I'll start with the positives. It is a very nice staff & location. The billing process was simple. The not so positives. No staff or other patients were wearing masks. It's a simple precaution that a medical office should be using. The adjustment itself did not do what it needed to do, unfortunately. We come every few months to keep my little guy moving correctly and you can't beat $15 a visit. Update: Dr. Peterman and I have recently referred people to one another. He also uses the activator which I prefer over hand manipulation and he spent years training other chiropractors how to use it properly. I have been a patient of Dr Petermann for over 20 years. My problems are many RA, polio, compression of L1 / C6-7 and a few other things. This man is amazing. He uses the Activator Method which gives a light tap to the point on your body which he determines by his method. This method is done as you lay face down on his table. It's a quick touch with his hand then the activator on the point of your body which hurts. Then the pain is gone 99% of the time. I moved to Arizona from Michigan a few years ago. In Michigan, I saw a chiropractor who used the Activator method and I really liked that approach to chiropractic care. When I moved to Arizona, I had difficulty finding a chiropractor who used the Activator method. A couple of months ago, a co-worker gave me Dr. Petermann's name and since his office is close to where I work, I decided to give him a try. I am SO HAPPY to have found Dr. Petermann! Holy cow. I have so much to say about how amazing Dr. Petermann is. I've never written a review before and feel compelled to do so after what he's done for me and my daughter. I was referred to him by a friend of mine several months ago after telling her about my 9 year old daughter's neck. A yr ago my daughter Lily's neck started making a horrible gravelly sound when she moved her neck from side to side and she felt pain/discomfort in her upper spine and lower neck. She'd tell me, "It hurts but mostly it feels like I need to crack it. It's uncomfortable." I was totally freaked out by the gravelly sound and took her to her pediatrician. Her pediatrician was freaked out by the sound especially since there had been no injury. She had us go get xrays and called Phoenix Children's Hospital and w/in a week Lily had an appt with a Rheumatoid Specialist. Lily moved her head from side to side and the dr. actually gasped and made a crazy face when she heard the noise and said, "In all my years of working with kids I have never heard that sound." She said it's definitely not arthritis and referred me to a pediatric orthopedist. The orthopedist looked at the xrays and listened to the scary neck sound and very nonchalantly said, "It's totally normal. She's growing and her joints are more flexible. There's nothing to be worried about. She'll grow out of it." What I thought was so strange about this was he barely even touched Lily's back or neck. We got through the summer and nothing had changed. I contacted her pediatrician again asking for help since I could no longer accept that this is "normal". It made me so sad seeing my child in pain and discomfort and more than anything, I just knew that gravelly sound wasn't right. So her pediatrician pulled some strings and got an appointment for us to see a Spine specialist at PCH who was highly regarded. I was hopeful he'd figure this out. He spent maybe 4 minutes with us, told me I didn't need to panic, that it's totally normal and that it's similar to when his wife cracks her knuckles, nothing to worry about. Ha! I was ready to cry AND laugh. So it's been 9 months of hell at this point and after seeing every sort of specialist that would've known what was wrong with Lily, my friend refers us to Dr. Petermann. I hadn't gone to a chiro at this point because Lily's my little girl and the scary neck sound made me afraid to have someone go to town on her back and neck with all of the cracking many chiros do. I was a little skeptical about the activator. It looks like a pen that is just being clicked all over the patient. It even makes a fun clicky sound as Dr. Petermann demonstrated. Dr. Petermann spent some time to talking to both me AND Lily and did some weird thing where he has Lily lie flat on her tummy and looks at her feet and has her put her arm behind her back, down by her side, all the while looking at her feet. He seemed like he knew what he was doing and he was actually INTERESTED in helping my child so I felt secure in letting him do what he needed to do. And I could tell Lily was really comfortable with him despite it being a very new experience for her. So he looked at her feet a lot and then started using the activator in a variety of places. It sounded just like someone clicking a pen and Lily said it didn't hurt at all. Something important to mention is (and I'm just now realizing this and ready to cry) Dr. Petermann validated my concerns. He agreed with me that what Lily had been experiencing during the last year was not "normal" and would not go away on it's own. There was a serious misalignment that'd been there for a yr and was going to take some time getting everything back in place and staying put once it was in place. It's been a few months and we're almost there. Adjustments were frequent to start and now Lily sees Dr. Petermann every 2 weeks. Pain is almost completely gone and gravelly sound is now just a light clicking if Lily moves her head in just the right way. Last night Lily asked, "Do I go to Dr. Petermann's tomorrow?" When I said no she said, "Awwww!" I said, "Pretty soon you will be all better and not need to see Dr. Petermann anymore." She actually said, and I am NOT LYING, "I'm going to be sad." That is how much she loves going. Not just because of the relief she feels after the adjustment but because she sees Dr. Petermann as her buddy. He's always listened to her, answered her questions and made her feel safe. Plus he's super funny and she loves that. I've never felt rushed and his rate is surprisingly low. I can't recommend him enough. I had him do some adjustments on my own neck, hip and back and had fantastic results with that clicky activator thingy. He's a caring person, he knows what he's doing and what he's doing works. My little girl and I are proof of that. read more
