This company is terrible, they also go by the name Yellowstone. This place is responsible for the maintenance to the property adjacent to mine and they haven't mowed in 4 weeks. previous to this it took 5 weeks for them to mow and only did it after i called and complained. obviously, they feel if you can't see it from the street, they don't need to maintain it. They should not be allowed to call themselves professional landscapers the 10-year-old kid down the street does twice as good a job as they do! read more

These guys blow at snow removal. There's no way around it, no sugar coating it. From these other reviews, it seems Acres Group mostly holds contracts with HOAs like they do for my townhome. They must be the cheapest, because no one would want to hire them based on the quality of the work they do. If it snows overnight, they'll show up around 4PM the next day to start clearing snow. I've left for work with my driveway unplowed and returned home to find it still not plowed. Rather than using a skid loader to pull snow away from garage doors, they just take their pickup trucks and drive sideways across multiple driveways, ripping up grass in between all the way down to bare mud. Every spring the grass is not just dead, it's gone, and the lawn needs to be re-seeded. This is probably intentional, because then they get to charge for that work too. They might have a couple guys make a half-hearted attempt at shoveling, but they still don't come close to actually clearing driveways or sidewalks. I've attached photos that show the job they did. You can see the thick layer of ice they left behind. I had to follow up with a shovel not ten minutes after they left. Unacceptable! This is the worst landscaping company I've dealt with. Their work is incredibly sloppy and careless. The landscapers cannot operate a mower without tearing up sections of my lawn, each and every time they cut. They cannot cut bushes in a uniform manner. They cannot operate an edger with any consistency. Their so-called "spring cleaning" is a complete joke. They seem to forget that there is more than one area needing patching of new grass. The winter snow removal is another ridiculous joke. They use bobcats to remove snow from relatively small driveways. Their carelessness causes large mounds of dug up dirt/mud and snow. The day laborers don't seem to understand how a shovel works and where snow needs shoveling. I have made numerous complaints to their manage, Mr. Denny Schwantz. His initial response is always "not our fault, but we'll fix it anyway". I do not recommend Acres Group whatsoever. There are far better landscaping companies within the northwest suburban area that do wonderful work. read more

My issues with this company began about 4 years ago when they had a contract with my town for tree replacement in the parkway of our street. They offered residents to have trees planted on their property for a discounted price. The problems began at the onset with the staff that came to plant the tree. He arrived earlier than he was suppose to and planted the tree about 4 feet from where I wanted it. While doing so, he cut a line and I had to subsequently have ComEd and Nicor come out to assess the damage. Fortuantely there was not any major damage (however, I still have an orange cable sticking out of my ground). After several communications with the account manager (Jeff Dumas), he reluctantly agreed to take half off the price. He was not apologetic or easy to work with; one of those awful business people who make excuses every step of the way. This tree never flourished and last year, an entire half died and I had to trim the dead branches so they wouldn't fall on my pet. The remainder of the year, I had half of tree. Now, the one in the parkway never flourished either. It did not grow and what should be young lush leaves look old and wilted. This year, there are twigs with buds, and crinkled up brown leaves. I called Jeff Dumas again to let him know that I was willing to overlook one bad product and delivery of that product into my ground, but two bad trees totally reflect the poor quality they delivered. Again, he became augmentative and reminded me the warranty only lasted 2 years. I think a tree that does not grow in 4 years and subsequently does not yield any leaves speaks volumes for their product. Please beware of this company. Not only will you get substandard products, but the staff; or at least Jeff Dumas, will argue with you and not stand behind their product. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with one bad tree, but two...c'mon. That speaks volumes to their substandard product and poor customer service to boot. I wish I could give them negative one star. read more

Our condo association uses this group and I hope it will be the last winter season that we will have them. For the past two major snow storms that we have had this season in 2018, the snow plow trucks arrived late and many owners in our condo building were stuck in our parking lot because it wasn't plowed. We are paying for a service that we are not receiving. Unacceptable service and very disappointed. I will not recommend for anyone to hire them. All other neighborhood condo buildings have plowed pavements and clear pavements except for our parking lot. read more

I live in Addison in an association, and I am beyond ticked off at this point. Haven't put down mulch in years, so there's just dirt essentially. They blow grass all over my porch / miss spots on the walkway and miss patches of grass mowing every time. They have not trimmed bushes or maintained the garden areas. Snow removal was good when it was done. However, they would not come unless there was at least two inches of snow... They're cheap, do a half ass job and the owner clearly doesn't care and is all about the money. Overall, I hate this company based on the above. Horrible... read more

My condo assoc uses these guys. They have managed to kill my grass two times this year, and the same for other neighbors. They constantly run the rider mower over newly seeded grass, and set the mower far too low for long grass (in those weeks this summer we had a lot of rain) and destroy lawns. Careless work. They redid a section of our common grounds as well and half the bushes are already dead. Let's see if the replace them. read more

This is a terrible, TERRIBLE landscaping company. I wish I could give negative stars. Our builder chose it for landscaping for the community (they were probably the cheapest bid) so we didn't have a choice. We've had nothing but problems with them. When they seeded the grass in our backyard, they did it right before the snows came in and everything ended up washing away, leaving tons of room for weeds. We're using weed killers but it's working very slowly, and we'll likely be dealing with the weed issue for years. In the front yard, almost nothing is installed the way it was agreed on in the design plan. The flowers were the wrong color (we paid for colors that we didn't get), and a lot of them were in the wrong spots. When we asked them to be moved, they just shoved it where convenient. I guess I can't assume that as landscapers they'd know that putting it in a place of permanent shade is a bad idea, eh? At this point I am resigned to the fact that next year I will have to pay a landscaper who knows what they're doing to fix a lot of the damage that Acres did. Customer service is terrible, they take 1+ months (with a lot of pings) to respond to emails, and they're extremely rude. If you have any, any choice at all, stay away from them, you'll be cursing yourself for months, if not years for dealing with them. read more

I have had them do irrigation work, planting, and even remove some pretty big trees along with all of my general landscape maintenance needs. Our Condo Association uses Acres Group to do our Lawn Care and Snow Removal. Acres uses all sorts of equipment throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall months (i.e. lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, edgers, etc.) to care for everything. The shrubs in front of my unit had become over grown in a span of 5 years after not being properly cared for. Not once had they been trimmed or pruned. I had emailed our Association Manager more times than I can count about this issue. Acres Group finally came out and 'trimmed' them down this year and all that is left is dead branches. The front of my unit looks like trash. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it or I'll be charged additional fees ($50 + per each) by my Association for planting new / nicer plants. Acres Group failed over a 5 year period to trim and prune these shrubs each year to ensure that they would not get out of hand and become overgrown. Now they just look terrible! This same company ended up breaking one of my windows and they found several nice ways of telling me that they won't ever pay to replace it. They came in this past Fall to prep for Winter. When I got home from work there were grass cutting everywhere (as they had not cleaned up after themselves) and my office window was broken. After a little inspection I found a grass stained piece of concrete (most likely crumbled off of my upstairs neighbor's porch) the size of a walnut under my window. I contacted Acres Group immediately with complete details of what happened as well as photos of the window and surrounding area. I received an email response asking when I would be available for them to stop by. I informed them that I get home from work M-F at 6:30pm and anytime on the weekends would be good. They stated that they were only available M-F during business hours... They made no attempt to make an exception for this incident. They claimed that they came out to my location the following day and that there was no way any of their equipment could have caused the damage. I respectfully sent another claim in response and again they denied that there was any way that they could have caused the damage. There was nothing else anywhere near mine or my neighbor's areas that day! They provide snow removal service in the winter as well. Unfortunately, I have an end parking space. My space is continuously plowed under (last year in particular it was over 8' deep). They usually don't show up until long after we've left for work (2 or 3:00pm). There were a few times that I was able to catch them last year when they actually came out for some extra visits with all the snow. I kindly asked (begged even) that they remove the snow from the end parking spaces so we wouldn't have to park in the street. Parking in the street just pisses off the city workers, and then they plow us into the curb. They guy in the truck would make 5 of the guys go over and hand shovel my spot out. To my dismay, they would never really get enough snow out to fit my car into my space! I highly recommend that you find a different company to work with if you want quality service! read more

not sure how this company still has so many contracts with associations etc. They are the worst at everything. Their landscaping is horrible and don't even get my started on the snow removal. Great job not coming back and cleaning the driveways to the garages after our snow last night...it is nice and packed down now. Maybe someone will slip on the ice and sue you! I thought a few years ago they were done since they were reported to the association for not shoveling the back of the property. It was so bad there was probably a foot of ice on the sidewalk and it was like walking through a tundra. They recruited their families including kids to get that mess cleaned up. Horrible! read more

Horrible work and even worse customer service! I have a dead tree in my parkway that was just planted in the fall...whether they honor their 1 year warranty remains to be seen. The tree in my backyard was a comedy of errors. The field technician dug without JULIE markings despite telling them the area where I wanted the tree planted was near utility lines. Of course, the moron cut into a wire, thankfully it was not an active one. Instead of not finishing the job until JULIE actually came out and marked the area, which is what most reasonable people would do, this dude plants the tree in an alternate location. Even worse, I spoke to a "vice president" Matt who essentially said, no harm no foul, you got a tree, Lady. Thankfully, I haven't paid a cent yet, nor will I until the dead tree is replaced and the one in my yard is relocated to where I wanted it in the first place! read more

They're beyond awful. My housing association has them as our landscaping company. Two days as week, the gentlemen employed by Acres Group spend several hours riding around on obnoxiously loud machines behind my house. It would be understandable had there been a lot of grass to cut, but there are patches probably no larger than 50 square feet. I've watched them do this out of my window. These guys are just clocking in their hours for the timesheet. They are literally going in circles, in places where they already mowed, taking absolutely forever to do it. They start at the crack of dawn, around 7:30am, and will sit here until around 3-4pm, mowing the absurdly little amount of lawn which is around our neighborhood. I have convened with my neighbors about this and we will try to get a petition going for creating a no-noise ordinance for early morning hours - target at companies like this. I bet you I could mow the lawn myself, with a push mower, in less than half the time that these guys take, with ten time less noise. It is beyond absurd that our neighborhood needs to be disturbed for 2 days a week at early hours. I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives. If you have any choice at all, stay away from these guys. There must be companies which are conscious of the disturbance they may be creating. read more

Our condo association uses these guys, hopefully no more once the contract is up. They are a joke when it comes to keeping the roads cleared for snow in our subdivision. Every other subdivision around us will be completely cleared and salted and our roads are still sheets of ice with ice/snow in the driveways. 50% chance of them shoveling walkways leading up to homes as well. I personally think their warm weather work is even worse. Unattractive/half dead plants everywhere, tons of weeds, no flowers, horrendous lawn care. Huge areas of my entire subdivision had dead lawns last year, the edges of our lawn are never cut, they don't use weed eaters and will leave a huge area of overgrown grass around something as small as a stake light. The worst of all is I had a beautiful big tree in front of my home that came in bloom every spring. A few of the branches were starting to barely scrape one of the guest room windows. I made a request to have those branches trimmed to my condo association. Acres came by while I was gone and proceed to cut off the entire back half of my tree in addition to every branch from the middle down to the ground on the front of my tree. They cut off 30-40 of the tree's branches, and the tree now appears to be dead/dying. read more

I've been working with Acres Group for a year and a half now. After losing my ability to do planting and gardening myself, I found Alicia at Acres Group. I asked her to have her crews spruce up my back yard little garden and my front planting areas, limb up two tall fir trees, and do something about my inability to get grass to grow in the front yard. They also set up sprinkler hoses on timers to care for the new plantings since I could not venture out to accomplish this myself. They made my property look so much better - If I could still do cartwheels, I would have done at least five of them. The Plants and shrubs selected were beautiful and appropriate to the acidic soil in the area of the fir trees...and it gives such a nice feeling to be able to sit and enjoy the plantings. And they kept going and adjusting until I was absolutely happy. To have a company care enough to do such a wonderful job is a rare thing today! I will add photos when I'm a little more able to do so. read more

This is for the Roselle office but I know they are the same owner. This company is terrible. They have been with our association for over 10 years and do a horrible job. They finally terminated the contract and the service got even worse. It took them 4 days to plow during the Feb3 snow store and charged use for the 4 days of service. We had to pay for their inability to staff correctly. Actually we believe they have no integrity and they did it as retaliation to the termination notice. They have terrible customer service skills. Last fall one of the site managers had the nerve to tell me the flower bed that was full of weeds looked good without even looking at it. The foreman who was with him finally said yea those should be pulled. Their contract states they are suppose to pull the visible weeds every week. This kid had the nerve to say well they are not going to get all the weeds. There were over 10 highly visible full grown weeds in the flower bed. Worst vendor ever. read more
