Came here while in the area for quick shopping... ample free parking in the lot outside. Large supermarket and easy to find what you need as aisles are marked. Came specifically for ice cooler, bag of ice and Carvel ice cream cake. Ice cream cake was in the bakery section but all the other items were easy enough to find. Staff was friendly and helpful to direct us. Self check out was easy, scan all items, pay and go. Convenient when in the area. Good to know when in this location. read more

I usually go to the Acme in Fort Lee, since it's closer to me, but I've been here on a few occasions when looking for specific products. This location is much larger than the Fort Lee location and has a nice selection. It's located in a a shopping strip so there is free parking available outside. They had a lot of self check-out machines available but not too many open cashiers. I wanted to redeem a few coupons on this visit so I needed assistance. The cashier was a little bit lost on what to do but the manager came to assist and he was helpful. I thought the prices here were pretty in line with the average/ what I'd expect. Overall, it's a decent store. I think the personnel is better at the Fort Lee store though. read more

They are CHEATING customers. Weigh your meat items - do not trust the weight on the packages! They overcharged me .67 lbs! When you're buying something +$10lb that's a significant difference. I called after uncovering this and the store manager just said to come back and get a refund. He didn't even acknowledge this could potentially be across their entire meat department. We live a block away and usually get some things here and it's quite pleasant with customer service etc . However today , we wanted to get a gift card that has to be purchased in the lotto section . I was waiting there for a good 6 minutes hearing one of the acme workers discussing with these two other ladies about their hair and sisters. I went to the register to try to pay but they said I had to pay in the lotto section . So I went back to ask the acme worker woman that I just wanted to pay for a gift card and she responded rudely with " well you have to wait I'm still not done talking to them " Their discussion was about hair , sisters and a party and had nothing to do with customer service. I left the gift card there on the counter . That was extremely rude and no way to speak to an actual buying customer . 1 star for that treatment . read more

This Acme is my favorite supermarket. But one checkout clerk must be avoided. MARTHA. She us unpleasant, incompetent, and lazy. She never helps a customer load their groceries. She never includes coupons, even when they are placed in her hand. She texts while custtomers liad their own groceries. She never has a smile or a nice word for anybody. She is slow. I wish 0 stars was an option. After feeding my baby brainac applesauce I noticed the box said expired 4/7 and the day I bought it was 5/25!! The manager Eric was very rude when I returned it. He said "human error, these things happen." It was the only box on the baby shelf so for a month and half no one checked the box!?! What kind of software is this place using??? Self Check Out stations were implemented midweek in the early evening and when I began my checkout, the Front End Manager was there to help out shoppers with the new system. She did get called away midway during most checkouts which left a number of shoppers standing about seeking help. A few cashiers without customers did come by to try to assist but they explained they had not yet been trained on the system. Store would have been well served to run a practice go live to show front end staff how to handle the new machines on the day they started use and/or have a video instruction or troubleshooting document to work from. Perhaps this was done as well as another front end staffer with the system key to unlock keying issues. Fortunately the same helpful Manager did eventually return to provide her key access for shoppers to conclude their purchases. I happened not to be in a big rush which is uncommon, but many of the other shoppers had small children/fretful infants in tow and wanted out of there quickly. Buyer be aware, check sell by dates and final ring costs match the posted pricing. Some of the buy one get one pricing is helpful but only if you really need that much food. read more

The employees here are terribly rude. My mother and I were shopping there and our last stop was to get some distilled water. It was on the top shelf and the inventory wasn't pushed forward for customers to reach so we used part of the bottom shelf and our cart to balance to grab the bottles in the back. I realize this could be dangerous but an employee that saw us decided to stand there and glare us down. I explained to him we couldn't reach the bottles and then he replied, "...you could've asked for help.". Why don't you offer help instead of standing there more than 15 feet away just staring down at us?? At checkout an old lady was checking out and I'm not sure what was said to the cashier but the old lady was not irate in any way - one of the employees walked up to her and said "Ma'am! He's just trying to help! RELAX!". seriously?? wtf was she doing that she needed to relax?? I had stopped coming to this Acme and had been shopping at the smaller Acme near to the Lincoln Tunnel. I decided to shop again at Edgewater this Sunday and now I remember why I don't enjoy shopping there. The customer experience is HORRIBLE. The Weehawken location is run so much better! Any time that I go to that location the man behind the meat and fish counter ALWAYS has a smile and greets me. He is always helpful. Is that too much to ask? On Sunday my husband and I went to Edgewater. At the Deli counter NO one was on line. Three workers were busy cutting meats. Not once did they make eye contact with us. They knew we were standing there. When one guy looked me in the face he said nothing. My husband and I realized that maybe it was too early ..... perhaps the deli counter was not taking customers yet, but would it have been THAT hard to say "I'm sorry but we are not open yet." Instead of letting us stand there like two idiots having to figure this out. What a lack of respect!! They chose instead to just ignore us until we walked away frustrated. For me, this kind of employee attitude toward the customer shows a lack of training and poor management. read more

I have hesitated shopping Acme mainly because of prices. But since Covid all grocery stores have gone up a lot and Acme is now average price wise. Even though they don't carry every item i want, i still will love going here for the cleanliness, good stock and great produce. Expensive. One thing here, one thing there, some OJ, some milk, a little chicken...60 bucks. Sigh. Most of the things I usually stock up on (chicken, lettuce, fruits and veggies) still exist, just at higher price points. The lettuces I have come to love (arugula and mixed greens grown in Bucks County, PA) are no longer sold here. Stacey's pita chips are double what i'm used to. Rare roast beef is noticeably more cooked. THEY STOPPED SELLING COOPER CHEESE. Path Mark was a great find, and it's a bummer they couldn't stay in business. The addition of that red sign and those four giant, generic letters really did a number on my perception of this place. Well, Trader Joe's it is. Or Whole Foods, for that matter. In my view this is the worst supermarket in the area. During the pandemic they did not sanitize the carts and most of the time they did not have wipes for their customers, or if they had wipes they were either completely dry or almost dry. The produce does not look fresh. I bought a box of organic strawberries and 2 days later the strawberries were covered with a very thick blanket of mold, even though they were stored in the refrigerator. Shelves are not replenished regularly therefore you are not able to do all your shopping there, Some employees have a bad attitude if you approach them with some kind of request. I am surprised that the Health Department does not send inspectors regularly to these locations to make sure that our food supply is in good condition and safe. read more

We went here around 9:30pm lookin' for something on the hair supplies section. So it was taking us a little bit time. With our 1yo. She was bored so i took her out of the cart. She was running coz she was excited. What can you expect in a one yr old? I was running after she was trying to get some stuffs by the shelves and i was putting them back. " the security said yes coz the old lady said everything is all over the place coz of the baby. but when he checked it it was clean. And i said yes it is clean coz i was running after her! I am so upset I do not remember the name of the gentlemen that assisted me at the register or the name of the manger that was on the day I visited this spot. My experience here was beyond any experience I have ever had at a supermarket. The young man at the cashier was so sweet and pleasant I felt like I would make this 40 min drive here any day for this service. The manger went out of his way to grab some items I had forgotten and did it with a huge smile and it made me feel so comfortable. I felt like I had been here 100 times and they all knew us already. Expired foods, rude cashiers or a complete lack thereof. Worst supermarket I've probably ever frequented but they are so damn close to me. I've bought expired products a few different times here. Their produce is often soft and moldy and there are areas of the supermarket that smell horrendous. The cashiers are usually nowhere to be found, wandering the store or smoking outside. I've seen stocking staff actually try to hit people with moving dollies. I've witnessed things here that would surprise me on a late night Walmart run, much less a supermarket. This supermarket is hands down the worst I've ever been to. I honestly hope it burns down or gets shut down by the health department. Definitely wouldn't be a surprise. read more

Where do I begin? So my boyfriend and I go to Acme every Sunday and have been for about a year and a half now. About six months after we started going to Acme, we had the pleasure of Emely Orbea being our cashier and telling us about the Acme app. No one else informed us of such coupons before. Boy, did she(Emely) change our lives forever! She introduced us(me) into extreme couponing! She was patient and very informative. She helped me download the app and gave me a tutorial on how to use it since I'm not quite tech-savy. Her patience and knowledge was impeccable. I'm forever grateful for Coupongirl Emely! I knew something was up when I made my weekly trek to Pathmark and the shelves were conspicuously empty. A week later--a new Acme store had opened. I had high hopes after reading an online story about the new ownership but--well, I've been less than impressed. Pathmark wasn't cheap--just convenient. All the pantry items you needed plus fresh and frozen stuff in one place. Acme's pretty much the same story and prices in many cases are higher. I spend more money here than I want to. Even little things like toilet paper--it's cheaper at the bodega in my neighborhood--in Manhattan!. That's not supposed to happen. The layout of the new Acme store is currently pretty much the same as Pathmark. I'm sure the idea is to make shoppers feel comfortable and familiar, but a lot of the familiar products carried by Pathmark are not carried by Acme. The produce section is slightly better. Another negative for me is the removal of the self-check-out kiosks. When I've got 5 things, I can check myself out faster than waiting on line behind a half dozen people with six dozen items who have 10 things that won't scan. "Bobby!! Price check!" On the plus side; the store is a little cleaner (not that it was dirty before), there are more staff on the floor to help, and it seems they have more of the checkout spots peopled. Bottom line, I'm buying less at this store and more at Trader Joe's up the road. Acme is the place for household cleaning supplies and the branded stuff I can't get at TJ's. Although, I often get better deals across the parking lot at Target. I fill in the gaps at Whole Foods when I feel like dumping the contents of my wallet on the counter. At least when I pay a premium at WF I'm getting something for it. read more

The good: seemingly fresher fish section, salmon looks to be of better quality at good price. Chilean sea bass has made an addition to the lineup as well. Fruit and veggie section seems fresher as well. The bad: NO MORE SELF-CHECKOUT lanes! Nothing's worse than getting your shopping done late night and being stuck behind 5 people because only 1 lane is open. Nobody wants to talk to their cashier about their day and vacation plans.. We want to get our food and get out as quickly as possible. Meat department no longer cuts their own skirt steak, instead they offer a prepackaged factory alternative. Some products are no longer carried, and/or have been replaced with no name brands. Also some products have taken price leaps. Takeaway: for the essentials it's a typical grocery store. Sadly I'll have to travel 3 towns over to get decent skirt steak so that'll be an extra trip. read more

Ever since Acme took over my favorite pathmark, the prices had increased drastically. It's insulting that thy think people would not notice? Also, what's with the price discount marking. It's confusing. Is it on sale with the discount or has it already been discounted. Even some of the employees say they hate working at the new acme. They are just fortunate to have been an essential service in this unprecedented times - otherwise would not patronize them - The signs are confusing I stood diligently in section where it states " Line Starts Here " as I had only 5 items the security personnel told told me to go to self checkout - on going there saw another line - I stood on the side where i could have gone quietly to the register waiting patiently apparently the extremely rude employee " Emely " who said go back to the line - mentioned was in the line already and another employee with red bandana told me you can't read - it got more crazier - she told me to shut up - all over my position in a line -later the security guards intervened I did get back in the line on self checkout without making an issue further - after finishing the purchase I told the first security guard that he sent me to self check out realizing his mistake apologized - but I did ask for Manager his name was " Pastor " looked baffled didn't say much only basic sorry which he didn't mean it as when he came out from his room didn't seem interested to help - I know we are going through this horrible time in our lives - it should bring more empathy towards one and other but apparently - NOT AT ACME in Edgewater- NJ very sad turn of events .. read more
