In this review I will be critiquing all aspects that I can think of: Atmosphere, Food, and Service.
-Atmosphere: I do want to commend the place for having a very clean environment as far as the tables and chairs. It's nice to see a restaurant that cares about it's cleanliness for their guests. WIth that being said, it does have a sort of neutral classy/romantic look to it by having grey walls and brown tables, mixed with a bit of white walls and some browns and greens. The only real colors I noticed were from scattered green plants and minimal gold trim around the center walls and a few gold railings. I definitely think it could use some colored accents such as tan, yellow, red or even blue to bring some happiness to the place because from what I saw it was looking a little glum. When I research other locations of this place, the interior is bright with white's, oranges and blues and is a lot more inviting, so I don't know why this place is so dark. Unless it's either an old look and they plan on changing, or if it's a new look and other locations have not renovated yet. I hope they change their color scheme because I think it will really help.
-Bathroom: A lot more inviting as far as the contrasting colors of half the walls being white and half the walls being tan, with the stalls being a forest green. The texture of the walls were kind of strange, like an unfinished spackle job with a scraping appearance. It seemed a bit odd.
-The service was good. The waitress was friendly and knowledgable, but seemed a bit stressed and trying to rush things, and I could see why. She was literally the ONLY person as far as both taking care of the 7 tables that had guests, along with expediting of all the food from the serving counter. I guess I understand if that's what works for them, but working in a restaurant myself, that's enough for 2 positions to be held and not just for 1 person. They do have a hiring sign out front, and I do hope it's for one of those, but that's sort of ridiculous as far as what I was seeing.
-This is only a personal preference, but they only have pepsi products such as Pepsi, Sprite, Root Beer and Mr. Pibb. I wish they carried Sprite.
-Feta Cheese Bread: It was pretty good with the bread being cooked really well, but was just a bit salty for my taste and I could only finish 2 of the 6 pieces while my girlfriend ate the other 4.
-Sparta Pizza: The crust was cooked just right and as a whole it tastes good. On their own, the sausage was great but has a sort of burnt aftertaste to it. The salami was good to, but has an odd pepper flake taste to. The cheese tasted great, but there seemed to be an overabundance of it comparatively to the meats. The ratio of total toppings vs. the crust underneath seemed to be off, and although it's welcoming to have a generous portion of toppings on a pizza, it seemed to be too much to the point of the toppings drooping and easily falling off.
-The Marinara Sauce: Has a slight thickness to it which is nice, but the chunks of tomato are a little too big to where I have to spread it on top of the bread slices instead of being able to dun it.
-The menu size is a full 3 page folder with a great variety of foods that include pasta, pizza, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and desserts.
In the entirety of my first visit, it was a pretty good experience, and although there were a few negative aspects regarding it, I wouldn't mind going back to try some of their other dishes. read more
