I must confess, in my heart of hearts, I align more strictly with the fiercely individualistic tenets of LaVeyan Satanism. Yet, stepping onto these grounds, I found myself thoroughly enchanted. The venue is a vision of dark elegance, a magnificent Victorian house whose very architecture whispers tales of exquisite mystery. Simply wandering from room to room is an utter delight for the senses. The Paradise Lost Art Exhibit is a breathtakingly grand visual feast. The intricate, dramatic depictions inspired by Milton's epic are sheer perfection for those who appreciate romanticized darkness. The Library is absolutely phenomenal. The shelves are bursting with rare, arcane volumes and occult literature, plenty of obscure titles that even I, a seasoned connoisseur of the strange, had never laid eyes upon before. The Baphomet Monument is a towering, bronze, and triumphantly theatrical. Standing in its presence is a transcendent experience. While engrossed in a particularly dusty 19th-century volume on demonology, I attempted a subtle, grandiloquent gesture to admire the room's brooding ambiance. In doing so, my sleeve caught a tiny velvet-wrapped idol on a side table. As I lunged forward to catch it with dramatic theatrical flair, I tripped over my own velvet cape, collided with a decorative velvet rope, and landed flat on my back directly at the feet of the colossal Baphomet statue. I lay there in silent, dramatic pose for several seconds, waiting for the abyss to swallow me whole. Instead, a kindly staff member leaned over, smiled warmly, and asked if I needed a glass of water. It turns out even the Dark Lord's domain possesses immaculate hospitality. Whether you are a devout practitioner, an admirer of alternative art, or merely a seeker of unique philosophy, do not hesitate to cross this threshold. It is, quite simply, divine.

We drove over on a Saturday afternoon and easily found parking on Mount Vernon Street. The Beyond Walls website has an interactive map which we tried to follow, but it was a bit difficult, so we ended up just walking around the downtown area. We saw some really beautiful murals, and it got us out to a part of the state that I probably wouldn't have gone to otherwise. The streets weren't always the cleanest, but it was definitely worth the trek - I'd just recommend wearing close-toes shoes. After seeing a good number of murals, we hopped back in the car and parked nearer to the waterfront to walk along Nahant Beach. All in all, a really nice weekend afternoon outing in the time of COVID!

As most parents do spending the day in Salem, you have a backpack. It was tough navigating around the store witht eh backpack becuase it's that tight with items on display and people moving around. The experience: Started on time. I can share that I do not think people are being trained right or the owner is more of a heavy lifter themselves. When we first sat down we were given a tray and utensils that were dirty. The owner walked up and removed them and started cleaning. I am thankful she did but made me think about how come the staff were not able to put this together? There were some inefficiencies here. Like why are kids waiting for the one thing one kid is using when there were plenty of things to be hands on with. Once again, better trainign adn this could have been a better expereince. Also, the employee didn't have a great vibe with kids. I mean she wasn't talking to them making them beleive it was magical. And it wouldnt be that hard to get them to beleive it. Missed opportunity. Other suggestion, be a little more heavy handed with the dye in the liquid as we paid $30 for the potion, ours was almost as light at the water color instead of the blue/purple! Another thing: I assume the owner made a decision to really gear this towards girls. 50% of the population is boys. Warlocks existed too, right? No warlock hats. Nothing boyish sold in the store. The shop owners, Leslie and Terry, are very friendly and whimsical, and also very knowledgable about what they are selling and the people (mostly somewhat local friends and family in the arts/crafts world) who make what they are selling! After I got home I started thinking about going back for Christmas presents! Jettywalk Gallery stands out in a neighborhood of outstanding places to go!
