We called Lake Co AC when these dangerous dogs were once again in our pasture attempting to kill our sheep. The officer went above and beyond-even crawled into a culvert to pull out an injured sheep who had attempted to shelter there! Sadly that ewe died from her injuries, but we are working with AC to hold these terrible dog owners legally accountable for our losses!

We had a fun experience with a short term foster dog while in town for New Year's. We regularly…read morestay in a dog friendly Airbnb every December and the owner was happy for a shelter dog to be pampered at her place. I completed the foster application online a couple of weeks before our trip, the adoption manager immediately called me and reviewed which dogs might be a good fit, and once in Ukiah we went to the shelter & were introduced to 2 senior male dogs (Sully and Kimber). We decided to do a short term foster with Kimber who was easier to walk and knew a few commands. The manager provided us plenty of food & treats along with emergency instructions, and the Airbnb owner had already provided dog beds & bowls (otherwise I am sure the shelter could have loaned them). Kimber was a very chill dog and we would definitely do another short term foster during our next trip. Recommended for adoption, lots of sweet animals like Kimber looking for a home. Update 1/13/26: the Airbnb owner adopted Kimber after we introduced them to each other!
