Riffs Bird Rock is hands down my favorite yoga studio in San Diego! (I have ClassPass, so I've…read morechecked out a lot of yoga studios. And I like this one so much I bought a class pack here.) Their Ocean Beach location is nice too, but really sets this one apart is its outdoor deck. I've always believed yoga is exponentially better when it's outdoors, and the vibes of this outdoor deck are immaculate. I love practicing in the shade under the coverings, among lots of plants and nice classmates (everyone I've encountered here is lovely). Every class I've been to here, from vinyasa to slow flow to hatha, has been basically perfect. Also, parking isn't too bad, and I love Bird Rock. My favorite thing is stopping by Calumet Park before or after class, since it's only a couple blocks away and offers a killer ocean view. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or you've never tried yoga before, I would definitely recommend checking out Riffs! It's both accessible for beginners and authentic for those who are more into yoga.

I've been here multiple times. Great studio, very clean and with an awesome vibe. I love being…read moreoutside and I especially love the area at the back of the yoga space where you aren't quite under the canopy and you can look up at the trees. I also love the little altar that they have set up on the steps in between the instructor and the deck where the students are practicing. They always have it decorated with seasonal items and it's so pretty. I really enjoy the instructors. Today was Asia and she always teaches such an engaging flow. I also enjoy the classes with the live music. What I'm not a big fan of is the wellness area they have set up behind the studio in the grassy area adjacent to the yoga deck. They do cold plunge out there during the class and to be honest, I find it distracting. During today's class there was someone in the cold plunge in the beginning, fortunately that person was very quiet, but I was aware that they were back there. There have been other times when I was there when there were people in the cold plunge and they were laughing and talking while the class was going on. I get it that the studio is in the heart of Bird Rock that there is other noise from the street, from the taco shop next-door, etc. But to have the distraction in the space you are practicing in is not ideal. When I checked in at the front, the girl who had me sign the waiver asked me if I was aware that they had a wellness area behind the studio. I told her yes, and that I was not a big fan of it. She told me that they are brainstorming ways to separate that area from the front of the studio more efficiently. Hopefully they come up with some solutions!

The rooftop location is super cool, open air with beautiful California sunshine and gorgeous views stretching all the way out to La Jolla beach. The colorful hanging fabrics give the whole space such a fun and vibrant energy. Our instructor was amazing, super patient and attentive with each of us to make sure we were doing the poses safely and correctly. I honestly surprised myself with how flexible I still am! The class gave us a really deep stretch and left me feeling relaxed and refreshed in a way I wasn't expecting. The space also has a big yoga dome right next door and a restaurant serving up a great selection of healthy food, which is a nice bonus before or after class. Just a couple things to keep in mind: parking can get tricky so give yourself extra time, and spots in the class fill up fast so make sure to book ahead. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a workout that's fun, unique and actually feels good for your body!

This is a women owned business & I cannot be more proud of Erika & Leeann for doing what they do, what they've accomplished, & what is yet to come! This studio isn't your typical Barre studio, they really do teach more than just Barre, but also connecting to your mind, body, & soul. I love the fact this studio is not a chain, which makes it more special because it locally owned & their technique is impressive! I noticed there is never more than 10 people in the class, which is a plus! The instructors are able to concentrate on helping everyone with their forms & it becomes more personal compared going to a chain. I love the fact that every class/workout is different! The esthetics of the studio is what makes it different as well. Everything from the scents to décor, it gives a good energy & it literally doesn't make you feel like you're at a typical gym or workout space. All the women who work in the studio really do put in all their efforts to make everyone special & feel so welcomed. Try a class & you won't regret it!

Class sizes are small and Erika and LeeAnn are amazing instructors! One thing so unique about this studio is Erika makes sure your form is correct so that you don't hurt yourself. After I mentioned I was having back issues to Erika after class, she spent some time with me to make sure my form was correct and I haven't had any issues since! So appreciative of Erika and the Barre and Bay Wreath community. I hadn't taken barre classes previously and was very weak when I first started, but I always felt welcome. Love coming to classes here and can really see the difference in how strong I'm getting!! Can't wait for my next class!!

The studio was super clean, well-ventilated, and organized. She gave me a quick tour and helped me pick out my equipment since I was new. The class was a full hour, and was shaking by the end of the warmup, it is an incredibly leg heavy workout. The chair sits similarly destroyed me. Arm and core work came after leg, and I was much more comfortable doing those, but the barre leg movements were challenging for me. My legs ached for days after, but I will definitely be back! Pro tip for this barre3 location specifically, it's only a few blocks away from Wayfarer Bakery and Bird Rock. I strongly recommend pre-ordering for both places and just setting the pickup time for after your class! There are many beaches and cliffs in the area where you can sit and eat. Breakfast with a view after a good workout, what more do you need!?
