I can't speak for other peoples experiences, but I was extremely satisfied. This review is for service done about a year ago. I went in thinking I was having transmission issues. They determined I was actually having brake issues. They could have seriously padded their till that day, but provided a service that was the least expensive of the things the issue could have been. I wouldn't have known any better if they told me it was one thing and repaired something different. They kept me informed the entire time of their progress and their completion time, then followed up to ensure all was well. They told me I would need more work done to the brakes, but it could hold off. Now is the time for that work. If I were still close to their store, it would not be a question where I'd be going. Wanted $260 to service a rear differential on an F150. Ford dealership only charges $149. Serious price gouging going on. Charged $150 to drop my transmission pan and do an inspection. When I picked truck up, the pan was still covered in grime and dirt. Gave the appearance that it wasn't even touched by a technician. When I questioned the owner, Robin, he got irate on the phone and told me basically that it took them two days to get my truck on the rack and that I was more or less a waste of their time as a customer. He went on to say that I was paying for an inspection, not a cleaning. While I understand that, I feel any technician worth their salt will take enough pride to simply wipe off the old fluid and grime buildup before replacing the pan. It just pride and shows quality in their craft. One picture shows the condition of the pan when I picked it up with oil and dirt still on it appearing untouched. The other picture is where I wiped it clean and drove it 15 miles and was still clean. A little pride fellas. Save your money and go to a dealer. Very disappointing service with these guys. I wanted to support local small business during these hard times, but now I remember why I always do my own work. After reading their others reviews, I realize I should've read them before taking my vehicle to them. Pretty sure they were not happy that I wasn't willing to spring 3k on a transmission that ran perfect when I dropped it off. RIP OFF COMPANY! Saw the excellent reviews in Yelp so decided to try it. Called them and explain (to Gill- manager) the nature of the repair of my car. He explained to me the alternatives. I was persuaded so i brought my car the following day. Said he will call me after the technicians assessed my car. True indeed, after 3 days he called and told me what was needed and explained to me everything. BUT, he said another alternative that was never mentioned to me on the very first time that we talked. Take note: the change of engine was never ever mentioned during the first conversation. He said that engine should be changed and offered me a $2311.11 engine with 106,000 mile on it. I said i dont like to change my engine. I like the engine in my car or i can buy an engine in another shop costing me less than the price of the engine he offered and less - less mileage. He said that he will talked to the owner (Robin) about it and will give me a call. A week later no call was made. I personally visited them (25 minutes drive) and told him that he was supposed to call me and tell me what happened to his conversation with Robin. He said, that i should have been the one calling. That is ridiculous, he specifically mentioned that he will be talking to Robin about it and then informed me later on! Then he insisted that i should change the engine/motor. He showed me the estimates of the costs of changing the engine and that of the repair of head gasket. The repair of head gasket is cheaper than a $1000. Knowing this ahead of time gives me advantage in negotiation. As if being persuaded by his explanation, i asked him the last final straw to decide whether this guy is ripping me off. I asked him what happened with the old engine in my car if i agree to change the engine. I asked this because i am the owner of the old engine. It is mine and have the right to bring it home. He said, and this actually ticked me off, it will be shipped. Instead of saying that it is mine and can bring it home, he said that it will be shipped to another place. What?! This is the rip off guys- my old engine, which has a 90,000 mileage in it, will be repaired/fixed and later on sold- just like the engine that was being offered for sale to me. And because my old engine has a lesser mileage than the one he is selling (90,000 vs. 106,000), my engine will be more expensive. Besides, my engine contains new parts that i changed - water pump, thermostat, etc. What will happen with these parts? Sold also. This is a rip off. So, on the same day, i decided to pull my car and bring it to another shop. So be wary with this kind of transaction. Great service, up front estimates and pricing, really a place to take your vehicle when you want to know that your $$$ is going toward the repair work, not toward fancy furniture and unneeded office perks. Robin & Kris care about people, and that shows in their attention to the customer and fixing the problem --I could tell they were not trying to find or create new expensive problems in my truck, just diagnose and treat what was wrong. They did, it runs great, and I felt like a fair price. Give them a call, or better yet, pay them a visit. While camping in Jacksonville the transmission on our truck began to overheat. After researching local transmissions shops we decided to go with Action and so very glad we did. These folks really figured out our issues. Robin explained the process, the repair needs and issues with our truck. The work was completed when promised and sooner than we really expected. Cost was very reasonable for work done. We pulled our camper 400 miles on a very hot day with no issues. Eight miles from home the transmission began to over heat again. We called Robin and he told us to take it to a shop that honors the warranty. We did that and a simple tweak was made with no cost to us. Truck is running great. Really appreciate meeting people that do not take advantage of travelers. read more

Unfortunately my experience was not good. Had a $ 2200.00 repair and it broke again a short time after (within 2 weeks) Action would not honor the warranty and I had to pay again to get the same repair done, at a different business and it cost me another $ 480.00. Not to mention a hotel room and rental car. When I tried to get a refund from Action and submitted the paperwork for the second repair they accused me of having it fabricated to get out of reimbursing me. I have all the original receipts for the tow and the repair. I also had to get a hotel room and a rental car and have those original receipts too. I was only asking to get reimbursed for the actual repair since Action didn't fix it properly. It has held up fine now. read more

These guys are the best ! I should be writing 3 reviews for them. They are a family owned & operated business that knows how to take care of their customers. I have an '02 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins diesel that I use to tow my toys around the SE. Most recently, I went in with my torque converter kicking in & out at city speeds. I'm thinking, "Here we go, about $1k in repairs & down for a week." Nope! Kris has seen this problem before & had it back to me in a day. Turned out to be a minor electrical problem that tells the computer to kick the solenoid. The point is, these guys know how to troubleshoot & diagnose a problem, instead of just remove & replace parts. read more

I am usually leery of repair shops and for the most part I do my own repairs. However I needed a shop to fix a small trans fluid leak. After some online research I gave Action a call and spoke with Robin. Made an appt for the next day and took the car in. After a short wait it was taken in and evaluated. To my relief it was a reasonably priced repair. I set a time for the following week and dropped the vehicle off. Also had the trans serviced at that time. My opinion of this shop: Knowledgeable, professional, neat and organized. Robin was very personable and treated me like I was spending several thousand there not three hundred. I went to Action transmission to have my truck check because the transmission shake when it's on drive between 20-30 miles. I didn't know what to expect. I talked to Robin and he explained to me all the repair scenario, the cost, and time it will take to the repair. He gave me a fair price. I was taken in by Action Transmission on Merrill Rd Jacksonville, Fl. My auito was taken in because it was hesitating at takeoff. After Action transmission kept auto for three days, The began to replace many "gaskets" WITHOUT any permission from me. I was NEVER given a estimate, nor was I even told of their intentions. I have the work order, Nothing signed, nor was any vocal estimate offered. After auto was returned to me, Not one thing on auto was changed as to the problem was changed. Auto was acting the same way as to when I took it in to be repaired. It hesitated when pulling off!!!!!!!! After I took it back, and told them there was no difference, I was told they changed the "gaskets" WHY????? Gaskets had absolutely nothing to do with the problem!!!!!!! I WAS CHARGED $388.00 FOR NOTHING!!!! I am sending copy of this to every Consumer Aghency that I can find that will listen, Then I will contact an Attorney if one says I have a case.
