As an adult, I just had my braces removed last week and extremely happy with the result. I highly recommend Dr Santoro, she is greatly knowledgeable, sets the proper expectations and will provide the best patient care. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes at an appointment and they get back to you very quickly when setting up/changing appointments. The Acton Orthodontics practice (led by Dr. Santoro) has a website (http://www.actonorthodonticassociates.com/) suggesting that there are no office hours because services are provided by appointment to ensure "a pleasant experience and timely treatment." Our experiences for the past three years are as follows: a) office hours outside school hours are very limited b) flexibility for scheduling appointments is lacking; for example, to remove braces, we are obligated to an 8-9 am or 12-1 pm weekday appointment outside February vacation week and then return before 5 pm that same day to get the retainer. There is a lack of appreciation for the sacrifice required from a high school student to miss two classes and the inconvenience posed to a working parent to meet the obligation. c) wait times for Friday afternoon appointments ranges between 20 - 60 minutes (There is a sign in the waiting room that says 'gentleness not speed' is valued.) I have seen a patient walk out after 90 minutes of waiting because the patient was going to miss his hockey game. d) professionalism could be better. Parent consults with Dr. Santoro occur in her work area where all the patient activity takes place (not in a private office). As such, the entire conversation reverberates down the short hallway and into the waiting room. Those conversations are adversarial because Dr. Santoro has an antagonistic communication style. For example, a dad had insurance issues and her response in a raised voice was '...we are not a charity. How are we supposed to know about the insurance change? If you don't tell us, we don't know...' I, personally, have had two or three conversations with her where I felt threatened or mischaracterizing my concerns. For these reasons and more, I do not recommend this practice. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Santoro for a few years, about five years ago when I had braces. Recently, I went to another practice to get opinions on whether or not I would need jaw surgery. They were incredibly pushy, trying to start the process that day. Upon revisiting Dr. Santoro, she immediately saw that my jaw had not even stopped growing, and explained the surgery, before, during, and after, as well as all of the risks the other one glossed over. Poor communication. Will not bill your insurance unless you are an "established patient" which involves the client paying for initial services out of pocket. They do not communicate this until you are in the chair about to have procedure done. Unprofessional: Continued asking my child if she was sure she didn't want the procedure after I had said we could not afford to pay cash for it. Tried using scare tactics on us that something terrible will happen to her teeth if they don't make her a custom retainer. Will not bring my family back here. read more

Dr. Santoro and her staff are caring, compassionate and patient centered in their practice of orthodontics. Dr. Santoro was refreshingly honest and realistic in her evaluation of my teeth crowding issue (I am an adult who wore braces as a teenager) and developed a plan using the latest research and her own personal knowledge of the treatment options. Where many practicioners may have pushed me towards Invisalign (more money for them), she recommended that I will have better results and spend less money going the traditional wire and brackets route. The new toothcolored components make them very unobtrusive and fairly invisible to most people. The care taken by the staff at each of my appts. has matched that of Dr. Santoro. Finally, may I say to the mother who was in the office yesterday with her daughter for an emergency (new braces causing daughter discomfort), I don't know what you were thinking, treating the staff and Dr. Santoro with such disdain and rudeness...they were being very kind and accommodating to you and your daughter..I don't know how they were able to maintain their composure when you started accusing them of giving you an "attitude". Take a look in the mirror, get a grip and set a better example for your daughter. There is far too much anger and disrespect in the world, we can choose to respond with positive energy or continue to perpetuate the negative. read more

Dr. Santoro bought e business from Dr. Berko and is not continuing to provide the level of service Dr Berko worked so hard to establish. The office staff and techs have left and all that is left is a very disorganized practice. Dr Santoro insisted that my oldest have a permanent retainer removed and chastised her for not wearing her retainer (she wears it every night). When we came into have it removed, Dr Santoro had no record of her decision and said that she would never remove it until the wisdom teeth were out. Sharlene, the receptionist, was always apologetic for the many, many mistakes made by Dr. Santoro, but she too has left. We have no choice but to continue with the practice as we are all paid up with our older two, but we opted to have our youngest see Dr. Supplies who is community minded, organized, and pleasant. My recommendation is to avoid Acton Orthodontic completely. read more

This is an excellent office. I brought my daughter here after her dentist recommended Dr. Santoro. We had just changed insurances and were not sure about coverage but the manager was very nice and helpful and got us covered. We did not feel any pressure to start treatment here, and they gave us time to think about it before starting radiographs or molds or any payments. The doctor informed us of all possible solutions before we took a decision. A very nice and refreshing environment, strongly recommended. read more

Our son has been going to Dr. Santoro for 2 or 3 years now, and she has been treating his growing underbite with a palate expander. She has been very complimentary of our son for consistently wearing his retainer and recently spent considerable time describing the next step alternatives--even providing us with detailed images to ensure we completely understood everything. Whenever we have had any issues, like when our son broke his retainer in half, both Dr. Santoro and her staff have been amazingly responsive and got his replacement retainer made faster than any of us imagined was possible. Everyone in the office is pleasant, and our younger kids love the toys and movies while their brother completes his check-ups, which makes my life easier. I am a former patient of Dr. Berko, from whom Dr. Santoro bought the practice, and now drive a considerable distance because we are so happy with our experience. Dr. Santoro is incredibly knowledgeable, trustworthy, and deserves our highest recommendation after the five-star service we have received! read more
