 pm, we get a call that he's stuck at a job and wants to reschedule for the next day. Our garage door is stuck in the middle and we can't bring it down, so the whole house is exposed! I asked him why he can't make it, and he replies that he'll make it between 6-8 pm. Then again at around 6 pm, I get another call that he'll be there late tonight or tomorrow. I'm sure he was tired from a hard day's work, but I just wish he would have told us early in the day "Hey I'm sorry, but I'm booked today. I can either come out tomorrow or you're probably better off calling someone else." I would have had much more respect for him that way. Now (at 6 pm) I have to start looking for someone else while we were stuck in the house the whole day waiting for this guy to call and show up. Just not professional. read more
