I recently finally stepped in to do a little exploring this August. The retail store has shells, more shells, driftwood, nautical home decor, some jewelry, small gifts and Wanchese apparel. By Wanchese apparel I mean t-shirts and such paying homage to the charming fishing village. I was expecting local shells but it seems a lot of them were from overseas. Everything was so nicely labeled with the type of shell and the origin - I really appreciate those details. The retail store is just a small portion of their building as I believe the core of their business is being a wholesaler. The business participates in various trade shows throughout the year and retailers can sign up for wholesale accounts. Overall this was a neat stop in the quaint village of Wanchese.

And the prices are amazing. Cheaper than other stores offering the same thing. Like any other place, this place is sectioned off and organized. When looking around Brenda's shop, I did not see any fitting rooms at first glance. Then I saw one fitting room for my wife. However, it turns out there is a second fitting room in her store. Brenda greeted every client that walked into her store. She told them about the discounts and if they need help, let her know. Brenda has a great sense of humor as I found out while waiting for my wife. We did not find anything to buy this time around, but I did like Brenda's professionalism for her clients and store.. I was able to make two trips to the gallery and I made purchases both times. I really enjoyed looking at the variety of locally made art. In the end, I proudly purchased several pieces of pottery from different potters, two photographs from different photographers and a greeting card with a watercolor print on the front. I am most excited about a framed photograph of the iconic Sea Foam hotel from photographer Cyndi Goetcheus Sarfan. Aside from the aforementioned items, the store has various types of paintings, jewelry, sculptures, glass, candles and mixed media art. The employees, who I believe are local artists themselves, were very friendly.

There is a ton of inventory and the ornaments are arranged by theme, as shown in some of my pictures. The ornaments are largely the mass produced type that are made in China but I did see a small selection of ornaments which I think are (somewhat) locally made. This store is a great place to shop for ornaments for my "fun" Christmas tree that I string colored lights on and display in my basement rec room. But as far as my "classy" tree with white lights and silver and gold ornaments, I didn't see anything that suited that tree. In addition to ornaments, they have Christmas cards, nutcrackers and other seasonal decor. I left with an avocado ornament that is a great homage to my time in SoCal and perfect for my "fun" tree. The Christmas Mouse is a fun place to browse and to stay cool on a hot summer day.
