I recently booked Kay for a round trip to and from Atlanta airport on an upcoming date. As he and I talked, I realized I had failed to write a review regarding our first experience with Acworth Towne Executive Limousine just over a year ago. My wife and I had spent two and one-half weeks touring and cruising Alaska, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle before flying to New Orleans to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We honeymooned in New Orleans in 1978.
On our last day in Washington State at the last stop of a land tour of Olympia Park, my wife twisted her knee and could hardly walk. Our travel agent and Alaska Airlines made arrangements for us to continue the New Orleans leg of our trip. The day of our New Orleans departure, we arrived at the airport early. Then the weather turned bad, not only in New Orleans but also in Atlanta AND New York. We finally took off at 9:15 PM (10:15 PM Atlanta time). Our original schedule was to arrive in Atlanta between 6:00-7:00 PM. I had called ahead and made arrangements with our airline to provide plane-to-curb wheelchair assistance in Atlanta. When we arrived in Atlanta, we sat on the ground 45 minutes waiting on a gate to open so we could disembark. When we got off the plane, there was a wheelchair but NO PERSON! My wife hopped in, she held some of our carry-ons while I put one over my shoulder and pushed her up the ramp and through the terminal which was a madhouse with all the delayed flights and people running to make connections. We could find escalators down to baggage, but not an elevator. I interrupted the conversation of a couple of store workers and asked. They directed me around a corner towards International Baggage to an obscure elevator. It was occupied by stewardesses who made room for us and who commented on the "sh _ _ _ _ night." They pointed us to the train and we made our way to Domestic Baggage. The entire time I was wondering how I would get my girl, this wheelchair, our carry-ons, and the two additional checked bags down an elevator to where we were meeting Kay. With this 7-8 hour delay, I wondered if Kay would even be there.
When we walked into baggage claim and towards our turnstile, Kay was THERE!!!!!!! He took care of my wife and carry-ons while I grabbed the two checked bags. Thank God I had booked a limo service rather than depended on Uber as the entire pickup area was covered with others trying to get away after all the backlog due to the weather! I'm sure Uber, cabs, etc. were overwhelmed.
Upon diagnosis, my wife had to have knee surgery. read more
