On average I work out 7+ times per week doing different exercise modalities. That type of activity…read moreon your body takes its toll. I used to get massages on a regular basis but fell off the massage wagon. A friend of mine highlighted that she has gotten massages once a month for the last 14 years. I was definitely behind the 8 ball on massages. My friend's long-term revelation was eye-opening, so I decided to get a massage today with Green Care Massage, which is located on W. Parmer, next door to Tomo Sushi. My massage choice was a deep tissue massage. Those polls are not for curtains!!! When my massage therapist asked me could she work on my back, I thought, I said yes. What she actually said was can I "walk" on your back. In my head, I was thinking why do her hands feel like feet...because they were feet! Snappity, snap, snap...I was getting a full on Ashiatsu massage (also known as back walking massage or barefoot massage). If you are not aware, Ashiatusu is a technique where the massage therapist uses their feet to apply deep pressure while holding onto overhead bars for balance and control. The word "Ashiatsu" is a Japanese word meaning (ashi=foot and atsu= pressure.) Apparently, my back was so tight I needed Ashiatsu first. My massage beginning to end was incredibly effective and rejuvenating experience. From the moment the session began, it was clear the massage therapist was highly skilled and knew her craft. The deep, slow strokes and focused techniques worked through my knots and tight muscles, especially in my back and legs. While there were moments of intensity that you would expect with deep tissue work, it was never painful (pressure...no pain). Afterward my body felt like it had exhaled and breathing fresh air.... well worth the time and money. I could feel the tension evaporating with each targeted movement. It is important note, I felt soreness in my neck and back during the massage that I did know existed previously. After the massage session, I noticed a significant improvement in my mobility and range of motion. My usual stiffness had disappeared. I do not know if I will get a massage once a month, but I certainly will not wait too long before another one.

They open at 9:30 for those early birds like myself. I've had massages by Angie several times now and she is wonderful. Next time I swear I'm going for the 120 min massage...and there will be a next time!

I'm so happy I found Megan at White Lotus Touch! I went for a 60 min Swedish massage, and I've…read morenever felt so relaxed during a massage. White Lotus Touch is located inside Big Tex Gym. It was super easy to book an appointment online. I've gone to several massage therapists in the fancy spas at the Domain and have always left a little disappointed. Either they disregard my goals (e.g. I ask them to focus on my back and they spend half of their time on my legs), or they apply a painful amount of pressure, or the pressure is too light, even after I give them feedback, and they cost an arm and a leg. But Megan is the massage therapist I've been looking for. Before the massage, she asked me what areas I wanted her to focus on, and during the massage, she stuck with what I asked for. She created a relaxing environment with music and incense. Most importantly, she listened to my body to apply the perfect amount of pressure and even checked in verbally to make sure I was happy with the pressure. I couldn't recommend her more.

She made me feel plenty relaxed and quite at ease, all the while providing an amazing massage with the optimal pressure. The ambience was great while her bedside manners were even more exquisite. Definite recommendation for anyone looking for massages and I look forward to future sessions

A very is my top massage specialist that I refer my clients to who need more specific work. In addition, I see him myself for my own needs! I've worked with about 15 massage therapists around Austin since I moved down here 12 years ago. Within the 90 minutes I schedule to work with Avery, we cover more ground than any massage therapist that I've worked with in the past. Avery really gets to work. He uses specialized tools, infrared and cold therapy treatments. His tool kit is expansive and he is very knowledgeable with the body and how things connect. While you may have pain in one part of the body, it is very likely that it is the symptom of a problem that is occurring in another area of the body. These are the types of situations you need a skilled, tenured therapist like Avery to be able to pick up on and address. Many massage therapists don't have an appreciation for this, while Avery does. I highly recommend Avery to anyone that wants to see progress with their pain and injury limitations. He will give you homework to work on between sessions, which allows greater progress to be made in future sessions. 10/10 recommendation.
