No physical pain to speak of, but my brain was foggy, it was hard to concentrate. I was also feeling anxious and particularly irritable... just feeling run down. Dr. Chen was gracious enough to accommodate me at the last minute. After a few minutes and some intake questions, she laid me on the table and started the treatment. I have a phobia of needles but overall it was generally painless (although I did feel a few tiny pricks here and there when she was applying the needles to my feet.) About 45 minutes later she removed the needles and the nodes that she had applied to the various parts of my body and used some kind of liniment and gua sha tool to loosen the abundant tension in my shoulders. That part was a little uncomfortable... The same way that getting a deep tissue massage might be uncomfortable. When I left I felt... Lighter. A few days later I was able to accomplish some difficult things that I had been struggling with.... That I had not been able to focus on or direct the proper attention to. Can I attribute it directly to acupuncture? I don't know. But I'd like to believe that the treatment definitely helped in I'm blocking and balancing my chi. That said, I definitely plan to return for follow-up appointments in the future. Thanks Dr. Chen.

Fine technique, but---- I'd like her for no other reason that---she agrees with me: acupuncture is greatly under-used. Acupuncture should be taking the country by storm. Acupuncture works. No MRI's or x-ray exposure, no pills, and no high prices, no toxic overload. Users of acupuncture can make a difference by spreading the word, tell family and co-workers of our successes with acupuncture. We need to lobby Congress to get acupuncture covered under Medicare. If your hospitalization plan doesn't cover acupuncture, nag them. Parents whose child is prescribed medication for behavior, should try acupuncture first. People with anxiety or fatigue or drug dependence would be helped with acupuncture....with the added plus that you'd know right away. Acupuncture instead of a face-lift, it tightens the skin, and is thousands of dollars cheaper. Not my condition at all, but here is a link that suggests that those with diabetes could well try acupuncture. The cost of the medication alone would suggest using acupuncture instead of expensive drugs. But---it's the buildup in the body, that I'd worry about. Acupuncture does not carry toxic buildup risk. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319618.php Acupuncture assists the body to get back on track. The body heals itself. Ever heard a doctor or pharmacist say that? We who have been helped by acupuncture need to spread the word. Finding the skilled Dr. Chen in her nicely appointed elevator building office, has been a delight.

Unfortunately, the quality of service has declined, and it now feels as though anyone regardless of training or skill level is allowed to provide massages. Today, I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment but wasn't seen until 15 minutes after my scheduled time. I ended up leaving the treatment room just 12 minutes into the session. The service was completely unskilled: rushed, inconsistent, lacking rhythm, and missing the foundational techniques that define a competent, professional massage therapist. A skilled therapist uses intentional pressure, consistent/proper flow, and an understanding of muscle anatomy to create a therapeutic and cohesive experience none of which were present. Realizing the session was doing more harm than good, I made the decision to end it and leave. The front desk staff clearly knew something had gone wrong, as my early departure was obviously due to dissatisfaction. Yet I was still charged $139. Not only is that unreasonable, but deeply unprofessional. When I called for clarification, I was met with a scripted cancellation-policy explanation given by the same employee who witnessed me ending the service early and leaving the studio upset. Only after pressing for details was I told I'd need to speak with a manager. The entire interaction was dismissive, confusing, and frankly, insulting. This visit brought frustration instead of the relaxation this business is supposed to offer. And for anyone who believes the service I received, particularly from Pam, is acceptable, I can assure you they have not experienced a true massage from a trained, skilled professional.

My lower back has been my Achilles Heal for over 25 years & aside from all the proactive measures I take, Acupuncture has quietly stayed in the back of my head. I've participated in Physical Therapy, Acupressure, Reflexology, Yoga, Swimming & such...only a temporary relief while in motion. My initial visit was such an enlightening & liberating experience for me & my multi ailments. Marie not only exudes a qualified, calming & gifted approach with her seasoned techniques, she will school you from A-Z concisely yet expeditiously in this amazing component of traditional Chinese medicine. Her healing perspective in conjunction with this form of alternative medicine was a internal blowing of my mind, body & spirit. The thin needles were darn near touch-less & barely noticeable as she studied the numerous acupuncture points before inserting them into my specific body parts. For me, I walked away with less discomfort from the chronic aspect & it became more evident/effective later in the day & evening. Per design, everyone's make up is unique...as for me, this was better accommodating & cost efficient to the standard care & reiteration of "you should have back surgery" - NEGATIVE. Marie's extensive training & methodical/chakra familiarity approach enhanced my sense of wellbeing 10 fold. It also awaken the yearning I have for my vitality to evolve through this inner cultivation of holistic learning & treatment-POSITIVE. Crossings is absolutely "A Center For Healing".

From seeing acupuncture on TV, I was expecting to have like 50 pins put in my back and then left to sleep. A typical experience is maybe 8-10 different pins, some in and out points, some that are left to sit for awhile. Tessler is great to talk to and she stays with her clients the whole session. Each treatment is tailored to what I'm dealing with that week, so each time it's a little different. She doesn't like to leave her clients in that zombie, groggy feeling (I always feel this way after massages), and I appreciate that I always leave feeling more relaxed but I can still do things after treatment. Tessler's Dupont location is super convenient to my office and she has evening and Saturday hours. She only sees one patient at a time, and the office is small but cozy. Best of all, she takes insurance. If you are thinking about trying out acupuncture and want a very personalized approach, Tessler is awesome.

I went 2x/week for 4 months for acupuncture and herbal tea supplement (which I drank twice a day…read morereligiously), all as recommended due to my build up of stress and wanting to get off of anti-depressants. We identified I had a yin deficiency, which I have heard from other practitioners before. I was told I have inflammation from the "heat" from the yin deficiency. All made sense to me. There was no type of improvement that I could see. I was uncomfortable during the acupuncture and was barely relaxed. I've seen other practitioners and did not have this kind of experience. I really wanted to like this practice so it was disappointing. I wanted to commit to doing it for a year, but I just couldn't hold out because I was actively suffering through the acupuncture. (And I'm a fan of it!) What really got me was that Dr. Hou would see me every week and say the exact same things for 4 months. "Tongue getting better." Or "Toenails are still dark red (low oxygen) but getting better." This on repeat for 4 months. There was no visible or internal improvement on my end. I committed completely and took her suggestions. I tried to tell her my concerns, but she had no answers for me. Just that it will take a long time and that my "cells need to grow." If I had a dime for every time I was told my "cells need to grow," here I would be rich. I understand TCM and have no issue with waiting, but the constant "you're getting better" was suspicious. I had a bad feeling about it. I was basically told to wait a year to see improvement, but the repetition felt very "snake oil salesman" to me. Not to mention, the place seems like it hasn't been deep cleaned in a very long time. The tables are uncomfortable. The prices are decent, so if you want to give it a try and see if your issues resolve unlike mine, give it a shot! I saw a lot of great reviews so I really wanted to give it a solid try. But I need to get a second opinion after this experience. I was sketched out and had to trust my gut.
