    A charming creek side hike!
    Sabrina A.

Like hiking? How about wine? Then Active Wine Adventures is what you're looking for. This last weekend, my husband and I opted for the easy hike which lasted about an hour and forty five minutes. It followed along a charming creek and Sorel was a great guide, stopping for breaks, tidbits of knowledge and photos. After, he dropped us off for lunch at a beautiful restaurant, Brasswood, which had great food and even an art gallery in the back. Finally, Sorel took us to an organic winery (almost reading my mind!) which was amazing. The location was scenic and the wine was incredible. So much so, I came away with a few bottles (rare for me), but with almost all of the proceeds going to charity, it was another reason to buy more delicious wine. Overall, Sorel was a personal guide with excellent taste. As a couple who travel to Napa about once a year, this was a wonderful way to experience a different side of Napa.

Booked the art & wine tour with Active Wine Adventures for my birthday celebration with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time! Loved that it was a private tour and Sorel really made it feel like a VIP experience. The car was very clean and he had safety shields up and sanitizer after every stop. We went to 2 beautiful wine tastings and had a really yummy lunch. It was hassle free because he set up everything for us and sent over the itinerary before our tour so we knew what was going on! We even had a little bit of extra time, during which he took us through Yountville to see some of their art walk. It was also a nice touch that he took photos of us during our tour and emailed them to me after. I highly recommend booking one of his tours if you're looking for an upscale experience in Napa for a reasonable price. I will be booking one of his other tours in the future!

We booked Active Wine Adventures for a 1 day tour visiting 3 vineyards. We were blown away!!! Truly such a fantastic experience. From the beginning stages of planning, Sorel was quick at responding to emails, very easy to talk to on the phone, and patient as we filled out our paperwork. He planned a truly unforgettable day for us and we were smiling & laughing the entire time. He offers so many tour options and we cannot wait to book some of his other experiences next time we are in town. A+++ in our books. THANK YOU SOREL!!!

We had an amazing experience with Active Wine Adventures! We took the Napa Ultra Adventure #2 which was an 8 mile hike, lunch, and private wine tasting. Everything about it was top-notch! The tour guide and owner, Sorel, was amazing...very knowledgeable and friendly. He makes all the arrangements, you just show up and have a great time!

My wife was adamant in wanting to do the Sonoma foodie tour since she had never been in Sonoma before. Sherry kept in constant contact with my wife by email & text as she was our same tour guide back then. In fact she called her the day before & expressed concern of establishments not fully opened due to covid. So she managed to persuade my wife to do the foodie tour in Napa again instead. Maybe bc my wife told her she was wearing a long dress. Yup that did it! Sherry had started us at the infamous Oxbow public market with taking pics of the 4 of us in front. Yes that was a plus bc how often do you vacation & you do a quick selfie of everywhere you go? Ugh...all the time! LOL Sherry was informative, personable & quite the leader for our tour. She was sensitive to our needs & we totally enjoyed our six different stops walking leisurely from Oxbow market to throughout downtown Napa & back to the market. We had even walked by their farmers market which was on a Tuesday but unfortunately they were in the process of closing up since it was already noon. Our tour was a full three hours & we were totally satiated. What was quite enjoyable was we were with another couple whom we already knew in advance. Supposedly there was supposed to be 6 of us but that third couple mistakenly came the day before. Haha my wife said it was bc the Mercury was in retrograde! This foodie tour was ultimately like our own private tour! Yay! It was also to celebrate my wife's birthday. She had the time of her life. Thank you Sherry! Hope to go on your foodie tour in Sonoma one day soon! Book your next foodie tour here in Napa with Sherry! I highly recommend her. Remember to support these small local businesses & don't forget to tip!

The tour guides (aka very accomplished paranormal investigators) were engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Napa's history and the paranormal. Attendees become paranormal investigators during the tour, given several tools to track paranormal activity (spiritual dowsing rods, and a ghost hunting meter that measures electric signals (as ghosts give off electric signals). We made about 4-5 different stops that are either haunted or have affiliation with death, and Devin helped the group communicate with ghosts during some of the stops, combining storytelling with interesting historical events in Napa. We had a combination of skeptics and believers in our group, including at least one witch. I, of course, came for the entertainment, getting to talk about serial killers, learn a bit about history, and also get in a few laughs as Devin brings the humor as well. I did learn some new things, such as the difference between a ghost and a spirit, possible origins of the terms "lobbying" and "pulling my leg", and that Cole's Chop House (where my bf and I had dinner earlier that day) was formerly a mortuary. We ended at the courthouse, not where we started the tour, with the story of the last public execution in California which took place here in Napa. Overall, we had a fun time, and it's an unconventional way to tour the streets of Napa, and definitely enjoyable if you like ghost stories.

This is also to supplement the Walking Tour, in case some of the more interesting points were missed. I doubt if this Walking Tour includes any of the really important things about Berkeley, such as Melvin Calvin's discovery of the Calvin Cycle, or the discoveries relating to vitamin B12 by Horace Barker, or the discovery by Gilbert Lewis of the covalent bond and his concept of electron pairs. Instead, the Walking Tour is more likely to disclose: (1) Anti-war demonstrations and riots; (2) Free Speech Movement; and (3) Curiosities, such as People's Park, Holy Hubert (evangelist), Pink Cloud (Berkeley Barb salesman), Pravda, the Hate Man, Stoney Burke (performs political comedy), and the successful and famous poet, Julia "Bubble Lady" Vinograd. And so, to prepare yourself for the Walking Tour, I suggest buying a copy of BLESS YOUR DIRTY HEART by Hubert Lindsey, a.k.a., Holy Hubert, and by buying two or three poetry books by Julia Vinograd. I suggest, CANNIBAL CASSEROLE to start out with. MY PHOTOGRAPHS. I took these photographs in the years 1969 to 1971. During the time I was taking freshman chemistry in Latimer Hall, us students were faced with a tough decision. Should we open the windows and let the stinky smell of our chemicals go out the window, or should we keep the windows shut to keep out the stinky smell of the tear gas that the Berkeley police were shooting at the rioters. The day after the riots, I would go out and collect spent tear gas bombs. I have a tear gas bomb that was a rubber ball with a valve on top, and another tear gas bomb that was a blue-painted can made of thick metal, with holes in the can to let the gas come out. I washed the residual tear gas out of the bombs by flushing water over the spent tear gas bombs in the bathroom sink in PRIESTLY HALL dormitory. My photographs show: (1) Bluegrass trio in Sproul Plaza with a mandolin case where you donate money, and where the mandolin case has a sign reading, "KITTY." The term "Kitty" is sometimes used to refer to a place for putting spare change. (2) Also on Sproul Plaza, people playing trombone and clarinet. (3) Holy Hubert on Sproul Plaza. One of the signs reads, "Jesus Christ is coming again to judge this world, follow Christ here on earth. Be persecuted and go to heaven not hell. Another sign reads, "REPENT-REPENT-REPENT Communist Party USSR Communist Party Red China Communist Party U.S.A. Marx-Lenin-Maotsetung ALL 3 ATHEISTS. Bible says Atheist=Fools. I won't follow fools. (4) Riot police on Telegraph Ave. escorting boy to paddy wagon. (5) Sandwich board on Telegraph Avenue. Sign reads, LEOPOLD'S RECORDS New Stones Album $5.99. (6) Boy gets put into paddy wagon, on Telegraph Avenue. (7) Four rioters on Telegraph. One of them flips bird at me. (8) Protest against Nixon and bombs. I took this photo at entrance to U.C. Berkeley campus. (9) Hippie is glad that LBJ died. See headlines from Berkeley Daily Gazette that reads, "Washington Funeral For LBJ." The sign attached to the wooden post reads, "ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL . . . ALICE STEWART & SNAKE . . . June 23." Please note that Alice Stewart & Snake also performed with Big Brother and the Holding Company, at Bimbo's in 1972. (10) Happy gathering on Telegraph. (11) People's Park with Pravda in the nude, as usual. (12) People's Park with row of four friends. (13) Happy gathering on Telegraph, near La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant. You can see GARDEN SPOT MARKET next to La Fiesta. But me and my roommates called this place the GARBAGE SPOT.

You get a great view of the Transamerica building and even learn about POPOS (privately owned public open spaces) which was the best insider tip for the tour IMO.
