I've had a disappointing experience with the management at Action Pawn. There is a flagged note on my account that's preventing me from pawning firearms, and despite repeatedly asking for help or clarification, the managers have been unprofessional and unwilling to assist or explain how the note can be resolved or removed. I pawn rifles and guns regularly and have done business with multiple pawn shops, including Cash America, without any issues. However, because of this unexplained flag at Action Pawn, I'm now no longer allowed to pawn firearms there, and management refuses to offer any real support or solution. I understand policies exist, but customer service matters. Being shut down without clear answers or help is frustrating and unprofessional. I expected better communication and accountability from management. read more

STAY AWAY !! I bought a gun from here and found out it was broken . Roy rocha was very rude to me when I was explaining to him that they sold me a broken gun ! They did not tell me it was broken and Roy rocha was flirting with other customer while I was trying to talk to him ! terrible experience ! he is absolutely unprofessional ! I love shopping here! It is a superstore for pawnshops. First ever purchase was a handgun, and I've been coming back ever since. I've bought 3 Nintendo switches at reasonable prices. Pawned one and they gave me a fair loan amount. When I got it back it was in the exact same condition. Manager specials are clutch too with layaway. Staff is always willing to help. Also ignorance is not an excuse because you don't ask questions about their policies for layaway and loans. Don't believe the bad reviews they are a BUSINESS after all. read more

Service depends alot on which employee you get, but lately every time i walk in, I am always greeted with a smile, and the employees are always working hard. You can not go in and expect a store this big, to have someone waiting on standby for every customer that walks in, but my wait time was short, and the merchandise i found was great. They always tend to get nice collectables in, and they have a wide variety of items. For its size, you would be surprised at just how much they fit in there. If you are looking for something in particular, they probably have it. I asked to test a game system, and they gladly helped out. They do have the typical rules such as restocking fees and stuff of the like, but if your diligent and stay on top of your purchases they will help out. Pawning is the same here, but when i picked up my items, they were in the same condition, wrapped really well, and were taken care of. I went in last week and pawned my brand new laptop for extra money. They gave me 250$ and I was fine with that. It was in there 2 weeks and I took it out. Yesterday I went to pawn it again and this time this guy came over he could see how much they had given me and went somewhere and came back. "Welcome to my Scam Shack" I was shopping for a watch the other day, and came across this pawn shop. Fairly large, lot of watches. And a 35 percent discount on all watches, except the high-end ones like Tags and Omegas. So, I had a good feeling about this place. Boy was I wrong. The lady who helped me out was friendly, and soon I found a 199 dollar Citizen watch I liked. Minus discount it was 129. That was a nice deal; I went for it. But at the register, this place showed it's ugly, true head. Unfortunately, this watch did not have a 35 percent discount. Ehhh, wait. Wasn't it all watches except the high end ones in the other cabinet, all priced over 700 dollars? Yes, that was true. But not this one. So I asked for the local manager. Enter Zack. Ruler of the Scam Shack. He explained that he "just could not do it". They had "to much money in it". They "were even losing money on it" and it "shouldn't have been in the cabinet with all the regular watches". Yeah right. I just happened to stumble across the only Citizen watch that should have been in the cabinet with all the high end watches priced over three times as much. And pigs do fly. I saw all the negative reviews... was about to leave one myself... I'm out of town and have been trying to call these guys for the last 3 days!!! Every time I called it just rang and rang, then a couple time someone picked up and put me on hold, but after 20 min of being on hold I just hang up cause obviously I have been forgotten about.... So that aspect is terrible!!! However, once I did get through I immediately asked for a manger. My due date was 3 days ago and I had not realized it... I explained that I was out of town and would be back tomorrow, so if they could please hold my item til then without selling it off (which they have every right to do), the Manager Mario said YES he can do that for me and i was extremely grateful!! So I'd say 0 STARS for reliability, 2 STARS for regular employees, but 5 STARS if your lucky like me and get a Manager who is willing to work with you. This Manager MARIO accommodated me, however, there are plenty of other managers and employees working there who will no doubt treat you like garbage and make you regret ever taking your business there. If your lucky and get to deal with someone like Mario then great!!... but if you get one of the other morons that work there, they will try and make things hard for you on purpose, most likely cause their mad at their own lives, that their making $9/hr at a pawn shop and they absolutely hate being there, so theyll take it out on you the customer. My advice would be go to one of the smaller MOM&POP type stores if you need a loan.. they always work with you and they don't treat you like your bothering them. read more

Pawn shops always give me mixed emotions. On one hand, I know that most of the stuff in the store is there only because someone desperately needed some quick money--the whole place reeks of misery and broken dreams. But on the other hand, there are some great bargains to be had. I don't go to pawn shops very often, but when I do, this is the one I choose. This shop has recently relocated into a large building right behind where the old store was located. This new facility is clean, bright and well organized. I have been interested primarily in the musical instrument department, which is excellent. This store features what I believe is the widest selection of good-quality used instruments outside of Spacetone Music. And their variety of amplifiers is spectacular. A few months ago I helped a friend pick up a Squier Stratocaster and a Yamaha bass here for a very reasonable price. And then yesterday I hit the jackpot: a 2010 Fender Rumble 15 bass amp (retail $99.99) for just $40! Amazingly, the amp still had all the original store stickers on it--right down to the clear plastic on the Fender badge. The amp was dusty, but it looked like it had never been played! I also noticed lots of brand-new amps from Behringer and Blackstar at decent prices. The rest of the shop features pretty much everything you could want, from tools to guns to jewelry. Whenever anyone asks about pawn shops, this is always the one I recommend. Give 'em a try! read more

I brought in a guitar pedal worth around $160 used (Boss RC2 Loop station) and the guy immediately offered a low $40 and when I said no way, he said he had several of these on his shelf at his "other store" for $40. Needless to say he didn't answer when I asked where that was and offered to buy those pedals. (that's $100 profit on each pedal!) Also they have a giant advertisement claiming you'll "never pay retail" at action pawn, and I've never seen a pawn shop overprice their USED goods like this one, their prices are ABSOLUTELY retail if not MORE because of the fact that they are used products. They take advantage of people down on their luck, find a mom and pop pawn shop if possible, these guys only care about scraping every penny from your pocket! read more

I took several pieces of "silver" to sell, was told they don't buy any silver except James Avery. But I asked if they would check it to ensure it was in fact silver. A girl "checked" all the merchandise and told me ALL of it was in fact silver. I took it to the HEB Alon a store in there that buys gold and silver. I called before I went and they said "sure we take that of course we would have to see the condition but we will pawn on it" so I took it down there to be told that no they don't pawn on the item that I was trying to pawn. Typical pawn shop staff. Rude and monosyllabic. As a guitar and guitar pedal collector, I always go to pawn shops looking for gear. It's incredibly rare to find something good. Which is why I keep searching. And like every other pawn shop ever, this location's musical selection, while huge, is 99% pure junk. I did find 2 MIM Fender Strats. One black for $269 and one pearl for $369. Both need at least $250 in work to make them playable. The black one had skunk strip separation on the neck. The tone controls didn't work. Scratchy volume pot. The nut was being held down by the strings. The pearl Strat needs a serious pot cleaning. As well as new saddles, tuners and selector switch. I think the truss rod was rattling as well. I offered $500 for both and tried to explain to the manager what was wrong with the guitars. Truthfully, both guitars were maybe worth $325, but i was willing to overpay a bit, do the work and make them sing. The best he would do is tax free on the black Strat. I told him they were completely overpriced and not worth what they were charging. Of course, this produced the typical, "it's worth it if you pay for it" response. There's an well reasoned thought. The idiot tried to tell me how awesome these guitar are. They would be awesome at a fair price and a lot of work. He had to go with what his "experts" say. I've got news for you, fella. Your experts are obviously as stupid as you are. If they knew the first thing about gear, they wouldn't be working in a pawn shop. I thought pawn shops wanted to make money. Not turn down offers on something that will sit on the wall until some other idiot is willing to pay sticker price. Which is about 110% too much! At which point they will be returned because they are unplayable and won't stay in tune. I also got a laugh out of the "never pay retail" signs. I've seen most of their brand new gear cheaper on eBay, Sam Ash, Guitar Center, Alamo Music, etc. Also, a note to parents buying orchestra/band equipment for their kids. DO NOT buy from pawn shops!! Go to Alamo Music for that kind of stuff. It's reasonably priced and they actually have knowledgable musicians to help. Not high school flunkies who have reached their proverbial glass ceiling working at a pawn shop.
