I should have known by his wet noodle handshake with no eye contact whatsoever. Michael Collins, my…read morelawyer at Cain and Herren, was not trustworthy. Michael, who looks to have just graduated high school, made over 30 mistakes on my case. BAD mistakes. But much worse than that, he chronically over-billed me for 2 years, to the tune of many, many thousands of dollars. (3 hours billed to type a paragraph? Really?) When it finally became to much to bear, I asked to do a thorough accounting of my billing. I was told that everyone just went home sick and no one could talk to me. The next day they withdrew as my attorneys. I talked to Michael and he ADMITTED he had over-billed me $10k+, and I RECORDED IT! Here is some transcript from our trial. (ME) Q. "And what did you say when I accused you?" (MICHAEL COLLINS) A. "I said, Jason, I'm willing to admit that some of the billing may have been overbilling, but I expected you to pay it." OVERBILLING IS STEALING. Micheal was awful to deal with. He is condescending and smug and completely lacks integrity. I called David Cain FOUR separate times, to discuss the chronic over-billing and mistakes. He never returned my call. Not once. These low-lifes have the nerve to call themselves "The Lawyers with Heart'" More appropriate would be "The rat-bastard lawyers that make you realize why people hate lawyers!" UPDATE: Apparently Michael Collins has been disbarred "The court found "sufficient evidence in the record to demonstrate that Collins has committed multiple violations of the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct and poses a substantial threat of serious harm to the public," according to a news release from the Office of Disciplinary Counsel."

She was very successful in helping us through a very emotionally charged family real estate dispute which we believe was very equitable and reasonable for both sides. She doesn't just work 9-5. She worked through the night with us 6 time zones away on the mainland with emails and phone calls when it got to the 11th hour of the settlement. Her charges are very reasonable, her advise even more valuable. Our case was more about real estate but I believe she is well versed in all aspects of the law. Valentina is absolutely the best choice to represent you anywhere. GM

From the beginning, Brianne was very clear on what our objectives would be and what steps would be taken to accomplish them. I immediately felt reassured that I had an ally who respected my goals and was on my side. Divorce can obviously be a source of conflict between the spouses, but Brianne was able to work with my ex's attorney to smooth the negotiations and minimize the negatives. She combines her knowledge and experience with caring and intuition. After all was said and done, I felt very fortunate to have selected Brianne to represent me.

However 2 days after my post, "Jessica O" did post a review almost in direct response to my initial one. This post seems suspicious given it's timing, content, and "Jessica O" has no other Yelp posts or Yelp Friends. Unfortunately this is fairly common practice for restaurants, salons, etc even though it dilutes the integrity of the Yelp platform. It's a bit surprising that this type of behavior would also come from a legal entity. Admittedly, this does feel a bit petty to point out, but I initially used Yelp to decide to work with the Wong Leong Cuccia office. I trusted the existing posts to choose a lawyer, but I wasn't thoroughly vetting each review. This platform is meant to help us see past a company's own branding/marketing/sales material so that we get a genuine sense of how business was actually conducted with other customers. Maybe Jessica O is a real person, but its suspect that the review was not written without some sort of incentive from the legal office directly.... or potentially from someone internally.

The reason it's important that I mention that is because I want to make sure anyone that reads this, understands my credibility and reputation on this island and my education to make a credible Yelp review. Its important for me to try and help as many people that are looking into using Mrs. Lowenthall here on Maui...and for you guys to understand when I write, I'm writing from the heart. I have done my research and due diligence on reading ALL Google & Yelp reviews from EVERY lawyer here in Maui, that would take a CHILD CUSTODY/FAMILY case. Everyone has their experience. This is my personal experience....and my personal experience with Mrs. Lowenthall is nothing less than exemplary and professional. My current situation with my case with my son is terrible and I'm bummed out. But when you have someone like Erin who takes the time to go above and beyond to help in a very severe case such as mine, you get a warm heart felt feeling that Erin with help you to the best of her ability to ensure you feel secure and safe with her services. Yes, lawyer's cost money, but when you put yourself in her shoe's and the time it takes her to read and study law, to read and understand the attention to details and the needed details to help you fight your case, and the service fee's it cost to serve someone and the paperwork that needs to be filed, then you can rest assure, your hard earned money is going to a hard earned credible Lawyer like Erin. This may read as a long rant or what not, but for those of you that are in need of reassurance in deciding witch lawyer to go with that fits YOUR CASE, for me, Erin came through when I needed it the most. Although my case did not make it to court, due to my estranged situation, but if you understood my case, and how she went above and beyond the call of her career calling, I would like to "think" you won't be disappointed and you too, will leave a credible Google & Yelp review to continue helping great lawyer's keep their jobs and overall, help you win your case. And in return, maybe one day you too will share your story and experience with Mrs. Lowenthall to help the people of Maui that are in need of a credible experience. Anytime I need a lawyer, I know to work hard, save my money and invest it into Mrs. Mrs. Lowenthall's law practice, and I have a lawyer for life. Mahalo nui loa Erin.
