Greasy, unscrupulous management. Was not told in advance that I'd have to paint the entire space myself upon leaving. Threats to charge me above and beyond and in perpetuity if I didnt. I originally agreed to rent the space for six months but left after three weeks due to fussy and arbitrary rules that made it impossible to use as a photo studio (Im a photographer and cant have light coming in, but Im not allowed to cover the windows). When I moved in, there were spiderwebs and dead bugs everywhere and now Im being told that I need to clean them up, paint the entire place, and so on in order to get my deposit back and not accrue additional fees. Considering that the space was literally used to store my stuff for three weeks since I couldnt actually work in there, I find it hard to believe that theres a laundry list of issues that now need to be remedied to avoid charges. Avoid this place. read more

I was here for a few years, we barely used the facility, overall we were ideal tenants. They had some really shady ways of screwing us out of our $500 security deposit though... When we originally rented the garage style unit it was unpainted, the manager said if we would accept it unpainted (it was just bare sheetrock) then when we left we wouldn't need to paint it. They raised the rent like clockwork, but that's fine, it's business after all. After over 3 years we decided to leave since we were barely there. Before doing so we double checked with the manager on the paint situation. Two different managers told us not to worry about it, there would be no charge. Then a month later we received a bill for $550! (It somehow cost $550 to paint a tiny 8x14 room?!?) Well they kept our security deposit. I reached out to the management office about the situation and they replied with a surprisingly hostile letter basically saying screw off and don't try taking legal action. They headache wasn't worth the $500 so I guess they won, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I have to say that I'm surprised by some of the reviews here. This is actually my second time renting a space here (briefly moved out of town, but came back without hesitation because I loved it so much) and the experience has been fantastic! The Activspace community is friendly and supportive and Kat, the manager goes above and beyond to support her tenants. She is friendly and professional and always willing to take extra time to lend a hand or answer questions. Love this place!!! read more

I (finally) broke down and created a yelp account exclusively and specifically so I could write this review, because the team (on site management and owners) helped me through a very difficult moment by being creative and kind. I've rented several spaces here over the last 15 years, and the physical facility has always been great. Clean, dry, well lit, friendly staff available when they say they will be, and often after hours as well. On the rare instances when I've interacted with other tenants, they have always been friendly too. I've never even had issues with parking (though right turns exiting the parking lot during busy hours should be avoided, which is really the ONLY criticism I have of the facility). But I'm writing mostly to praise the people, not the facility, nice as it is. I won't get into the details, but I had a severe financial crisis recently (entirely of my own making, and certainly not through any fault of the team at ActivSpace), and the team worked to find creative ways to assist me, helping me avoid late fees or having to move out abruptly. I let the manager know about my problems, not expecting any assistance, but because I expected the worst, and it's always better to plan for a disaster, and understand the likely consequences. I fully expected polite sympathy, but nothing else in the way of assistance. Instead, the manager worked with the owner to come up with a solution that kept me as a customer, and helped me through the crisis, and avoid late fees and penalties. I couldn't really ask for more from a small business. read more

I have been at ActivSpace for about 6 months now. The initial impression of the staff and the facility were great. The manager at the time Richard was kind and friendly. As soon as he left, his replacement KAT totally killed the vibe. Similar to the reviews already here she conducts herself in a very unprofessional and inappropriate manner. She clearly couldn't care less about her job if she's even turning prospective renters away with her negative attitude. I try calling and only get email responses and attitude. Hope she learns how to act or gets replaced by someone who does. read more

Was a prospective tenant for them. Had the manager on the phone. Asked some basic questions over the phone regarding how many units they had and how many were available. For some reason, she became extremely defensive over the phone. Started to get confrontational. I didn't understand why. Extremely poor customer service. Don't recommend. Also Lake City is one of the worst, least safe areas in Seattle. read more

I was skeptical at first with a lot of hesitation due to not so good reviews of other ActivSpaces in the area. My experience so far has been fantastic.. 3 months in! So happy I decided to take a leap and rent a space. The property manager Mark, was very friendly, professional and helpful through the whole process. While I was in the process of making the right decision rent or not....many questions were asked- during the tour and in addition to plenty of phone calls from home. The application process, rental agreement and introductions to the ActivSpace went very well. I would say the toughest part was getting my internet. Comcast failed to do the job correctly the first time due to a incompetent technician. I do recommend calling the Local Comcast sales rep instead of the 1-800 number. He knows how the internet phone lines are set up. Sprint cell service is not good at this location, calls are dropped however texting works fine although your roaming. Recently, I discovered when I plug my phone into a speaker system to play the radio...I get cell service. So I am able to talk on speaker phone. All my office neighbors are very friendly & respectful too. Parking is tight and not a whole lot of spaces but I've been lucky to get a spot every time as people are coming and going all the time. The bathrooms are cleaned daily and well stocked. Once, I called Mark due to the soap being all used in the ladies room with good resolve- it was replenished quickly. The quick response to the issue was wonderful! Heads up -you have to stay 6 months to get your full deposit back, which I plan on doing & if needed- paint with the color/ brand they want which is clearly stated in the contract. The other property manager is Dave, who is also very professional, friendly & helpful. I highly recommend visiting ActivSpace if you are looking for that work space away from home to get things accomplished. You may be surprised...I know I was! Thank You to Mark & Dave & of course ActivSpace! read more

I got a space here about a year ago, and I absolutely love it. The people are friendly, and the management is very helpful. Unlike some of the other places I looked at for office space, they allow access 24 hours a day - that's perfect for me, because I like to work at night! They also don't mind it when I bring my dog to work with me . The only thing to be aware of is the deposit situation - you need to stay for 6 months to get a full refund (otherwise they keep half of it) and I was told when I moved in it can take up to 4 weeks to get the refund in the mail, longer if the forwarding address is wrong! A lot of people seem to get pissed when they move out because of the deposit - so be aware and keep your expectations in line with reality. Do that, and this place ROCKS. read more

I came here to Yelp just to review ActivSpace because I had nothing but a wonderful experience, I left the space due to coronavirus and wanting to save money and I'm disappointed I had to. I'd rather keep supporting businesses as much as I can, so I figured I'd at least write a review about my experience. It was consistently positive the 10 months I was there. Kat, the manager, has been friendly, kind, patient, helpful, and really everything I would want from a manager, from day one. I am someone who asks a ton of questions and she always patiently answered every one. I am also sad I won't get to pop in and say hi to her from time to time. Well, I suppose I still can! I liked the big windows for my space and the price is very good for getting a work space in Seattle. Also, I have Sprint so that has changed, too, over the years, based on a 2013 review I see here. My cell service was good. I shared wifi with another tenant, so I can't speak to how that was, setting it up. All in all, excellent! Oh, and the move-out process was great for me. It was very clearly spelled out what I needed to do and I did that and deposit is coming back to me - all good. read more
