I'm not sure why so many complaints, but I froze my account due to covid and limitations and I have not been charged a dime since 4/1/2020. I've been a member since they opened in 2008. It's actually not just a gym, it's a wellness center and is not for everybody. I toured the new Health-quest and it was nothing compare to Synergy. I toured the new In-shape, and I walked in and walked out!!!! The towels they give you for showers are rags that I wouldn't even use to wash my car with!!! I tried the $10 a month gym in River Park and well , that's why it's $10 a month. Synergy is the cleanest and most sanitized place to work out that I've ever been to. It's part of the Queen of the valley , so it is constantly mopped, wiped and dusted and sprayed and cleaned, around the clock.... and that was before Covid!!! The class instructors and staffs are the politest and most courteous and patient and fun and so are the members. If you're not happy working out at Synergy, Well, you're just not a very happy and satisfied person, and that , nobody can fix but yourself....... try other places for a day or so, and you will appreciate Synergy more. read more

After being closed for two weeks for improvements (we were still charged for our entire membership fee), I returned to find that I am disallowed from using the new equipment without setting up a 45 minute training session. However, there are no appointments available. For this month or ANY future months! Beyond this, part of their ' improvements' included removing the only machine that can be used for lifting heavy weights for glutes. I hope management sees this and can explain the logic in removing the only machine available to build strong glutes, which inform so many other functional areas of our mobility. Unless you want to be hounded for payment even after you've canceled your membership and no longer go here... don't even start. The gym is fine and it's nice that they have classes but csncelling was a nightmare. Back in April early in the month I filled out their cancellation form online. No one responded or gave any indication it was being processed. They tried to charge me in May and then they called and I said I filled out the cancellation form. The dude said I just owed for those couple of days since it wasn't filled out in April 1st. I said ok and he proceeded to charge me for another whole month which I did not think was what he said I owed. We're now in August and I'm getting emails telling me my card needs to be updated and I owe money. I don't even go there! I responded to the first email and got a message that the woman no longer works there and to email someone else, which I did, again with no response. Now tonight I have some other woman emailing me that I owe money. So I emailed her. I'm busy and I don't want to chase people around or call during the day when I have real problems to deal with. Who is in charge of billing? Why are there so many people in this nebulous orbit of un-owed membership fees? Why am I on yelp? Oh, that's right, because I'm super annoyed and don't know who is actually culpable for sorting this dumb situation out. Maybe whoever can help will see this complaint. read more

If you enjoy freezing temperatures in the pool area-the water is colder now due to air conditioning blasting down on seniors and kids taking swim lessons have cancelled due to freezing temps. No one gives a crap and this is the second year that this has been going on. Active blames Providence and cannot hire out to get this fixed. I am so upset with this! This gym has really gone downhill recently. Not enough lockers, no soap in the showers, broken equipment throughout which NEVER get fixed. Terribly crowded now that they keep signing new patrons, but they should tell the newcomers they can't afford to keep towels or soap consistently, nor can they fix broken exercise equipment and restroom facilities. Staff is oblivious to the decline and just focuses on getting more and more members. read more

I've been a member for over 12 years and the quality for the gym has only worsened and gotten more expensive. They used to have a wide variety of classes at all hours, but now there are only a handful and they are always full. They took away the option to bring a guest once a month, the sauna is cheap and in poor condition, the pool and hot tub are always broken and their machines are dated. The fee should be $10 a month for the quality of this gym. You're better off taking your service to planet fitness. read more

If you are a swimmer BEWARE! The reason we belong here is because of the pool and they know it. The pool and hot tub are continuously breaking down and they take their sweet time about fixing it normally anywhere from 3 to 5 days. It was closed on the early Friday afternoon and we were told that they had not had anyone out by Monday afternoon. It is now Tuesday and it is still closed the girl at the front desk was very snotty and the manager is never available to speak to when I call I feel that we should be reimbursed some of the monies that we are out because we are not being given the service we signed up for. She said no because we have use of the rest of the gym if we only wanted machines we would join planet fitness for a lot less money. They had issues when it was Synergy but since active wellness took over it's gotten worse. Not to mention the lack of cleanliness, the shortened hours that it is opened, then taking away pool lanes for classes and swim lessons. Very disappointed they take advantage of us that want a nice pool for exercise. I have contacted in the past more than once the manager in the Napa facility and the head honcho to no avail read more

I'm disabled and do my physical therapy in their warm pool. I joined, hoping that I could do my physical therapy on my own. The warm pool in which I do my physical therapy is closed because something is broken. Last year the hot tub was out of commission for many months. I want a gym membership here because I have access to the physical therapy tools that I use in my appointments. Membership isn't cheap here, but I just wish there weren't so many things out of commission all the time. It's run by Providence Healthcare, which is a big company that shouldn't have so many things broken all the time. read more

When available, the gentle/chair yoga classes are good. The problem is that they fill up in the middle of the night and it is impossible to get a reservation. That is NOT good for non-computer users or those who don't get up in the middle of the night to get a reservation. They don't cater to the aging population that seems to comprise the majority of the faces you see actually using the facility. Not worth the hassel or the money. read more

I have been a member for about ten years! Remember when it was a nice , well organized, clean, professional and fun place to go. Personally, I have medical conditions that greatly limit me so have ONLY been interested in the warm water classes or walking in the lap pool. These have not been available yet I still have to pay a " freeze " fee monthly! This month I was churched the full fee! I have not been into the gym in months. They are aware of my situation. Synergy is a great gym! I have been a member for over 5 years. Synergy isn't the biggest gym in Napa but they have so much to offer. They have recently remodeled their facilities and have brand new machines and upgraded lockers. The best part of the gym is the area with the TRX equipment. It's such a nice area that allows for you to do your own workout. I am also a member at a local crossfit box. But, because of the hours offered by my crossfit box I am not always able to make it. So the fact that Synergy has TRX equipment I am able stick to my crossfit training. They also have a variety of weights like dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells and medicine balls. If weight lifting isn't for you and you're wanting to do cardio and are up for a challenge Judy's spin class is perfect for you! Judy is such an awesome trainer. Her spin class is by far my favorite class offered at Synergy. Judy will push you and motivate you to go that extra mile. Her music selection is also pretty cool. Synergy offers $15 day passes so if you are in the area stop by and check them out. read more

Reasonably priced, reasonably clean and convenient with ample parking. Excellent pool, weights and machines. Group classes OK. Instructors vary in quality and change quite a bit. Front office stuff is not very knowledgeable and can be quite rude. Accounting and sign-up processes are a problem. Accounts expire for no reason and get reassigned to different customers while the staff cannot explain any of it. read more

Really? Half, oops I mean only ten to fifteen per cent of the lockers (the ones with the tiny black circle on top-usually in the corner) in the women's room work. Why? Ask the front desk and they'll tell you the lockers need very expensive "hinge or full lock repairs". Yet, when I brought a couple of AA batteries with me and eyeglass screwdrivers, I was able to take off the plate on an empty battery unit and put in new batteries. I put back on the plate and the "expensive repair" was completed for under $2 bucks and the locker worked fine. Next the towels-they are greasy (not properly washed?) and waaay too small. The staff gives you a dirty look if you ask for two. The other health club around the corner gives out as many towels as you want and has stacks of them in the bathroom, I mean locker room, and throughout the gym. Their towels are big and fluffy. That reminds me Active Wellness has this dying energy-the majority and I mean almost all the folks who work out are old (I know I fit the category) and are treated condescendingly by staff. Plus the place is usually very empty-I thought this was a plus until I realized the deadness of the place. The classes are all inthis really tiny room (to make them look full?). The trainers are very amateurish. For example, do not sign up for weight training with Body. He is rude to us seniors and gives both his elderly male and female students Barbi doll weights to do.I know someone who is in her 50s and she has been training with him for a long time and is STILL stuck on the first or second bar on the machines. Finally, they send you really nasty emails if you skip a class or not-I had a class that they waited 20 minutes to tell us the teacher would mot show up and they sent ME, NOT HER, nasty messages for missing a cancelled class I actually showed up for. I never got a response whenI complained. Nobody at the front desk will respond to you. Go figure. read more

Very nice facility. This will be my second year here coming to volunteer as a swim coach for Special Olympics; they let the Napa team use their pool on Wednesday nights for an hour and we are very grateful for that! The pools are kept at a nice temperature and are always clean! In fact, this whole facility is well kept. The only negative is that the front desk people can be quite rude sometimes. read more

Aqua Smile is a great class in the warm pool but they book up to 20 people in this pool with a very small part of it just over 4" deep. Hence 20 people are trying to move, kick, swing their arms and they are running into each other. Very uncomfortable and worrisome with Covid still being a "thing." I joined mainly to swim and was assured that the pool was not crowded during weekday afternoons. That. Is a colossal lie. The pool is ALWAYS jammed and there is rarely a free lane. Most "swimmers" spend half their time resting at the end of each lap, thereby chewing up large amounts of pool time. A great club if you want to relax, stare into space, sit in the jacuzzi.... Synergy is such a nice place. My three kids have swim lessons with Sam, and she is amazing with them. She provides a great environment for confident swimming and encourages water safety. She is very kind and understanding, as my kids can be a bit wild and she handles it like a pro! The girl at the front desk is also very friendly. She greets us with a smile every week! Although I do not use the rest of the facility, it is very clean, and you just cannot beat a great friendly staff. I definitely recommend swim lessons here with Sam! read more

This club is fantastic. I know we are just coming out from covid but this club has done a great job keeping it clean and healthy. Even with covid restrictions they still give a nice selection of outdoor classes that are fantastic. The Cardio and Weight Rooms are never crowded with plenty of equipment to choose from. They have a huge indoor pool area that I haven't tried but it looks to always be clean and active. Employees are all great and the front desk is always eager to help with any questions. My GF comes here monthly to meet with a nutritionist and I usually sit in the corner observing the facility. I think they could add more staff but most people appear to be running their own program based off staff recommendation. There's a lot of seemingly happy seniors so I'm guessing that the facility works well for the over 50 crowd. I'm not a gym rat and I don't work out, yet I think I would feel comfortable in this facility should I ever decide to work on eliminating my robust size read more

Not sure I'd come back. Was a lot of trouble for an hour swim. I had to fill out a bunch of forms, pay $20 and then endure emails and a phone call from a staff member trying to sell me a membership. The pool itself was nice but I got lectured from a regular about swimming on only one side of a lap lane, rather than a circle swim as specified by the signs at the pool. She explained that she ignored the rules and did it her way, and that I should comply. What a self-absorbed jerk. read more

This is a beautiful gym with lots of classes and equipment. I have been a member for 5 years. However, since re- opening after the earthquake and getting new management, the lap pool temperature has become much colder and I no longer want to swim there. Many other members are also complaining. Their warmer "Therapy" pool is only open during the day and then mostly only for specific classes. This is an incredible gym! New facility with every machine imaginable. The locker rooms are upscale and it has all of the amenities you would want from a gym. The best part for me is that they offer an insane amount of classes throughout the day. I work odd hours and it's difficult to find a gym that offers an 11am or 2pm class. Not here!! You'll find multiple classes offered for nearly every hour of the day. I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews! I've never experienced a problem with payment or registration... It is all fair and the staff is very clear about what a membership entails. Perhaps one downside is the facility is associated with the hospital and caters to a crowd of all ages and people in rehabilitation. As a member you receive a health evaluation, consultation with a dietician, lots of free guest passes, and your choice between a fitness consultation, a one-hour massage or facial. read more

I've been after getting a personal trainer for 3 months now. I've filled out 3 comment cards & no one will return my calls. I suspect it may be due to my training goals. Where as my husband put down "I want to hire a personal trainer" and he was called 3 days later. I don't think writing down that you would like to hire one should determine whether anyone wants to work with you or not. I was a member of Synergy for 4 years until the new management took over. Although not announced, it became slowly clear that something had changed. My first encounter with Paul, the new "GM" was because I had taken a class where I felt the teacher was a safety risk to the students, lacking safety awareness, gossiping with the students about a firing, saying she just cared about keeping her classes, and getting more. When I spoke with Paul about my concerns regarding her unprofessionalism, he literally laughed at me and said, "yeah, but some people like her." A few months later, I went to a class that had had an amazing instructor, only to find that it was being taught by the instructor I had complained about. I sought out Paul, who was out on the floor exercising. When I expressed my dismay and told him I was leaving the club and wanted a refund for the month, he literally argued back at me, right at the front desk and said "you're not getting a refund." He was belligerent, argumentative, defensive, totally unprofessional. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he happily gave me the person's name. This is when I discovered that Synergy was now managed by a company independent of the hospital ... Paul could have cared less, and had no problem publicly arguing and defending his position. Unbelievable and sad, Synergy was true a great gym, but having management with attitude and unconcerned about the members, it is doomed. read more

I've been a member for years and today I recently tried my first class. It was the Perinatal Yoga class. It was absolutely horrible. I mean unsafe horrible! I am going to give the water prenatal class a go too...I was so extremely disappointed. Poor body mechanics, no breathing exercises to start, and no cool down. No wonder ever person in the class was there for the first time. I can't imagine people returning to do this class. read more
