It was as fabulous as the first time, I am told, just months before. The Greek food was well prepared and beautifully served. Everything was hot and spiced according. We could find no fault; water, wine, coffee, crusty bread, etc. were constantly filled. Desert was offered. The usual awesome Greek delicacies! The presentation was Perfect and of course delicious! Pretty soon we were exchanging bites of the delicious, different deserts. It is well priced not over the top expensive! I can highly recommend it. Is casual and the food and service are memorable! First of all, the restaurant is in the 112th Street Diner (the place is home to 3 different restaurants--a diner, an Italian place, and Ephesus). We walked in and had to stand there for several minutes before being acknowledged. (There was only one other party in the restaurant at the time). We ordered our food and drinks after sorting out the confusion about the restaurant's identity crisis. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. No drinks came for 20 minutes--not even water, not even silverware. And we by that time we were the only customers left in the restaurant. Then our server tried to serve us an already opened bottle of wine when we had ordered a full bottle. Uh, what? Finally, after 25 minutes, we had enough. We gave $5 for the Sprite (the only drink we were served) and left and told them we won't be back. I will be surprised if this place lasts the year. They didn't even have any music playing. It really was so much worse than this review can do justice. Inept is an understatement. Our server ignored us for 15 minutes , then when we got his attention, and he tried to serve us wine, he didn't even know how to open up a bottle of wine. It was really sad and clueless. My wife said "Are we on Candid Camera?!" Avoid avoid avoid! At all costs.

There weren't many dog friendly restaurants conveniently off the freeway, but luckily Yelp led us to Kate's Greek and American! We arrived for Sunday brunch and were immediately greeted by our kind waitress. We sat outside where they had a few tables with umbrellas. When I did come inside it appeared somewhat spacious and busy with neighborhood folks. There are also menus and signs posted with their specials. Service was so lovely, our waitress took wonderful care of us and my pup. She also has pugs so it was nice to hear about that and her recommendations for our visit. It's homestyle cooking--and if feels and tastes like it! I had the Franko Scramble which they were kind enough to substitute spinach for the cheese at no additional cost. The scramble was good and tasted like what you'd expect. The hashbrowns that came with it were huge, thick, soft, and slightly crispy. My family and I ate and enjoyed our dishes. The portions were massive, especially for the price. We're happy we could kick off our trip in Washington with a delicious brunch at Kate's! It's truly a neighborhood gem with many diners coming in from town to eat. The restaurant is off Colby Ave. with street parking all around.
