Try the chicken salad made here. It is unique and yummy.

Going into Acme of Cape May is like going into any small town supermarket in America. They have the standard assortment of name branded groceries and the feel of a local market. The store is layed out with half a dozen registers up front and a dozen or so aisles behind them. At the back, you will find the deli counter. As a local, you could survive with this store but you wouldn't find bountiful choices like you would at a Wegmans or such. For the tourists, this store will fulfill your needs fine for your vacation home cooking. One of the terrific finds was at the deli counter where they offer a chicken salad made with fruit. We often get some whenever we come to Cape May. Parking is a shared lot with other local business. During summer months, as well as holiday times, you are offered 30 mins free parking but after that there is a nominal charge to discourage parking for other tourist attractions nearby.

This is a solid grocery store right in the heart of Cape May. It is very easy to get to and has an adjoining parking lot. However, the lot is relatively small and serves a large number of outlets so I imagine in the summers it may get busier. It is free for the first half hour so try to shop fast. The inside is a little dated and reminded me of a small Gristedes or something from New York. That being said, they have most of your grocery and market essentials. I was tasked with ordering cold cuts. The relatively large order I put in was handled well but inefficiently. There were three people behind the counter and I was the only customer. However, I was only helped by one of the deli employees. It ended up taking me 20 minutes to get everything I needed. There wasn't really anything special I noticed about the market. They had a few beach-y items and some charcoal and ice to serve all those needs as well. Basically what you would expect of a beach grocery store.

Just bought a whole chicken which once cut into pieces turned out to be green inside. We did not cook it and thereby avoided being poisoned.

Amy was helping us make our selections and she was super helpful and fun! I wound up with some Sour Cherry Jelly & Thai Peanut Sauce/Dip. My husband is the peanut butter maven and he took home 2 of his favorite 32 oz jars of honey roasted peanut butter. They won't last too long for sure. They have another location in Smithville and you can also order via their website. And if you go this time of year, you can beat the crowds and enjoy the story even more! The store is filled with so many amazing creations. I can't wait to go back again soon.

They send flat rate by the amount of your order and tell you that it should take approximately 9 days total to arrive. Mine came in 5 and I'm in Florida! I ordered my Butterscotch peanut butter, capucino too. If you are a nut butter fanatic you must try their nut butters. The butterscotch may sound a bit off but I reassure you it's not too sweet at all and not entirely smooth. There is texture in these butters and you can tell that they have not been sitting around for too long and you will know when you look on the bottom of the jar it tells you when it was made! I promise you cannot go wrong. I ordered a few peanut butter cups as well and everything went fabulous! Considering I had 6 jars and 6 peanut butter cups each item was packaged perfectly and delivered on time and wrapped with such care I'm very pleased. If you are in the area the store is fun too! If not don't be afraid to order and they have so much not only peanut butter you must explore their options! Pickles, peanuts, treats from the bakery, spices, oils, dog treats, and so much more! If you go there is ice cream too !!!! Yummmmm! The marina atmosphere, boats, and views create such a classic coastal feeling. Even if you're not stopping for a full meal, it's worth walking around and taking in the scenery. It's a great photo spot and a nice addition to a Cape May day exploring the waterfront. I'd definitely recommend adding this to your Cape May itinerary. Be aware there are a few parts to the lobster house in general. It's confusing as a first timer but then you get familiar. I ate at Schooners dock at The Lobster House. Menú is limited. You can't order from other parts like the raw bar and sit in Schooners. I enjoyed fried oysters and a burger with fries. Service was good despite it being busy. We waited in excess of an hour for a table. It smelled so bad inside of mildew and mothballs when we were seated, we should have left then. There were five of us. Half of us got water the others didn't receive any of their drinks. The appetizers were cold when they were dropped at our table. It took another 40 minutes for 2 of our 5 meals to be served, while the other 3 meals didn't come out for another 15 minutes and they were cold, uncooked and disgusting. Tonight is the LAST time my family and I will ever go to the Lobster House. $350.00 for dinner and we literally had to stop for fast food on the way home. I'm in the bar/restaurant industry and I will be sure to advertise how horrible this business has become. Save your self respect and your money and go ANYWHERE else!!!

We purchased a few packs of sticky finger scones. they were easy to bake and good. We were there during the pandemic and noticed that they sanitized the pens for credit card signing. After using the sanitized pens, you put them in the used pile. They also had a giant bottle of hand sanitizer in the front of the store. What they could do better though, is to limit the number of people going into the store. There isn't a lot of space to spread out in the store. I have a well stocked kitchen so I didn't add anything to my collection but I did check out some local products like Cape May Honey and a Beach Plum Vinaigrette or salad dressing. In hindsight I wish had asked about the Beach Plum dressing because I think it might have been a fun add to my pantry. Love the Cook is home to Cape May Roasters so you can also buy coffee here. You can get a fresh cup or a bag of whole beans or ground coffee to go. For those who prefer tea they carry an assortment of Republic of Tea teas which are great quality. The people who helped me out at the deli, seafood and cashiers were all very nice. I will shop here again when I need to, instead of paying lots more money to eat out. Lastly, they don't sell booze here. Which is state thing I suppose. Which is ok because there is a beer/wine/liquor store across the street. Overall a great place to go grocery shopping.
