Cheap sudz Bring cash…read moreTake it for what it is Not for every Yelper - you're not in the safest haven, so be aware. If you look sharp and act right, this is a solid dive with DIRT CHEAP SUDZ. Beyond that, there's pool and some very distinct atmosphere. You're here for the standard taps at rock bottom prices, ya heard? Don't come calling for craft or cocktails (well, maybe a rum & Coke). Have dollar bills ready, maybe deal some cards if you keep it on the level, rack 'em in the billiard area next room over, and peep the ship room itself in the back. (It was empty and dark when I visited, but I walked around anyway - felt like I wasn't alone, so bonus points for that creepy Amityville Horror feel.) I don't claim to know legit, hardcore Worcester, but this seemed like a small slice of it at the base of Green Street. See pics for ambience and decide accordingly if this is your cup of 'Gansett. (If you can imagine the 2010 edges of Washington DC's H Street district, you're in the ballpark.). *FYI: Four police cruisers passed by me semi-urgently at my Lamartine@Harding parking spot even as I drafted this review. But the bar? I got a kick out of it.

Not every town can boast an 80+ year old bar with tin ceilings and tons of character. Fitchburg…read moreshould consider itself lucky to have a place like Boulder Cafe. While this is not a beer bar, all but the most fickle of beer snobs should be able to find something in the lineup of craft beers on tap. Oh, and the prices are hard to beat, everything we ordered seemed to be $4.50. The decorations that have accumulated over the years are enough to keep you amused through several drinks and this is an exceedingly pleasant place to spend a couple hours. My only complaint is that it also serves as a sports bar and the Patriots were in a playoff game during my visit. The only audio in the place at that time was the TV and the understandably excited fans. That being said, Boulder Cafe is a must visit for any bar aficionados who find themselves in Fitchburg.

Classic Dive bar…read more This bar is the definition of the dive... but not the kind that when you leave you check yourself into the clinic. Ohh no, if you are going to have a drinking night in Worcester, this is going to be the place you start out at or where you find yourself at the end of the night! Its always dark, has oNE pool table and 2 arcade games. If its not jam packed they always have a game of beer pong going in the back corner. I always end up standing because the stools are only so comfortable for so long.. SO many good memories here and not one of them includes paying a cover, even on an event night. I had my 2nd legal drink at this place "(lets not talk about the first) and Have even puked in a cup and gave it back to the bar tender ( who was super sweet and understanding) The owner of this place is always trying to get rid of Celtics tickets for like almost nothing. In the past few years they have made some updates, like a few more LCDs and having more contests where you will cools stuff. They always have 2 dollar shots ( select kinds) and the staff has always been good to me. Never give you a hard time about your ID, fairly fast service and they KNOW how to make a drink better than a bunch of places you could be paying more!! Place is definitely the 2nd student union for most of the area colleges. Yes, you will see lots of bros and floozies from the surrounding schools, but this place still consistently attracts the locals ( like yours truly) It looks like your gran dad's "nobody in here has bathed since last month" type of bar on the outside but its one of the many hidden gems of us young pioneers of Worcester.

This experience already started out poorly when the chef came bursting out of the kitchen to scream at the waitress who took our order. Apparently they were out of fried goat cheese. I ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls instead. That left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least seeing as he would be the one making our food. We had a soda and a cocktail while we waited for our food. The waitress is the only reason I'm giving this place any stars because she was kind and pleasant to interact with. The food took a while to come out and the establishment was not busy. When we got home the pizza looked lackluster. It was supposed to be a chicken fajita pizza but had banana peppers on it instead of bell peppers. The pizza was not good and we did not even eat half of it. The egg rolls were greasy and not flavorful. You would be much better off going to another pizza restaurant in town. This is our second time visiting the new location and the first time trying the food. We will not be back.
