Every interaction I had with the other personnel there was also pleasant and respectful, and I would absolutely come back. From the beginning, John's communication, transparency, honesty, and respect went a long way with me. What really sealed the deal was when he offered to let me stay at his home while he worked on my truck because I lived about four hours away. Nobody had to do something like that, and it spoke volumes to me about his character and the kind of person he is. Most importantly, the timing job itself has been great. I've now put roughly 2,000 miles on my truck since the repair and changed the oil twice. There is no timing-related ticking, and she's running beautifully. John also spent additional time troubleshooting a charging-system issue that came up after everything was put back together, which I really appreciated. He also replaced my master window module, which has been working perfectly. My only disappointment came from some of the additional work. While he had the truck, John recommended replacing the belt tensioner and engine mounts. I trusted his judgment and told him to go ahead. My original quote was around $1,100, and I ultimately paid approximately $2,100. I didn't mind paying more because I wanted the truck fixed correctly and assumed the additional parts being installed were OEM or comparable high-quality parts. Unfortunately, the replacement belt tensioner failed shortly afterward and caused my nearly new serpentine belt to shred. The engine mounts were also not installed and were instead given to me. After what happened with the tensioner, I'm hesitant to install those mounts because I don't know their quality or how long they'll last. I reached out to John afterward to let him know what happened with the tensioner but unfortunately never received a response. That was probably my biggest disappointment. I wasn't looking to argue, bicker, or demand money back. I simply would have appreciated some accountability--even something as simple as, "That's on me, bring it back and I'll take care of it," or offering to work something out the next time I needed service. That being said, I want to be fair because the major repair I originally brought my truck to John for was done well. After 2,000 miles, my truck is running reliably again, and I'm very happy with the timing work. I trust John's mechanical ability and appreciate what he did for me, especially accommodating me despite the distance I traveled. I also appreciate the shop allowing him to do the work there, and everyone else I interacted with treated me well. I would absolutely return in the future. I plan on keeping this truck in my family for as long as I reasonably can, and if another major repair eventually comes up, I genuinely hope John is still around because I would consider bringing her back to him. Overall, I'm grateful to John for getting my truck back on the road and dependable again. I just wish there had been better follow-up and accountability regarding the failed tensioner and the additional parts.

Did not have any oil leaks issues before we dropped it off. Had transmission service but not the oil leaks Moved the car first thing in the morning and there's a big puddle of oil. How in the hell do you get an oil leak like that by just dropping it off to them. I just drove it from Fort Myers which is 5 Hrs drive with no leaks the before no oil leaking at all. Not sure what could happen in less while it was there. I would not recommend them.

This was not happening for me, so I knew it was the fuel pump. After two hours the two truck came to my rescue in the cold and darkness. I brought the car to my home. Then on Monday, I called John's and asked if they could fix my car. I had several friends recommend them. I am so happy that I went there. They have a new customer for life! Pros: Very fair prices on parts and R&R. Nice and trustworthy Owners and Mechanics. Cons:very limited parking space. I let them know when the tow truck was in the way. When I called to make an appointment, I told whoever I was talking to that I truthfully had no idea what the hell I was doing and that all I needed was an oil change LOL. I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly, so I just had to wait for the day to come. Once I got there, Gary and John were super sweet and helpful. For once at a mechanic shop, I actually felt welcomed and respected as a young woman and didn't feel like I'd be taken advantage of because of my lack of car knowledge. That was honestly super refreshing. After my oil change was done and I came back to pick up my car, Mr. Gary pointed out a couple of things that might become issues or inconveniences in the future. I told him I wasn't worried about them at the moment and for the first time ever at a mechanic shop, there was no pressure to pay for extra services or repairs. The DREAD auto repair on Theresa Drive in Jacksonville was able to fix it by replacing a few hoses ended up costing about 1200 in total!!! When I called The DREAD at first I told them it probably needs a new engine, but I just wanted to make sure so he could have went ahead and told me that it did but he was an honest mechanic which is very hard to find! He said there is no way the other auto repair shop could have diagnosed it with a new engine with all of the hose leaks, but if we replaced all the hoses, the engine might be good and it worked! They rebuilt a transmission and installed it in our car last year, and gave us a one year warranty on it. About a month ago it started having transmission issues and we took it to a different shop, just to get checked. The first shop (which is highly trusted in Jax) checked the transmission fluids, and said the fluids were good and to take it back to the people who rebuilt it since it's under warranty. So we did.. the next day...and it sat in their lot, for over two weeks, before they even looked at it. After looking at it, they claimed the transmission Fluid line had a leak, which is what caused the transmission issues. Sus since the fluids were fine when we dropped it off. They wanted to charge us the price of a newly rebuilt transmission. Even though it's under warranty. Claiming they won't cover it because the leak is our fault. crooked. Then, after having our car for over 4 weeks and wrongfully having to paying them... our car died again, two weeks after getting it back from them. Took it back and they said it was the rear driveshaft. Surprise surprise they say it's our fault and want more money to fix it. EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED TO THE FACT THAT THEY PULLED THE DRIVESHAFT OUT ENABLE TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. But they said it couldn't possibly be their fault. Shocking.... On Wednesday September 2 I had still heard nothing about my vehicle I called and was told, can you believe they were just about to bring in in the shop bay to inspect it had now been two day of getting the Sunshine Treatment. I get a text message with a link to inspection report. I text back asking for a quote which I received and I gave an OK to estimate and asked for completion date which I was told was Wednesday September 9. When I questioned I was told I did not understand how complex the repair. I told them to proceed. On Friday September 4 I stopped by unannounced and found my vehicle still sitting in the same spot as when dropped off and untouched. I was very upset and was told I had never approved the repairs. When I showed them the text message it again was not their fault it was miscommunication. I should have known at this point five days later and still nothing done that this was not a professional repair shop and they were as their name said Sandalwood Car Careless. I was told my vehicle would be ready on Wednesday September 9. Want to take a guess if ready, well the answer is NO and it had not been touched. Then on Thursday September I get a call from the owner tell me my vehicle still not ready and they cannot complete all the repairs as they do not have the knowledge nor capabilities to do that type of repair. This is where it was somewhat my fault as all the pervious issue were telling me they do not have the knowledge and skills to do the repairs. This though they should have admitted to start. Well then on Friday September 11 I called Sandalwood Car Careless to see if vehicle finished at 10:00am and was told NO, when I got upset as now we going on two weeks I was told I not respect them. Well I was always told you had to earn respect to get respect and at this time I had caught them in over four lies. I finally was able to pick up my vehicle on Friday September 11 at 4:00pm. Now the cherry on top, they gave me the wrong bill for person and vehicle that was not me. They did not even know my name or vehicle. This is the most unprofessional business I have ever seem. On a positive I was not charged for the eight days of Sunshine Treatment nor 8 days of lot storage. Since that was Greek to me, I went to another place and was told the same. I thought this odd as the car had been aligned before without mention of these now missing pieces. The second place suggested I go to a suspension shop. The suspension shop recommended G&H Tires, which made all the difference. The owner, Roger Grant, explained that both places were wrong, although both places did alignments. He used a picture and also showed me the new parts. The parts only needed to be replaced by updated adjustable parts-the so called "missing pieces" were still on the vehicle. Mr. Grant was thorough, gave me the prices up front, and kept them. As you can tell, I'm not well-versed in car talk. But I know quality and professionalism and found both at G&H tires.

He would rather deflect responsibility or help than find out what happened and I wasn't asking anything unreasonable or for free if it was something else's I'm willing to pay for it but now I just feel scammed because I ask them to fix what they broke.
