It has been in the community for approximately 20 years. While I browsed, my husband enjoyed speaking with the owner who is from the same state as my husband. This store carries interesting antiques and other furnishings. If you love the beauty of natural wood and furnishings with a history, you will enjoy this store. They carry dressers, chests, dining sets, china cabinets, chairs and more. Some of the pieces were huge and would only fit in a space with soaring ceilings, yet would definitely make a statement. The price point for several of the items were a bit shocking but I am not sure how much work may have gone into preparing the piece for resale. As long as we see a continued trend towards more modern furnishings of lesser quality, these types of stores will continue to thrive. When it comes to quality, price is sometimes irrelevant or at most secondary. I think the owner's favorite color must be green because he had hand painted his entire floor in green using a squeegie! It was very cool and creative. The one item that really caught my attention happened to be a little wooden chair that had a really cute design but also painted in a rich green color. The first project was a classic Turner-made desk mic that came with some vintage 11M gear I was gifted from a family friend. That repair didn't do as well as planned as the mic element was bad and simply was irreplaceable (NOS elements just not found anywhere!) However, Bill W. (owner/proprietor) and one of his techs, "RP", gave it their best. It's back home now but still doesn't work. Rats. Once that microphone arrived home I then entrusted the reconditioning of my classic Palomar 90a 40/20/15/10 meter 'blue face' linear amplifier to Bill and his team and sent that off to Gainesville last month. I requested that they perform a complete operational check on the amp, as well as optimize it for 10M operation, including installing a small 12v fan to cool the two sweep tubes and replace any dead capacitors and resistors. Bill and RP did just that and returned the amp in record time! Yes, it was pricey, but I now have a classic, high-performing, and stable amplifier for my ham radio equipment that will likely last the rest of my life! Five Stars for good customer service, excellent technical work, and a fast turnaround. I contacted the manufacturer in Germany and they referred me to three authorized repair shops in the US, of which Keith is one. I went down the list and the others said my clock was out of warrantee and referred me to other websites to look for a repair shop. To the contrary, instead of telling me my clock was out of warrantee or asking me to ship the clock to him, Keith shared some initial steps for me to take to first see whether the clock will restart. After a few follow up text messages, my Cuckoo clock is back up and running -- and singing sweetly on the hour and half hour. The building is a large single floor building with push doors. The store was buzzing with volunteers organizing donated items. This large thrift store was extremely well organized and the premise was clean and neat. Donations included: clothing, houseware, shoes, artwork, jewelry and so on. Donations were in good condition and clean. The aisles were wide and clear-making them easily accessible to anyone with a cane or wheelchair . The store is one level--no steps or ramps to navigate. On this day, a sign on the door promoted 1/2 off. They don't do this all the time so watch for signs. I purchased a lovely print that I am very happy with. The volunteers that I spoke with were helpful in answering questions and assistance. All proceeds stay in the community supporting local services. There was a chart behind the register showing the percentage of proceeds going back to the community which was impressive. Check for hours of operation (they closed at 2:00 today). Cash is appreciated. Personally, shopping at places like this is fulfilling in so many ways. I find a bargain, save something from a landfill, and support local services and economy. Win-win.
