Generally prices are 10 to 20 percent higher than other supermarkets and now I wanted a loaf of rye bread and when I pick it up it was mostly frozen? Now was it frozen when bake at wherever that baked that stuff or did the store freeze the rye bread for additional freshness. Never again going back to the bread store, or bakery for fresh stuff. I will say that with everything going on with COVID and whatnot, Acme has done a good job as far as inventory, putting shields up for employees, etc. Not my first choice but solid, which is all you can ask right now with everything going on in the world. They also carry a few brands or options that other stores don't (and vice versa). read more

Got me a number 5 today for $7.00 not bad pretty good. Comes with the following fried chicken breast, chicken wing, potato salad and cold slaw. Have to say the cole slaw was excellent. The potato salad needed some relish for my liking. But the chicken was fresh hot and good not bad for a quick eat. Better than Popeyes and and churches to me grease nice and clean and don't taste like they cooked everything under the sun in it.... read more

I just visited my local Acme up in Northern Liberties, asked the deli guy to cut me thick slices of meat and he did so with absolutely no problem, so the Acme in Haddonfield definitely needs to train their kid behind the deli counter on how to adjust the knob on the cutter to be able to cut thicker slices. I know Acme supplies its stores with the same cutting machine so it's up to the deli workers to be able to adjust the machine to their customer's satisfaction and to do so without attitude. I was met with attitude at Acme Haddonfield but was greeted in a very friendly manner by Acme Northern Liberties. There needs to be some better customer service training for the Acme Haddonfield location as well. read more

Love this store. It's friendly, easy to navigate for a disabled person. Everything is neat and fresh. I like the fact that's it's not one of those super huge ones. I just went to acme to pick up some global pandemic supplies and was horrified to see upon entering, an employee emptying out the garbage cans with no gloves on. I took a cart using my sleeves because it seemed very unlikely that anything had been wiped down and went in. The store provided wipes for the carts and put up signs to encourage social distancing, but the staff did not seem to receive that note. Staff members kept walking very close to me and none of them were wearing gloves, masks, or any protective gear. It seemed that by provided wipes and adding signs they felt that they were taking precautions to avoid spreading the disease, when in reality they were doing the bare minimum. read more

I can't remember the last time I stepped foot in Wegmans or ShopRite, or anywhere else for that matter. Once you start figuring out where products are located, you're golden. On more than one occasion, I've found myself so frustrated by this particular Acme that I vowed to never return. Nevertheless, its close proximity to my apartment has lent itself to repeat trips for the sake of convenience. I can't think of a trip to this store where the experience has not been flawed in some way. Basic grocery items are often out of stock. There are hardly any workers so the lines are always long and there inevitably ends up being a problem at some point that requires the involvement of a manager. Worst of all, the produce department is horrendous, and it just so happens to be the straw that broke this camel's back. Last week I bought a bag of baby carrots. When I got home and opened the bag, they were slimy. Yesterday, I bought some pre-husked and packaged corn on the cob. Naturally, it was twice as expensive as the unhusked fresh corn, but I was in a hurry and I wanted a healthy snack (corn on the cob + spray butter + Frank's buffalo hot sauce + seasoned salt = food of the gods). I also bought a large container of watermelon chunks, to bring to a pool party. When I got to my apartment, I threw a pot of water on the stove and tore open the corn. I was immediately met with a weird smell, which seemed to coincide with the slime that was now on my hand from a piece of the corn I had just picked up. A whole lotta' cursing started going on at this point in time, as I disgustedly threw the cobs into the trash and frantically washed my hands with pink grapefruit soap, hoping to erase the association of Elmer's glue with my favorite summertime produce. The watermelon was sufficient later that evening, but the damage had already been done. I will not be returning for any reason in the future. read more

I love this grocery store! Granted, I do not come here to do too much shopping, but I do come here to cash checks which they do for FREE!!! (Not many people know they have this service.. YES FREE CHECK CASHING) The checks have to be payroll checks. But there is a lady at the customer service desk named Sheila, she is GREAT! She is always in a good mood, and is very pleasant with customers. When I do need to quickly pick something up, they always have what I need. read more

I like this store. It's small-ish which is a plus for me. I can get through my shopping list fairly quickly without endless walking and if I forget something that's on the other side of the store, it's not a long trek. Almost every time I'm here, some item I was going to buy anyway is a buy one, get one free. This store doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles like Wegmans, but I don't need them. And I don't feel like I'm taking my life in my hands in the parking lot. Employees seem pleasant and friendly and I don't find the lines very long usually. I don't understand some of the complaints in other reviews here. I never noticed any smell or odor in the store. It looks clean to me. Not having a personality? Eh. Don't need it to. I'm going to split the middle here between Michelle and Erin. I also grew up shopping at the Ack-a-Me after church on Sundays. I still have to return once a year to get the corn mush my PA Dutch roots have made part of my New Years Day breakfast routine, as no one else carries it. Produce is hit or miss, with the recent green giant carrots I purchased able to double as small baseball bats, seriously. The shrimp I bought that looked so fresh were so foul I don't know how the woman could stand to touch them to put them in the container. No wonder she 'double bagged them to keep them from leaking' right there in the seafood department. So - two stars for carrying the cultural foods of my youth, and don't buy anything you haven't checked the freshness date on. read more

This supermarket has convenience and all the items needed when grocery shopping but has no personality. Inside its decor is simple & unpretentious ( No Wegmans or Whole Foods, here) and it's relatively easy to navigate. From the outside it is so unassuming that you would not even no it's there unless you turn your head. Owners need to invest a bit more in this place to get me to be a regular here. read more

Good luck trying to use a coupon here. They treat you like you're Steven Avery if you're attempting to save money while, I dunno, feeding your family for less? Doesn't matter if it's printed, manufacturer or store coupon, if it doesn't scan with their 1985 Megatron2k scan gun...screw you (and if they dislike you, which regardless of how nice you are, they will...they won't even TRY the glass scanner which they know works). I've never had more difficulties using a coupon ANYWHERE than this store. 95% of the time they deliberately reject it. They accused me a few years back (in front of a store full of people), of counterfeiting some printable coupons because they had never seen them before. That's how antiquated and backwards this place is run. I don't even care if they shut down anymore. I'd rather not be tempted to grab some things and *hope* the one or two decent cashiers are there. PS check your receipt. If they refuse to take my coupons, I scan my receipt for errors and invariably I find at least one or two. Their policy is that you get it for free, so I try to offset my coupon frustration by utilizing this loophole. read more

Omg what the heck with the deli department. I was the only one there and waited 20 minutes for the guy to slice my cheese and ham and still didn't get it right. He kept stopping going in the back room and then putting garbage bags in the garbage bin and then came back to the slicer to finish. I haven't had the extreme experiences that Michelle C. mentions below. However, I find myself disappointed often with fare offered at this Acme. Having grown up all of 25-30 minutes away, I am an Acme-bred grocery shopper with plenty of memory of the good stuff one might find here. But this is a smaller Acme where customers have lower per capita income I guess. The potatoes are small, the produce options restrictive, and my roommate cannot find steak tips to save her life. Despite these complaints common to the chain grocery store, I've found Collingswood's Acme to be clean, well-stocked, and not over-crowded at the register. read more

The one star is solely based on convenient location. The store stinks-- literally. It smells like a dirty litter box. The smell in the entrance is the worst part but the smell permeates the store. The produce is questionable. The store itself has nothing that would make you go running back. For that matter i only have gone here in a pinch. I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears but nonetheless I must elaborate on the lack of care and disregard for the customers' needs. This is not my first disappointing experience with the Woodbury Acme and from what I have noticed on a few occasions is the abundance of very unhelpful employees and work ethic that leaves a lot to be desired. If the employees actually took some time to break away from the gossiping and judging of the customers in the store, they may have been able to make sure a product I ordered was available when promised. So far I have been waiting over a week for the management team to step up to the plate to keep a good customer but that has not happened. Baby formula, it's a necessity for the babies and the way you order ahead of time is primitive and full of flaws. They write your name on a piece of paper and that's as far as it goes. I asked if I could speak directly to a manager that oversees the ordering of this product and was met with another employee that couldn't have cared less then the first. Lol, how hard can it be? I try to order ahead of time to make it easier for both parties but they have yet to do their part as promised. I use pre cut checks from WIC to assist with the purchase of baby formula for my foster children and although I am not in desperate need of the state assistance, it helps me care for the children while allowing me to purchase other necessities out of pocket. Bottom line, I get obviously judged and the formula never gets ordered as requested. You have lost a loyal customer and as I said in the beginning, I seriously doubt any changes will be administered. I don't normally shop here, but it's the closest supermarket to my house, so I stopped in yesterday to get an onion. Well, I ended up having to leave and go to Wegmans, just for an onion. They get a star for being conveniently located and a star for the one really friendly cashier (with the shoulder length brown, curly hair. She makes conversation with everyone, always has a nice attitude, and actually proactively bags groceries. I think her name is Linda). Otherwise, I agree with others, this place is sorta depressing. The structure itself just looks old, and could benefit from a makeover. I suppose it is just this little center because the CVS next door looks equally depressing. I'll go here for little things; toiletries, canned goods, bread, etc. Even though this place is about 3 minutes from my house, I drive 20ish minutes to do my big shopping elsewhere as the quality of the produce, meat, etc - just isn't great. What drives me nuts about this place, however, is that the cashier's rarely proactively bag my groceries (except for the one women that I mentioned earlier). I went in there recently and put my recyclable bags at the front of the conveyor belt (ahead of my groceries). I would think that would be a sign that I would like my stuff placed in these bags. The cashier picked up my bags and placed them at the end of the aisle (in the area where you bag your own). She then proceeded to put all of my food in this area as well. When it became apparent she wasn't going to back my stuff, I went to the end of the aisle and started to bag on my own. On this trip, I had a lot of groceries. She finished scanning my groceries and sat there and watched as I bagged..the line getting longer as people waited me for me to finish bagging my groceries. When I had a few items left, she asked if I wanted help! Isn't it the job of the cashier to bag groceries? Wasn't I actually the one helping her? When I do find myself having to go here, I look for the aforementioned cashier. read more

I went to your store on Cuthbert Blvd., in Westmont, NJ. I needed just a few items. I got the mini wheat toasts that were located on top of the "better" cheese case. I also wanted refrigerated crescent rolls. The name brand crescent rolls were only available in the small tube, I needed the bigger one, so I saw that there were 3 store brand big tubes left, so I grabbed all three. ALL 3 were expired, from May 2017! I brought them all to customer service and told them what I found. They took them and I assume disposed them. I paid for the remainder of my items. I got home and was going to have some of the wheat toasts with cheese. The toasts also expired in May! What the heck! I returned to the store went right over to the wheat toasts and saw that 9 were expired. I grabbed them all and once again brought them to customer service. What is going on at this location?! If an elderly person or child was fed expired foods or if someone with a compromised immune system ate these items they could get very sick. It could have serious effects on them. I will NOT be returning to this store. I cannot in good faith know that I am getting quality items. I will make sure to tell my friends what I experienced. This is not acceptable in any way shape or form! read more

The folks that work here are GREAT always helpful, sometimes the prices are not great, I agree with Erin, Michael and Christopher, sometimes the items I have gotten are not quite the level I would expect (I have also gotten some stinky shrimp) But this is also something that has happened at shop Rite, I just think it is something that is bound to happen once and a while- but this is NOT the norm, it is odd when it happens and not something that is a chronic problem. The people who work here are fantastic- always smiling, always helpful and willing to go the extra mile to offer help. Terry at the front desk has become a friend, always so sweet, Kathy the cashier is a doll always helping out, Kim and Donald in produce offer a big smile as soon as you walk in the door- who needs greeters when you have them? I am equally distance from shop rite in cherry hill and Ac-A-Me; and I gatta say, they have both had small issues with outdated items but all in all- I take Acme any time- their meats are much better and their staff is fantastic ! read more

I have shopped at Acme, Westmont for 40 years. The store is clean, attractively displayed, staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are a bit higher, but quality and convenience are worth it. Finding items I want is easy. My only complaint: They never have lamb chops! I like beef, pork and chicken, but I also like lamb chops. I'm mystified why they don't carry them all the time. I always have to go to another market, after I leave the Acme, to get lamb chops and it's annoying. Otherwise, all is well. read more

This Acme stinks!! Each and every time I go in there, I am disappointed in one way or another. This week, I was hit twice!! I stopped in there on my way home from work to buy boneless chicken breast to grill for dinner. There was NONE! None, I said! No Purdue, no Lancaster brand, no Tyson. Not one boneless chicken breast. I wrote and complained and when I was contacted the next day...they still had none! Two days later, I looked at my receipt from that day which should be a regular practice but I don't usually. I bought Ball Park hot dogs which were buy one, get one free at $5.99 ea. They charged me for both packages! I called the store and they indeed confirmed they were buy one, get one. In addition, I bought two individually wrapped potatoes which were marked at .99 cents each and the receipt says I was charged $1.25 each. I'm left wondering how many other customers they are ripping off..the ones who don't look at their receipts!! Once I go and get my money back, I will NOT be returning to that store!! And I agree...their produce SUCKS and always has, no matter what Acme I go to! read more
