This is an amazing forum for real estate agents, lenders, home staging, inspectors, title, insurance, any business that is connected to real estate. The wisdom shared by the members is beyond what one agent could learn in his or her lifetime. I had the paid subscription and I received little results. However, I learned with 500,000 points one can have a free subscription. Of course this meant I had to be committed to writing and commenting every day. Fairly useless and impossible to cancel your account. Have had to open credit card disputes for 3 years after emailing numerous times to cancel with ZERO response. Beware!! Would have given a zero if possible. read more

I used to love Active Rain, I had no problem paying for the rainmaker account, until the platform became slow, would freeze, and the customer service became non existent. Ben Kinney, I have always loved hearing you speak, and I was super excited when you purchased Active Rain, however, that's exactly when these problems started happening.. Years later, I have given you another try hoping you had worked out the problems, but NO - It's still a horrible platform. read more

I have requested to cancel my account and they will not reply to my emails. The credit card on file was expired, not sure how my bank would allow them to make the charge to my account. I have requested my bank to do an investigation. DO NOT SIGN UP!! never worked for me and has been a headache to cancel. None of the phone numbers I googled work for the company (wonder why). The staff, top down, has always been exceptionally supportive and helpful. You'll find some of the best real estate bloggers anywhere right here. It's also a great safe place for agents who are taking their first steps to market themselves online. There are thousands of real estate agents here and many like myself from related industries like title insurance, contractors, home inspectors, mortgage brokers, home stagers, virtual assistants, appraisers and technology types who all learn from each other and network. The Activerain University is a goldmine of training webinars, videos and events to help the real estate professional find success through adopting online strategies. They present classes and workshops to help you with SEO, blogging topics, formats and templates, and they teach best practices, good online etiquette and contributing content with value to the consumer. I know Activerain isn't every agents cup of tea and many are steadfast loners and only go their own way, and they should. I don't think it is possible to truly express how great my experience has been with ActiveRain. I ave been blogging on the platform for about 5 years and much of my business is generated from the public finding me through my blogs on ActiveRain. If you are in business you are going to spend some money on advertising. The cost of active rain is next to nothing compared to what it would cost to get what can be gotten from blogging on ActiveRain. It is a great community of the highest level of professionals from agents, brokers, title people, inspectors, and even builders. An update to my previous review. I was extremely frustrated with the fact that I could not log in or be "active" on ActiveRain. Well, I am still not sure what the problem was but I have a sneaky suspicion that I caused my own problem. I may have accidentally put my browser into "stealth" mode. This made it impossible for me to log in. The ActiveRain technical support team did work hard to fix the issue, trouble shooting everything on their end. In the Summer of 2007 I read several articles indicating there was potential value in blogging. It seemed to me the most productive site for the Ktuschkas would be one that was 100% real estate oriented. Of utmost importance, the platform had to stress the needs of both the public and real estate members. My webmaster suggested that ActiveRain appeared to fulfill that requirement. Arthur and I signed on in August 2007 (we wrote five posts that month) that were the epitome of amateurish blogging.. The good news is that AR knew it and, over the next five years, provided members with training and support beyond anything we would have expected. Our community posts and videos rank on top in the search engines for the communities we serve thanks to that effort by the staff at AR That attitude permeates the membership who willingly and openly share ideas, write tutorials and have created a bond unlike any we have experienced in an organization of real estate professionals Has our business benefited? One Star too many! I subscribed to their service (which is not cheap), and then had "hidden" charges to my credit card. I called them to remove the charges to no avail... so I cancelled my service around 21 months ago. After going through receipts, we noticed they just billed my credit card in October a $349.00 fee from ActiveRain. Huh? I cancelled this and had not used their useless services in almost two years! Wow... they also charged us $349.00 the year before that we did not catch. I had made it perfectly clear to cancel my services, but obviously they have continued to charge my card. Since we had "a lot" of receipts that month... we didn't catch that they are illegally charging my card. They even admitted the knew I had not used their services in almost two years, but said since I potentially "could" have used their services, they would not refund the charges. Wow! ActiveRain gives me access I don't want, and then charges my card against my wishes. ActiveRain said according to their policy, I needed "proof" that I had cancelled to get a refund. Since I don't usually tape my phone calls, and it was so long ago... no luck for me. I explained to them that my policy is that no-one is allowed to "steal" from me! Not to worry, I went in and electronically stole money from my bank almost a year ago. If they don't catch it soon enough, I'll just tell them since they didn't catch it right away, the money should be mine! Anyway, I cancelled my credit card with the Fraud department so ActiveRain can't do this in the future. My suggestion would be to "RUN" away from this company fast... their just thieves. read more

I signed up for ActiveRain thinking it was a blog that the public would read. I purchased a Rainmaker account thinking that was what it would take for my blog to go "public". What I didn't know was that the blog was simply for other agents, not the potential buyers and sellers I wanted to reach. I also wasn't aware I was agreeing to an automatic renewal. When I saw the $389.00 charge on my credit card for renewal, I called to cancel. However, they said it had been 36 days since renewal, and after 30 days they don't cancel the account. I realize I have some responsibility in reading the fine print before getting an account, but in the spirit of customer service I think 6 days over their cut off date is a short enough time frame that they should have refunded my money. I would not recommend ActiveRain to any other agent, and I advice everyone to read their account terms thoroughly. read more
