What a refreshing experience going to Action Rehab was! Yes, you wouldn't typically say that about getting PT right? I am extremely grateful to the staff and team at Action Rehab, who made me feel right at home. Currently living in HNL and going to school. This PT clinic came highly recommended by my surgeon at Straub. (I also checked with my local friends here and they had lots of good things to say about this clinic too!). From the beginning, it was a seamless experience. When I called for an appointment, I was absolutely clueless about what to do to get set up. The super nice and helpful receptionist took care of everything for me! She took my insurance info and got the necessary authorizations from my insurance. (It was the last thing I wanted to deal with after being injured). I really appreciated how honest and transparent they were. All of their policies and procedures at the clinic were clearly laid out at the beginning so there were no grey areas. We discussed my treatment plan and how many sessions I would need for my rehab. They set the expectations with me upfront so I knew what to expect. They even helped me get more PT sessions approved with my insurance. That was a huge help! I worked with Cindy and I cannot say enough great things about her! She is so smart, kind, and fun to work with. I don't dread PT like I thought I would. As a matter of fact, I've learned to look forward to my PT sessions with Cindy. She has been pivotal in my post surgery rehab for my knee and I cannot thank her enough! I absolutely loved my massage! My therapist was able to target exactly what I needed for my pain. I love coming to get treatment here. I had another referral to take care of another issue I was having and I loved that they went out of their way to make sure I got my insurance transferred over. Jove- he's amazing for my shoulder. I absolutely love the way he's able to give me variations of exercises and his way of breaking down my calf muscles is exactly what I've seen in YouTube videos. He is always trying new exercises with me and I love how innovative he is. I request to get seen by him on ALL my appointments. He actually listens to you and makes the session help exactly what you need. If I can have him give me PT for the rest of my life, I would sign the dotted line for Action Rehab to take my money. I would 1,000% recommend Cindy at Action Rehab. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I am fortunate enough to have Cindy as my PT after a major shoulder surgery (labrum tear, SLAP tear, and bicep tendon repair). I love this place and would recommend it for any of my family and friends. A piece of unsolicited advice when you are choosing a PT - all PTs are not all created equally. Remember - you only have limited PT approved through your insurance. In my case, 8 sessions last year and 8 sessions this year, with additional sessions requiring more auth from my insurance. These sessions are so valuable so don't waste any of them on a sub-par PT clinic. That is the difference between you healing or staying in pain. What I appreciate the most about Action Rehab: 1. Very comfortable environment - whether you are young, old, recovering from surgery, need a fine tune up, I always look coming to PT here because there's just GOOD VIBES all around. You can tell the staff here is happy :). That makes a big difference when you are in pain and trying to heal. I look forward to coming to therapy every time. 2. Very knowledgeable and experienced staff - I'm a pretty serious post-op surgical case. I have worked with Cindy mostly and pushes me as far as my body and mind is willing to go...and then some more. It's just the right amount of gentleness and tough love. And I am confident with her guidance I will be back to surfing in no time. (The population here ranges from post-surgical, athletes, weekend warriors, little old aunties, young men, etc) 3. Front staff is very helpful and friendly - After my surgery, Teresa handled all my insurance stuff and made sure I was pre-authorized before coming in. She's very on top of it. It made my life so much easier! 4. Easy parking & centrally located in Kakaako right off of Ala Moana Blvd. They have their own parking lot so no need to drive around looking for parking. 5. Mom went to action rehab once a week for a few months to try to build her leg and back strength. The therapist are very patient and caring. They are in a great location in town close to where Sports Authority used to be. There is a parking lot directly in front of the building which makes access very easy. However because it is a small parking lot, there is no handicap parking which is somewhat unusual for a rehab place, you would think they would have extra wide parking for the people that need to open their doors wide or need the use of a walker or wheelchair but I'm sure that's probably on the building management side not within Action Rehab's control. Once you have your appointments made, be sure to get a printout from the receptionist to confirm all your appointments. Definitely recommended for old and young alike. read more

I normally hesitate when writing a poor review and I have never given a one- star review but I believe that everyone should be informed about this place. I gave them one star for the following reasons: 1. My wife and I have gone to 3 appointments in 3 weeks for a broken ankle and we were told on our last appointment that they did not receive any instructions from our doctor about what treatment plan she should follow even though we asked questions at every appointment concerning her progression through physical therapy. 2. We were told we were not alowed to sit in the waiting room even though it was empty and would have to wait in our hot car due to covid restrictions. We were told this in mid-June of 2021 after most restrictions were lifted 3. There is a sign in their waiting room that states the bathrooms are closed due to Covid. We later found out that its really open but the staff doesn't want to clean the restroom after every use so they closed it. 4. The facility does not have a handicapped accessible automatic door opener so patients are left to fend for themselves. 5. The entrance door does not work correctly and slams behind you causing people on crutches the possibility of tripping and falling. When we informed the management about the door problems, they just blamed Howard Hughes property management without taking responsibility for the safety concerns. 6. When we complained to the staff about our problems, they immediately called our Dr. and told him that we canceled all of our upcoming appointments without our permission. 7. The clinic communicated with our Dr. staff without giving us any prior notice and lied to us on the phone about when they contacted him. Clearly everyone can do better than Action Rehab read more

I have gone to Action Rehab many times over the years for multiple back injuries, a knee injury, a shoulder injury and currently for a calf tear (what can I say - I live a charmed life - LOL!). I simply can't say enough about the expert and friendly care I receive at Action Rehab. They are true "Body Whisperers"! It's amazing how quickly they rid me of my physical ailments and get me back in action! Must be why they're called, "Action Rehab". :-) Their facility is clean, spacious, decked out in cutting edge equipment, and the atmosphere is contagiously positive, inspirational and fun! I really do love these guys, and I always look forward to seeing them during my appointments. It's exactly the type of atmosphere you want/need when you're dealing with the pain and frustration a physical injury can cause. The staff at Action Rehab are great! Everyone is very pleasant and provides excellent care. I was referred for ongoing shoulder pain and they (Cindy) did a great job. Therapy improved my comfort somewhat, but I eventually had to get surgery and am now in a more specific rehabilitation. My shoulder is getting better and I don't dread going in 3 times a week. I think I should be surfing again in after 2-3 weeks, but neither the doctor nor the physical therapists agree. What do they know? LOL Definitely recommend Action Rehab for sports injuries and even a good massage! Tanya is awesome and I hear Barri does great work too. read more

I've been to Action Rehab several times over the years and I would never go anywhere else. Bre and Cindy are the best, and the other physical therapists there seem to be great too. They really care about making you better. They have patients almost every hour yet they make you feel like you're the only person they'll see the whole day. My boyfriend works in the area so met people who work here prior to an accident in the beginning of the year. When he learned he needed therapy for his knee, he chose to come here. I drove him to the first few therapy sessions. The staff was great. Cindy was the first person he saw, and she was awesome! Made us both feel comfortable, and was very helpful in teaching us what to do at home between sessions to help recovery. He ended up having to change schedules, so now he sees different people. The place is nice (neat and clean), and when you walk in, you can see most of the space where people workout. What's nice to see is that aside from pain they feel from their injury, they are smiling! Sorry I didn't review sooner, I've gone to Action Rehab for a number of injuries or problems. One was a pain in the elbow while I was working out in the gym, tricep scull crushers, and the other was a knee pain while squatting, oh and then there was the shoulder pain, impingement problem. The staff was friendly and quick when scheduling future appointments. I saw Cindy and Adrianne mostly, and every time I went to see them I found myself laughing and talking story a lot, which made the whole experience enjoyable. Both Adrianne and Cindy would massage the muscles before strengthening exercises, and because I had so much tightness in the muscles, it was painful. WOW these girls are good at pressure and technique, and although really painful, it was always better after every visit. They also do physio-tape techniques, and tons of cool PT toys to get you back to 100% Highly recommend this group and they are close to downtown, so it was convenient for me. read more

This is my second time around at Action Rehab. I advised my workman's comp doctor to refer me only to Action Rehab, that's how good they are! Athena, the receptionist is amazing! She's incredibly organized, helpful, friendly and sweet. She definitely sets the atmosphere when you step into the building. All of the staff are friendly and so knowledgeable. Dr. Lisa is my guiding light in recovery. She answers all my questions and has offered helpful hints and handouts to take home. I appreciate her expertise and am so grateful to be in her care. I feel I could not be in better hands! Juna has been also an incredible asset to Action Rehab. She is so caring and helpful. I had shoulder surgery on both side and tried many different rehab clinics but to no avail. Most rehab clinics were very passive and could not help me at all...was referred to ACTION REHAB by my surgeon, Dr. Sidney Smith, an excellent physician, most highly recommended!!!! ACTION is very professional, great staff, and the most important thing is that they get RESULTS!!! Melodee Young and Barri Saribay are just the best therapists around. I highly recommend Action Rehab and specifically Adrienne, Barry, and Nelly. The entire team has been very professional and able to help me overcome intense pain and complications in my third trimester of pregnancy. After suffering for about a month with intense pain in my groin and lower back my OB wrote me a referral for Physical Therapy. I am now a few weeks away from delivering my baby and am confident that my twice a week visits, along with my home exercises have helped me tremendously. The team has not only helped to reduce the pain but also strengthened my body for birth. Action Rehab has a convenient location with free easy parking. The staff has filled me with knowledge during the visits and the clinic is clean. They also offer personal training and massage for maintaining good health after my injury next door at Pro Fitness. I would highly recommend Action Rehab to anyone who has a back injury. I injured my back twice last year and each time Action Rehab worked miracles. With my first back injury, I was told by others that I would just need to live with the pain and that the pain would be there everyday...but after going to Action rehab and by following the recommended exercise plan I was free of back pain after a couple of months. Later that same year I injured my ribs. I was in so much pain I could hardly move without pain---Again Action Rehab came to the rescue and within 2 months I was able to walk and get back to my routine without any pain. The massage therapy and exercise program that was recommended really helped to get me back to my normal routine that includes a 2 hour daily workout at the gym. I am truly grateful to the wonderful therapists at Action Rehab who got me back on my feet when I thought I'd never be able to do it. The positive attitude and atmosphere at the clinic and the friendly staff really helps to get one through the therapy and healing process. I highly recommend Action Rehab to anyone who is trying to recover from a back, shoulder, knee or foot injury. I agree with those who praise the staff for being friendly. And CIndy is one of the friendliest. My complaint begins with the fact that the staff cannot even operate the "Tens" machines -- or else the machines themselves are cheap quality -- followed by the shortage and overall quality of rooms. I went to see them for several months and on many, many occasions we had to wait (and almost fight) for a room, or else I was relegated to the tiny, tiny rooms close to the front office. Or else to the room where the AC is on too high. Plus, the gym is often too crowded and you are literally having to walk or limp between people who are working out and are themselves wobbly. Finally, their billing system sucks. They tell you that after insurance pays their bit, the patient pays $20. When the bill comes, you end up paying almost twice as much. They should tell you right away that you could very well be paying $35-40 dollars a visit. I don't like the sneakiness. And finally, though the staff is pleasant, they did not ultimately help the problem with my knee. Maybe there is no better in Honolulu, but fair warning: the best of the bad is not necessarily good. read more
