The owner of the company is extremely rude. He was driving while texting and almost hit me amd when I called to report a driver he started making up lies about vulgar words that had been said. All I said was get off your Phone. You shouldn't be texting amd driving anyway but to be a company driver amd to be texting while driving is highly unprofessional. I try not to talk poorly about local businesses, but nine times out of 10 anyone from the airport needs public transportation, action cab does not answer. Either they are choosing not to answer their phones during working hours or, when they do, they are unnecessarily rude. Public transportation is already limited in Grand Island, and I hate having to recommend these guys when they are so poorly run. read more

Very, very rude to customers. I don't appreciate being shouted at and called a liar when they fail to do their one damn job. You have ONE job! One damn job! Just pick people up when you say you will pick them up. I sat outside for a half an hour outside my work before I called to check if they had sent anyone out yet. This jerk on the phone not only lies about having sat outside my work for 15 minutes, but has the nerve to call ME the liar and make me very upset. Very unprofessional. I would rather walk home in the middle of the night than ever use their service again. If Uber or Lyft was out this late, they would get all my money. One of the employees at this agency even told me one time, after being an hour and a half late, that the nighttime dispatcher is always drunk, and that's how so many mistakes are made. I wouldn't want my co-workers drunk, and I definitely don't want my cab driver drunk! Would you?! Absolutely disgusting. read more

I visited Grand Island last summer on a Thursday night and needed a cab. There was only one cab company in town, not unexpected for a town of this size. I was staying at the Island Inn motel on S. Locust. At around 9:45pm I called Action Cab and spoke to a woman who did not seem to know at first where the Island Inn Motel was. She told me she'd notify dispatch and we went outside to wait. After half an hour I called back to ask what the ETA of our cab would be. This time a man answered and when I asked about our cab, he said I never called for one. I told him I had indeed, half an hour earlier. He told me that was impossible because he was the only person there and had been answering the phones all night. I said that I know for a fact that I called the same number because I had hit "redial" on my phone when I called this time. I told him I had spoken to a woman when I called before. He paused, then said, "Oh. Well, she didn't tell me." He asked me again where I was, and I repeated that I was at the Island Inn Motel. He did not know where that was located, so I had to walk over to the corner to see what intersection I was at. When I told him the intersection, he said he had a cab in that area that would be there "in just a couple of minutes". We continued waiting outside and after another 10 minutes a minivan with an "Action Cab" sign on the side pulled up to the corner we were standing at. We started walking toward it, and the driver pulled out into the street and drove away. We waited 10 more minutes, then finally decided that if we waited any longer the places we wanted to go would start closing. We gave up and drove downtown ourselves. (We didn't want to drive as we had planned to be out drinking, so now we had to scale back our plans.) It wasn't until I had been sitting down with a beer for about 10 minutes before they called me to see where I was. This was at least an hour after my first all. In a town where you can drive from one end to the other in 10 minutes, that's ridiculous. read more

Who gives 5 stars for a cab company. Nobody. But I do when it is this company. If I am sittin at Deano's Alibi and lookin at the sports page and wanna bet the ponies, I just call em up and even if they're busy they are all over town (at seemingly all hours) and come by quick. When I am sick of the ponies and call em up and they see me passed out on the side of the parkway heading into the racing course they throw me back in the cab (always one of those mini-vans, new and clean) and take me right home. Do not use Action Cab in Grand Island. They are unprofessional, rude, unresponsive, unreasonable and truly would not survive in Grand Island if it weren't for the few contracts it has and Uber/Lyft were more readily available in GI. My husband called for a cab around 2 o'clock to be picked up at 4:15 today at 5 points super saver to bring about 10 blocks home, not far but far to walk with groceries. As my husband walked outside with groceries and our 11 year old son in tow to wait for the cab, he noticed another person and after talking, the other guy stated he had called a cab as well. Shortly thereafter the cab driver pulled up and the other person started to rush towards it to cut ahead of my husband. My husband called out and asked the guy what he was doing, the guy said it was his cab, my husband said no I called for a cab at this exact time for pickup, he asked if the guy wanted to share and he said no, the cab driver would not make eye contact with my husband on purpose because he clearly didn't want to get involved even though that's his LITERAL JOB, he didn't say a single word the entire time. After realizing this guy was a jerk and was not going to be a decent human being to get out of the cab that was not his, my husband called the other person a p*ick, NOT THE CAB DRIVER, the other person who stole the cab. So now my husband was forced to walk, with groceries and our son, home. On the way home he called the office to ask what that was about and, after not answering the phone multiple times, whoever finally answered brushed him off and started cussing AT MY HUSBAND. Once my husband got home and told me the story, I thought I might call and talk to a manager about the situation. I asked to speak with the manager who told me his name was Kurt and I'm fairly confident the driver was there as well as I could hear him in the background. After I had barely started to explain our side of events, he interrupts me to tell me that it wasn't even 4:15 (it was) and they get a 15 minutes window either way (what relevance that has is beyond me) and that my husband was cussing at the driver and once cussing starts they wont take it because next up is door slamming (even though my husband hadn't even touched the cab or made eye contact with the driver who overtly avoided doing so) and that they could ban us from the service. I said you don't have to worry about that because we won't be using your service ever again and he hung up on me. Now, if you didn't know, this "company" doesn't even take a name when you call to schedule a ride, we assume they might get the phone number from caller ID but other then that, it's just time and addresses for pick up/drop off. So in what reasonable world can they claim it was the other guys cab when the driver didn't even ask for names? When he clearly didn't want to get involved or try to remedy the situation as a responsible employee would do? There was nothing for them to definitely say it was the other guys cab, unless they knew each other personally and then it's favoritism which is no better than willful ignorance. We've had car troubles for the past week so we've been using this company on and off to get our son to and from school and hadn't had a problem, until today. They have no organization, no accountability, no care for the customer. I generally do not do this, especially after only 1 bad experience, but the lack of accountability or respect for the customer has left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. My husband didn't even care about having to walk home any more, it was the standoffish attitude and almost hatred for the customer from the manager Kurt when all we wanted was some explanations or accountability on the cab drivers end and more than what they had already given me. This whole stressful situation has caused me to write this. Judging from other reviews, this Kurt has been rude to so many people, including the elderly, disabled and women. Now a man and son. Seems like everyone else is the problem in their eyes and the common denominator, Action Cab, takes no responsibility and doesn't plan to. I've attempted to contact the owner and have heard nothing, which is not surprising considering the reviews of others who have done the same. Doesn't seem like this company can afford to keep banning customers just because they refuse to have any kind of organization and they hire drivers who choose not to get involved or do the right thing. We want nothing but literal basic customer service and some responsibility on the companies end. read more

I feel sorry for the great people of GI who are forced to use this monopoly cab "service" from lack of options. They are SEVERELY OVERPRICED and have made many I know and myself WAIT at least 45min IF THEY SHOW UP. I've personally been STOOD UP. After an hour of waiting, outside mid summer, I called back and the lady said "oops, I had you had you down I don't know what happened." *I encourage any aspiring cab services in this area to apply for the necessary business license(s) and restore the integrity of this city's cab services. read more

Filthy cabs, long wait times, cash only, bad drivers; worst cab company I've seen in years but unfortunately they're the only game in town.

By far the worst cab experience I have ever had! When I first called Action Cab at 5pm on Thursday to reserve a pick up for 5am the following morning, the lady first told me to call back in 5 minutes that she had to see if she had a driver. Understandable for a small town but any business with etiquette would have taken a name and number and called the customer back. 10 minutes go by, and I call back and she said "yes" they do have a driver that will pick up at the hotel 5am the following morning for a drop off at the airport. Knowing that we have to go to the airport you think they would be punctual and on-time with their pick up? Waiting...and waiting. After about 10 minutes after our pick up time, we call for them to say that the driver is on the way. 10, 20 minutes later our driver is still not there. Mind you, we have a flight to catch. About 30 minutes after our "reserved" pick up time the driver shows up at the hotel. First off he does not stop under the car port at the hotel like any normal cab driver would have done, but he parks in a parking spot where we literally are running to the van. The driver does not get out of the van to help us load our bag. At this point we are RUSHING! Standing by the van waiting for the driver to unlock the van, with he obviously has no clue how to do. By the time he gets it unlocked and we literally throw our bags in, he's just now getting out to help us with our bags I'm assuming. We jump into the filthy van that smells of BO & cigarettes. The windshield wipers are going nuts, it is not raining outside. The A/C is FULL blast, and it's about 40 degrees outside. And our fool of a driver who looks like something out of the hills have eyes, has no clue how to turn them off. After all this excitement, the moron gets us to the airport to late and we miss our flight. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE USE THIS CAB CO.!!!!!!!!! read more

I have been using this cab company for over 7 years. This used to be a good company but it has gone downhill fast. The one driver, Curtis, is also a manager and he is rude, consistently tardy for time calls, and unapologetic about it when it happens. I am currently waiting on them even though I had a scheduled time call; something that only happens with this one driver. Main problem with that is he is also the manager. I called the owners and nothing gets done. Write a letter and nothing gets done. They downright ignore customers who keep this business afloat. I am very tempted to open my own taxi service in this town just to give people options because action cab has gone downhill with Curtis as the manager. read more

This is the worst cab company I have ever dealt with. I am from Chicago and have taken many cabs from different companies in Chicago, Kansas, and Las Vegas. This was my worst experience. When I called the company the dispatcher was very rude and while I was asking questions said he had another call and hung up on me! They need some competition so they lose their business. read more
