ACS just worked a little miracle for me. I have my carpets cleaned every six months to a year. This time around, I'd let them go a year, and they looked it. Darkened traffic areas, and spots galore--including a bunch of red ones in my office. Based on all the positive Yelping, I called ACS. When David came to do my house, he made all of my carpet look like new. Except those red spots. I couldn't even remember where they came from. "Gonna have to have Rick look at that," he said, gravely. When David and Rick came back a few days later, Rick gave my spots a miracle treatment... something he told me involved a single oxygen cell. As he explained it, I quickly zoned out, as he was clearly getting into some very advanced chemistry. He went out to his truck, mixed up a magic fluid, then came back and sprayed the spots with said fluid. Then he put a damp cloth on top and a hot iron on top of that. After a few seconds, he lifted the iron and the cloth and voila! Spot had moved from the carpet to the cloth. Twas a miracle! It took a few rounds of treatment, but when he was done, no semblance of the offending red spots remained. He and David stayed quite awhile, and seemed in no incredible rush to leave. It was a great experience, and they'll definitely get my business next time. Though, from what I've read in the other reviews, that might be awhile. It sounds like the mysterious spots that seemed to magically reappear a few weeks after my old cleaning service left might not come back this time. And then there's the price. ACS charged substantially less than the big local franchise I've been using for years. All of these things add up to create one more very happy customer. read more

Yelp to the rescue once again! Very easy to schedule, came on time (and called ahead), donned booties upon entering the house, was very kind / courteous, and worked hard to clean our ducts. I used the services that Rick and ACS provides recently to clean my sofa and chair and I must say, they were superb! When I called to schedule the appointment, I was quoted one price but when he arrived and quoted me per piece, the total would have been $70 more, but he did the whole job for the quoted price. He was very thorough and I liked the fact they use "green"products since I have two cats. Here's the best part... As he was finishing up, he noticed that the carpet in our entry way was very soiled. I explained that we had recently moved in and the property manager had cleaned the carpets prior, but they got dirty again very quickly. He expalined why that would have happened and offered to clean the carpet in our entire entry way for an additional $20! I couldn't believe how dirty the carpet had gotten in just 1.5 months! My husband called ACS today in a panic after our cat had gotten sick all over our couch during the night (and on two carpets over the last few days). They called us back promptly and were able to send someone (Rick) out in about 2 hours time. When Rick arrived, he was friendly and courteous (waited to be invited in). I don't know how this place got so many 5 star reviews...maybe they were written by their friends. My husband called them to come and clean our carpets. First of all, they were 50 mins late. They were supposed to arrive at 1 pm, I called at 1:20 asking where they were and he wasn't apologetic or anything and simply said he left a message for someone saying he'd be late. He showed up 30 minutes after that. Again, when he did show up, he had an attitude about some mix up...no apologies again for being late. It was very hard to understand him because he just kept going on and on about updating something. I was just happy to finally see them at that point, so I had him come in. He went upstairs and saw that we had furniture in our rooms. He said he would clean around the furniture. Umm, no. I want all of my carpets cleaned, not just the parts that are visible. He claimed they had sent an email to my husband about that, which my husband never got. I know they are not furniture movers, but I would have paid extra for that service had I known since I am 8 months pregnant and can not move furniture and my husband was not home. I have hired another company to clean my carpets earlier this year. It's my first time to hire a company to clean carpets. Therefore, I didn't know anything about carpets. The other company came and did the job. We didn't talk much, and I, of course, didn't learn much. There is one area rug that they were not able to remove the stains. So, even after cleaning, there were some grey dots all over the rug. In comparison, Rick is the man when it comes to carpet cleaning. He is friendly, thorough, very professional, details oriented, he knows his job very well, he had tremendous knowledge about carpet materials, furniture materials, cleaning chemicals, spot dyeing, air duct cleaning etc etc. Rick help me to clean the area rug, and remove the stains. I just tried calling this company up to get a quote and possibly have them do my carpets, and apparently I wasn't a big enough job for them. I live in a small studio and as soon as she had that information her whole demeanor changed. She actually tried referring me to a different company entirely, which has never happened to me before. Usually people are honest and upfront about what they will and will not due, but I found this company's behavior unsettling and unethical. If I wanted another company I would have called another company. I merely tried to get information and a quote, but apparently my business wasn't worth the time because of the size of my home. ACS came over to clean our ducts recently, and boy were we pleased with the results. I have major allergies. When Rick first came over to clean the ducts, he identified duct problems that inhibited effective cleaning. He recommended another vendor for duct repair and told us to call him if he could help further. Once we had our ducts replaced, he came over to clean the vents. ACS was super clean (even their vacuum was spotless!), very professional and amazingly enthusiastic about cleaning our filthy vents. He even said he loves doing vent cleanings for cases like ours because you can really see the difference before and after. I've been using Rick for my employer's home in Palo Alto since 2003. He has always been reliable, trustworthy and honest (we can leave him alone in the house with no worries, if that tells you something). I've put in my share of demanding last minute calls and he has always come through for me. Most recently he had a set of outdoor chair cushions cleaned when I thought they were completely trashed. He then gave me a bunch of options to consider: taking to a specialist place that cleans at their facility, slip covers, re-upholstery or replacement. ACS was recommended to me by a friend of mine. I know that they are far away from me, so I appreciate Rick who drove a long way to come to my house!! Rick was on time and was very courteous. He was at my 2 story-house for over 4 hours. They charge $60 per vent now, but I think it is worth it, since I do not clean my vents every year and they really do get dirty. They charge half price for dryer vents if you are already doing the air vents. However, note that they can't do it if you dryer is on the 2nd floor (like mine). Also, they charge $75 for attic access. The receptionist did tell me these prices on the phone, so I was not surprised about the "disappointment" of the dryer vent, nor the extra charge for the attic. His system is a big vacuum that sucks in all the dirt out the system, it was not a stick that pokes around the vent area to get what it can. I would definitely recommend ACS to my friends, and I am not a relative of Rick. read more

Our air ducts hadn't been cleaned in about 7 years, and I was beginning to have some allergy symptoms at home. Within a few days of the air duct cleaning, I was symptom-free once again. I have 3 young kids and our family room badly needed a carpet cleaning. When I called, they were very courteous and attentive. Not to mention, they were able to fit me in the next day! Called to schedule their service after we had our kitchen remodeled. The operator was patient, explaining what their service does and about pricing. Rick was running late because of an accident on 101, but called in advance of the appointment time to let me know. Very professional to call in these situations. Once he arrived, he was upfront about what he needed to do and about the pricing, mirroring what I heard when I made the appointment. Great with our two dogs, too. We went around the house together and counted the number of vents twice, so there was no mistake. Very easy to talk to and answered my questions. He made recommendations on different filters, but no hard sell on any of them. He showed me what they pulled out, including several marbles, bits of metal, even a wire snipper our contractor had dropped in the vent. And lots of dust, dog hair, and bits of insulation! I actually became a yelp member today because of how nice my couch and carpets look. After nearly seven years of having a great micro-fiber couch, two babies later, 2 dogs and a cat, it was time to have the couch cleaned. Not kidding - it looks brand new. Rick spent hours and hours on it, methodically going through ever square inch until it looked perfect. His co-worker did an equally great job on the carpeting. The carpeting is barely a year old but he still got out every stain - including a serious red wine spill. Rick oversaw everything and made sure the job was complete. We just moved houses recently and we had Rick clean the carpets and air ducts in our new house. Rick is super-thorough, and we are very, very happy with the results. In fact, we were so happy, we turned around a few days later and also had Rick clean the carpets at our old house to get ready to put it on the market. One thing that we particularly appreciated was that Rick spent lots of time with us to go over his observations and findings. ok so that brings us to the rat. During the cleaning service on the new house, Rick discovered that the air intake area for our furnace was unsealed and open to a crawlspace in the house, completely with a dead rat! Rick cleaned the area out and also helped us get the entire thing sealed for a very reasonable charge. Since then the heater's been much more effective. As part of our move, we evaluated and worked with many different types of contractors over the past month or so, and we're very happy with most of them, but bringing Rick & ACS in to help was the single best decision we made out of the bunch. read more

I used ACS last November. They were fantastic. I called right before my Thanksgiving house guests arrived -- with very little expectations -- but ACS gave me an appointment within a few days. Rick and Virginia own the business. I spoke to Virginia on the phone and she was very pleasant and assured me of the company's quality and punctuality. Rick called shortly before our appt and apologized that he would be an hour late -- the earlier client wanted/needed more done (I think they added upholstery cleaning). I didn't mind the short delay and appreciated the notice. When Rick arrived, I told him I only wanted to do the downstairs and the stairs and he gave me an estimate. When he noticed that he omitted the powder room from the estimate, he said he would do it for free. I said that wasn't necessary (I don't expect people to do work for nothing) but he said it was his mistake and he would stand by his estimate. The work was fast and thorough. My carpets looked great afterwards and dried quickly. A wonderful surprise: There was a stain upstairs at the top of the stairs that I didn't expect ACS to do and I asked my husband to run our portable cleaner on it and he said ACS cleaned it. This is the best carpet cleaning service I've used and I will use them again. read more

I am a supporter of small businesses which is why I called ACS when winter was near however their lack of service disappointed me. The toll free number is most likely linked to a personal cell phone because the first time I called a frantic woman answered and finally realized it was a business call. She took a message and assured me someone will call back to schedule but that never happened. I called again and spoke to Victoria who again promised a call back to schedule but a few days passed and still no cal. Following that call I was not able to ever reach a live person again. I eventually went with Coit, a bigger and much better organized business. I hope ACS invests in a more organized scheduler because Victoria has lost valuable business. read more

I called ACS based on a friend's recommendation. Having never hired a professional cleaner before, I was afraid our carpet was beyond help. But Rick came out, was very pleasant and professional, and did an amazing job. What compelled me to write my first Yelp review ever, though, was what happened afterward. I inadvertently set something down on the still-wet carpet and left a black stain. When I called Rick freely admitting it was my error and asking what I could do to fix it, he graciously offered to come out again and re-clean the spot free of charge. First off, let me just say that I am one of those people that let my carpets go too long without a cleaning, way too long, OK, I admit it, it was over 10 years. But hey, the carpets were new when we moved in and I just didn't want to bother with damp carpets. Also, I was afraid that it may have been too late for any real improvement and I haven't had such great experiences with carpet cleaners in the past. Still I decided it was worth a shot after seeing ACS's yelp reviews, so I gave them a call. Seriously, I am SO glad I did. I like that it's a small family owned business. Victoria was so gracious on the phone, and I was able to set up an appointment for the next week. When I met Rick, he seemed fair and honest and took a lot of time to help me decide how to proceed (I had some area rugs as well and wasn't sure the best way to clean them. After talking to Rick, I decided to have him clean one of them in a bedroom and send the other two out, he does offer referrals for this) His estimate was based only on the square footage he would clean, and did not include any areas that were covered by heavy furniture, which I appreciated, since they didn't need cleaning anyway. The estimate seemed fair and I decided to let him go ahead. Then he went to work and I do mean WORK! One thing I have realized is that the skill of the person doing the work has everything to do with how clean your carpets get. Doing it right takes a lot of strength and a willingness to use it. Anyone can do a cursory job, but Rick worked very hard to make sure that my carpets were cleaned thoroughly. All I can say is that they look amazing! As I write this review a few days later, I still can't believe how clean they are. The worst room was our office, because we spend so much time there and even that looks great! OK, the rugs were a little damp for a day, but that's to be expected. Rick gave us plenty of booties and by the next day they were almost completely dry. (A warm day helps with that.) Also, the products he uses are "green" and even though I'm not entirely sure what that means, I will say that many years ago I had gotten a rash after having my carpets cleaned and this time, I had no problems at all. Whatever he used also left the house smelling nice and the carpets feeling soft. I am a very, very happy customer and am adding my praise to all the other good reviews. read more
